(1/8) EveršŸ¤”how George Orwell & Aldous Huxley had thešŸ”® toāœšŸ¼their prophetic "novels", 1984 (1949) and Brave New World (1932)?

Huxley was an innerā•ļømember of the Fabian Society, a highly significant strand of the secret societyšŸ•øwith its fitting logo of the🐺inšŸ‘'s clothing. šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

(2/8) Fabian comes from ā€œFabiusā€, the Roman General Quintus Fabius Maximus of Verrucosus. His claim to fame was to wear down the enemy over long periods and avoid battles that were not certain. He and his troops would take over only when the enemy had been sufficiently weakened.

(3/8) If you have access to the inner core of the Fabian Society, you will be privy to the projected agenda for enslavement.

Coincidentally, Aldous Huxley taught French at Eaton, the super exclusive college near WindsoršŸ° just outside London where the Royal & Elite children go.

(4/8) One of Huxleys students was a boy named Eric Blair, later known as "George Orwell". Huxley introduced Orwell to the Fabian Society & the knowledge they accessed allowed them to so accurately portray a global big brother state manipulated by genetics, drugs and mind control.

(5/8) Huxley supported the ā€œcauseā€ while Orwell worked almost to his dying day to expose it in his most famous work "1984". Orwell died in 1950, a year after "1984" was published. 😳

"1984" also happens to be the year that marked the šŸ’Æth anniversary of the Fabian Society.🤯
There is literally too much to unpack here.

Seems like the AGs job is to constantly make recommendations that are ignored. How ironic is it that the Ministry that is responsible for distributions to the poor is also the one that has some of the glaring 'irregularities'.

"Nowhere was the picture more stark than in Karl Samuda’s MLSS, which the auditor general argued has been persistent in ignoring recommendations over the years to improve its stewardship of public funds."

That ministry alone accounted for unresolved monetary risks of 3.3 billion

173 million in transactions could not be verified because of inadequate supporting documents.

173 million..

Tardiness...

Disregard for it's own internal audit..

Significant internal control deficiences....

Lack of appetite to fix the problems flagged as far back as 2011!!!

This was already known but

"In a damning 2018 audit, Monroe Ellis found that in 2017, without permission, the NIF spent 27 million to purchase shares owned by the spouse of a senior executive."

Uncovered alleged 600 million fraud in 2018...

50 million in payments made to companies without valid contracts....

That brings total taxpayer exposure to 35 billion...
1/ Trend Factor: Any Economic Gains from Using Information over Investment Horizons? (Han, Zhou, Zhu)

"A trend factor using multiple time lengths outperforms ST reversal, momentum, and LT reversal, which are based on the three price trends separately."

https://t.co/udkvsdw2Lz

2/ This resembles combining multiple measures of ST reversal, momentum, and LT reversal (forecasts determined by walking forward rather than using signs from the full sample).

Unlike normal moving average signals, these are *cross-sectional.* More below:
https://t.co/wkIFLg9jtK

3/ Unsurprisingly, the Trend factor formed by this approach outperforms benchmarks in terms of both Sharpe ratio and tail metrics. It's combining momentum with two factors that are negatively correlated to it AND using multiple specifications.

More here:
https://t.co/x8Tloz3iyL

4/ "Average return and volatility of the trend factor are both higher in recession periods. However, the Sharpe ratio is virtually the same.

"Interestingly, all of the factors still have positive average returns.

"Momentum experiences the greatest increase in volatility."

5/ "In terms of maximum drawdown and the Calmar ratio, the trend factor performs the best.

"The trend factor is correlated with the short-term reversal factor (35%), long-term reversal factor (14%), and the market (20%) but is virtually uncorrelated with the momentum factor."
A few half-baked thoughts on Laschet and Syria and some such.

First off, it's revolting to see any mainstream politician spread what appear to be conspiracy theories about atrocities committed by the Assad regime in the Syrian war. In fact, to *volunteer* them. Unprompted. /1

I stopped counting the dozens of friends, colleagues, officials from around the world, but in particular, the Middle East, who have sent me his tweets over the past week. The common response from Berlin appears to be an uncomfortable "well, he's not a foreign policy guy..." /2

But he is! I think it's easy to underestimate the man and his jovial, slightly pudgy and self-deprecating persona. There's also a tendency in Berlin and outside to confuse regional politics (and accents!) for provincialism. But Laschet is from Aachen - in the heart of Europe. /3

His first job in politics was with Hans Stercken, then-chairman of the Bundestag's foreign affairs committee, in the tumultuous mid-late 80s. As a new member of Bundestag in 1994, he joined the committees for int development, EU affairs, and foreign affairs (as an alternate). /4

Some headlines refer to him as a "Merkel-loyalist". At least when I flipped thru his record from the 90s, I got a sense of a man with profound convictions: A passionate European. But also an early proponent of CDU-Greens rapprochement based on a shared moralistic worldview. /5
