When I picked up this month's magazine, I was intrigued by a story which I want to share as below

This is a real-life incident as narrated by Prof. Krishna Bihari Pandey titled "Sati Savitri"

Sati Savitri is a well known puranic figure from Srimad DeviBhagwatham and Mahabharatha as one of those who fought with Yama to save her husband.

The story occurs in 1975 with Prof and his wife in Delhi with professor working as a researcher in university. Prof's family is in Allahabad in a large joint family

Once Prof gets to know that his mother is not keeping well. He goes to his native and brings his mother. With dedicated care of his wife, his mother recovers quite remarkably and regains full stamina and strength

Mother-in-law & Daughter-in-law go out for shopping frequently

Life's going smooth until one day when they receive a telegram that Prof's father is not keeping well.

His mother is distressed about the situation and requests her son to take her to the native. Prof is a little angry due to frequent travels and turns it down

William Carey and Languages

There are multiple references in his various letters where he writes about how various translations are coming along. I will post some of the references here. The reader can draw their own conclusions.

Here we find him mentioning his book on Sanskrit grammar which he hoped to send to England.

His origin story is interesting, though I couldn’t verify it’s authenticity, so not sharing the story here. He’s shishya of Machamuni Siddhar and also learnt from Agasthiya Siddhar.

Unlike other Siddhars, he is depicted as either with a Tiger or seated & wearing Tiger skin. While I couldn’t find any explanation for this. My interpretation is as follows:

Tiger is a predator that lurks around and attacks unexpectedly.

Our 5 indriyas and 5 vikitis also similar to Tiger, they lurk around and attacks our thoughts when we’re least expecting. Gorakkar is said to have mastered these aspects, thus to denote this, he shown with Tiger.

In a year of many unprecedented events, the Supreme Court has laid down many precedents, in more than one sense of the term. 

My list of the notables, but not necessarily in order of notability, is here👇

1. In re. problems and miseries of migrant workers: A petition seeking help for migrant workers affected by the COVID lockdown had been disposed off. Then the Court suo moto took up the miseries of workers and sought to oversee the facilities for the migrant workers.

2. Government passed orders directing employers to not stop paying wages to workers. Employers challenged this In Ficus pax v. Union of India. Supreme Court directed employers to negotiate with employees.

3. In a decision having bearing upon its own administration, in Chief Information Commissioner v. HC of Gujarat and Anr. the court held that where HC rules provide for a procedure to obtain certified copies, same cannot be obtained by RTI.

4. The 2013 Land Acquisition Act resulted in lapse of some acquisition proceedings under the old 1894 Act. 5 judges in Indore Development Authority v. Manoharlal clarified that proceedings will not lapse either compensation has been paid or physical possession has been taken.

Declassified Strzok Texts: FBI Spied On Fox News, Recorded Phone Call Between Fox VP And Papadopoulos

New text messages released Thursday show FBI officials spied on a Fox News executive over the course of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation which targeted President Trump as a secret Russian agent who illegally stole the election from Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Because the Obama DOJ never received a warrant to spy on Papadpopoulos, it is likely that the FBI used a so-called National Security Letter to spy on Papadopoulos, and Fox News.
