THE IMPORTANCE OF BHAGWAT PURAN / BHAGWATAM

There lived a brahmin called Bopdev in Totadri. He was a Krishnabhakt and well versed in Vedanta. He went to Vrindavan to pray Shri Hari.

After a year Shri Hari showered on him the greatest form of Knowledge.

This knowledge also helped him to recognise the same Bhagwat katha which shukdevji had narrated to King Parikshit. Bopdev then started narrating the same Katha in the name Hari leela amrit. At the ending of the year, Shri Hari appeared before him to grant a boon.

The ecstatic Brahmin started singing his praises. He said that shri Hari had already showered the Knowledge of Bhagwat on him. The only thing he now was eager to know was the importance of Bhagwat.

So Shri Hari narrated a story to him.

Once, after the establishment of Budha King in Kashi, Shiva came to Kashi along with Parvati. After sometime he started singing praises loudly as if he is addressing some one.

Puzzled Parvati questions him since Shiva was praising someone and Saying that there is

only one supreme being and that is You. Parvati asks him that who else could be greater than you, so Shiva replies that Kashi is the greatest holy area and he would recite the Bhagwat for next seven days here. And Parvati would be the audience with Nandi, Ganesh

In Genesis 15, right after God sealed his covenant with Abraham, God told him his descendants will spend 400 years in Egypt
God also promised that he would bring the descendants of Abraham out of Egypt with a mighty hand

When Pharaoh was told of Sarah's beauty, he immediately sent his servants to go and bring Sarah to his palace

(Collecting beauty is an obligation of royalty)

Abraham had no say in the matter
Pharaoh paid him Sarah's dowry and he collected it
Pharaoh became the legal husband of Sarah
Abraham prayed that God would somehow step into the matter
God did.
Pharaoh and his household were afflicted by a strange disease
Pharaoh called for his

diviners
His diviners told him Sarah had to go
Pharaoh sent for Abraham
Why did you lie?
Abraham claimed he was afraid for his life
Pharaoh wanted to be rid of the affliction
Pharaoh paid Abraham and Sarah appeasement/compensation offering
Abraham practically came out of Egypt

Vaikunta Ekadasi good wishes to all Hindus who are observing the Vrata today. The significance & benefits of keeping a fast today is explained in the Uttara Khanda of the Padma Purana. Today the mind must be firmly fixated on Narayana only.

Before narrating the origins of Ekadasi, Shri Krishna explains to Yudhisthira the benefits to be had by keeping a fast on Ekadasi. Krishna says the one who keeps a fast on Ekadasi accrues more punya than performing the Ashvamedha. (2)

Krishna says keeping a fast on Ekadasi is 100 times more meritorious than giving Gau-dhana to a Brahmana who has mastered the Vedas. Krishna says those who fast on the Ekadasi day are equal to those in whose bodies live the three deities Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva. (3)

Krishna says to Yudhisthira that even the performance of a thousand Yajnas is not equal to keeping the Ekadasi Vrata. such is the power of keeping a fast today. (4)

To Yudhisthira's query on the origins of Ekadasi, Shri Krishna goes on to narrate the story of the extremely powerful asura Murasura, in whose slaying lies the origins of Ekadasi. Mura who lived during the Satya yuga had taken away by force Indra's abode. (5)

IMPORTANCE OF PADMAPURAN AND ITS BENEFITS.

Next Brahmaji describes Padmapuraan. Just as five senses adorn our body similarly this Puraan is divided into five parts. This Puraan has fifty five thousand shlokas. In this book Rishi Pulastya describes the principles of nature

in chronological order and discusses dharma with Bhishma. The subjects include the importance of Pushkar tirth, the Brahmyagya, types of vrat, marriage of Parvati, death of Tarkasur, importance of cow and Kalkeya vadh. It also mentions grah puja and types of daan.

This is the part of Shrishtikhand.

The Bhumikhand part discusses about the story of Shivsharma based on respect to parents, stories about Suvrat, Ven, Pruthu, Sunitha, Dharma, Nahush, Yayati, Guritirth, Jaimini, Ashok Sundari,

Demon Huund, Kamoda, demon Vihuund, dialogue between Rishi Chyavan and Kunjal.

The next part is Swarg khand which starts with a dialogue between Muni Sauti and other Maharishi's about the evolution of earth and also refers to the placing of different loks and tirtha's.

It also describes the origin of river Narmada and its tirtha's, story of Kalindi, Kashi, Gaya and Prayag, dialogue between rishi Vyas and Jaimini, Samudra manthan and Bhishma Panchak.

BASIS OF VEDAS COMPILATION.

The deeds or kriyas mentioned in the Vedas is indestructible, but the tradition of Yagya's should not be discontinued. Vedas are the writings of the observations made by the ancient sages.

As this oral tradition developed things started to get disorganized. As per Brahmand Puraan,in Dwapar yug Maharishi Vyas organized them and distributed them amongst his disciples for further clarification. The divisions were compiled from a single Yajurved & divided into 4 parts.

The work of compilation was distributed amongst Jaimini, Sumantu Vaishampayan and Paeel rishis.They came to be known as Rigved, Yajurved, Samved and Atharvaved. The fifth disciple was given the task of of explaining and interpreting the Puraan and their history.

His name was Lomharshan, Whom we commonly know as Sutji.

1. In Rig Ved we mostly find the mantras pertaining to Yagya which can be sung for the worldly good and benefit. Also the importance of Priest emerged from here.

2. In Atharvaved, we find mantras pertaining to Brahmatatva or the spiritual and essential Truth. Here the karmakaand for the Kings was described in detail.

However, the purchase and sales of slaves continued till 1870s in many of the Hindu Kingdoms like Travancore despite repeated requests of the British Raj and the Christian missionaries to eradicate slavery.

After repeated British interventions, the Kingdom of Travancore finally banned slavery except for d sale of children in 1853 AD & it took, British Indian Penal code which came effective on the 1862 to put an official ban on the sale of children in the Shudra Kingdom of Travancore

The first slOkam of GodhA sthuthi arose from Swami Desikan spontaneously as he stood on a side street at SrivilliputthUr on a PradhOsham evening to find out the origin of fast approaching sounds of the mangaLa vaadhyams.

He was observing mounam (silence) befitting the occasion of the PradhOsham evening.

He was planning to go to ANDAL Sannidhi later for MangaLAsAsanam.

When he heard the sounds of Koil vaadhyams, he stepped out from the inside of the house, where he was staying to find out as to what was happening .

To his greatest surprise and joy, he saw the archA moorthy of ANDAL being carried by temple servants approaching him, as it was being carried on the backs of the temple servants.

ANDAL's normal processional route did not include the street , where Swami Desikan was staying.

On this special day , there was some theettu on the main street and the temple priests had rerouted the procession to include the street where Swamy Desikan was staying as an alternate route.

pattinathar went to Kashi Himalaya and many pilgrimage as when he returned he saw his clerk chendanar harassed by king and jailed. King wants to cease pattinatar property and add them to his treasury. pattinathar argued and released him.

chendanar went chidambaram with his wife and taken wood cutters job and lived meager life. then too he never left bhakti of Shiva. and served Shiva devotees with food. one day he couldn't find Shiva devotees and was very sad. that night sanyasi came and asked for food.

he doesn't have proper off meals so he prepared kazhi with mashedraagi.Sanyasi ate and went .Sanyasi taken leftover kazhi in his cloth bag .when next day priest opened chidambaram Temple they found Kali all over nataraja.

The Hijab is slowly disappearing in the Community.

It’s difficult to be left unsaid that, in the past it’s very apt to tell a woman or a lady is from the northern part of Nigeria by merely looking at her mode of dressing. It’s descent & modest.

The Hijab can be in other forms such as a big veil which is sufficiently wrapped around her to cover her.

This is how the north dress culturally & Alhamdulillah it agrees with the teaching of Islam.

Eventually the Hijab begin to disappear, starting with kids & unmarried women/ladies. They go out pf their homes without it. Such that once you see a hijab, she’s a married woman.

It’s odd & warned about.

Unfortunately today, both married & unmarried women arE Hijabless outside their homes.

And it’s normal, a father, brother or husband doesn’t feel anything wrong to see his Mum or sister or wife going out semi naked, showing their body curves.

Significance of Vrindavan Dham
It's a place full of bliss & knowledge. Its impossible to describe its glory in words for a normal human being like us, but I tried my best.
As per Garg Samhita, Krishna sent to d earth 84 Kosa portion of his abode ( GAULOK),Govardhan Hill,

Yamuna river.
When demigods went to Gaulok & requested Krishna to tk birth on earth to reestablish Dharma, Krishna ordered demigods & their wives to tk birth in the family of Yadavs & he promised that hel also descend & remove earth's burden.

After hearing her husband Lord Krishna, Radharani with fear of being separated from him started weeping & trembling & told Shr Krishna that if you're gone , il not be alive in this place.
Krishna said- Dont lament, ill go with u.

Radha said- My heart cant be happy whr dere is no Vrindavan Forest, no Yamuna River, No Govardhan Hill..
