A few thoughts:
- It’s all too convenient for Christians to look at this video & say “These are not real Christians!” And to move on without self-examination or acknowledgement of the church’s failures in the last 4 years (or 400 years for that matter)

- I don’t often see this same energy when it comes to antebellum slavers, I hear “They were men of their times!”🤷🏾‍♂️
- These people in the video may or may not be “real Christians.” The Lord allows the wheat to grow up with the tares, he will separate sheep and goats in the end.
- Regardless, All Christians must find their voice when self-identifying Christians misrepresent Christ and Kingdom.
- Dude’s prayer makes clear that he was either raised in Church or has been around church a long time. IOW he was not discipled away from his views. He was discipled either toward his views or he has apparently been in a church whose teachings are toothless re: this syncretism.
In the eyes of our neighbors, this brings shame on the whole church, not because the church has told inconvenient truths, but because these people have supported politically convenient lies.
And the fall out is that it’s now all the more difficult for our neighbors to tell the difference between historic, orthodox Christianity and this political theatre that has been written, produced, and directed by professing Christians.
For our neighbors, there was no discernible difference between the cross and the flag down on the National Mall last week. For our neighbors, the resurrection has been obscured by insurrection. For our neighbors, The Trinity has been overshadowed by a three-ring circus.
Each and every Christian must own our failures and take responsibility for the ways in which we have obscured the kingdom for our neighbors. **This is not a partisan issue. It’s a missiological issue.** Lament, repentance, and repair are our call right now.
Whether through our repentance & repair, our children, or the global church, The Lord will have a witness in this land. Either way, self-identifying Christians have some difficult inner work to do in this grievous cultural moment. Let the one who has ears...

It is simply not correct to point fingers at wind & solar energy as we try to understand the situation in TX. The system (almost) had a plan for weather (almost) like this. 1/x

It relied on very little wind energy - that was the plan. It relied on a lot of natural gas - that was the plan. It relied on all of its nuclear energy - that was the plan. 2/x

There was enough natural gas, coal and nuclear capacity installed to survive this event - it was NOT "forced out" by the wind energy expansion. It was there. 3/x

Wind, natural gas, coal and nuclear plants all failed to deliver on their expectations for long periods of time. The biggest gap was in natural gas! The generators were there, but they were not able to deliver. 4/x

It may be fair to ask why there is so much wind energy in ERCOT if we do NOT expect it to deliver during weather events like this, but that is an entirely different question - and one with a lot of great answers!! 5/x

Before I begin, it might be worth explaining the Malay conception of the spirit world. At its deepest level, Malay religious belief is animist. All living beings and even certain objects are said to have a soul. Natural phenomena are either controlled by or personified as spirits

Although these beings had to be respected, not all of them were powerful enough to be considered gods. Offerings would be made to the spirits that had greater influence on human life. Spells and incantations would invoke their

Two known examples of such elemental spirits that had god-like status are Raja Angin (king of the wind) and Mambang Tali Arus (spirit of river currents). There were undoubtedly many more which have been lost to time

Contact with ancient India brought the influence of Hinduism and Buddhism to SEA. What we now call Hinduism similarly developed in India out of native animism and the more formal Vedic tradition. This can be seen in the multitude of sacred animals and location-specific Hindu gods
