I’ve been flooded with Snapchat Spotlight questions after posting I’ve qualified for a payout 4 times. Here are the answers to the most common questions I’ve gotten in my DMs. These answers are my own experience and may differ from others .

Q: How will I know if I am getting paid?
A: You will get a message from Team Snapchat that looks like the below message 2-3 weeks after the snap has gone live. At this point it important that you verify your email address.

Q: How long after I’ve been notified I qualify, will I know for how much?
A: my experience is that usually 7-10 days after you get the qualifying message, you get a message with the amount, it will look like this. This message will include a unique access code for HyperWallet.

Q: How do I set up my HyperWallet?
A: Around three weeks after you get the payment amount you will get an email to your verified email from Snapchat Pay. It will look like this and will require you to fill out some tax forms, takes like 10 min.

Q: How long does it take to actually get the money in my account?
A: it took me like 7 days from when I had my HyperWallet approved before I got the money into my HyperWallet account. I recommend you set up auto withdraw. You can send money to PayPal, Venmo or bank account.

Thread: MyPillow CEO and right-wing fixture Mike Lindell explained his White House visit with right-wing radio host Eric Metaxas (who tweeted hashtag martial law in support of Lindell).

The interview had deranged conspiracy theories, justifications of violence, and more.

The interview starts with Metaxas touting Lindell’s supposed “genuine evidence” of foreign election fraud. Lindell says it came out “ten days ago” on Twitter and starts explaining the conspiracy theory.

Lindell then clarifies that his source for this debunked lie is a conspiracy theory website. Lindell claims Trump won by 11 million votes (he did not).

Lindell lists some countries that he says were involved (China, Iran, Iraq) and then goes into the “algorithms broke” spiel that we’ve heard from Sidney Powell.

Lindell talks about some sort of apparently digital “wheel” that he says was used by foreign countries to change election results. It doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Last week, SDC's rep. Sihanouk Dibo stated that they would announce the signing of a new memorandum of understanding with a Syrian opposition party. Yesterday, Ilham Ahmed said that they are planning to hold a national conference for all Syrian opposition forces this year...

These rapprochements might be applauded by Western powers that advocate for regime change, but are disturbing for people in the region. After all, these are the same forces the Kurds have been fighting off for years, and that have taken large swats from the lands they held.

Areas such as Ras al-Ayn, Afrin, Tal Abyad and Suluk, which were previously under Kurdish control, have been violently taken and occupied by the same ‘Syrian opposition’ the SDC now wants to cooperate with.

Dozens – if not hundreds – of civilians and Kurdish fighters were killed in these clashes, and I can only imagine how the families of the victims of these radical groups will feel about the prospect of cooperation with their killers.

The underlying technology of US dollar is based on the notion of "printing", a technical term for a process that keeps the government running and processing transactions. (4/)

Some notes on what Trump won in his war against symbols:

Last summer, Trump gave a July 3 address at Mount Rushmore. His speech dwelt on vandalism and symbolism. He compared the effort to suppress BLM protests to America's participation in WWII.

That was the roll-out for the National Garden of American Heroes:

Trump signed another executive order on June 26 on monuments and memorials. This order spelled out severe consequences for people accused of destroying federal *and even state* memorials, including sentences of up to 10 years.

Trump's order on monuments was hugely consequential. Lawfare obtained a DHS document authorizing "expanded intelligence activities necessary to mitigate the significant threat to homeland security" — domestic surveillance of BLM — rooted in this order.

Then-AG Bill Barr also found in the White House executive order on monuments the authority for "Operation Legend," the deployment of federal law enforcement to Portland and other cities.

To make that more concrete: think about cancer-tobacco denial.

1/ Domestic Markets

Note: I look at many time periods for everything presented here. For convenience I show trailing 3 months in this thread.

Nasdaq outperformance vs. the S&P and Dow is narrower when compared to T6M. Over the T12 period, the Nasdaq has outperformed by 26%.

2/ European (+Brazil) Markets

Germany (DAX) has lagged both the French (CAC) and UK (FTSE) markets. Including Brazil (Ibovespa) here - it has been outperforming Europe.

The DAX and IBOV have fully recovered from the March 2020 drawdown while the CAC and FTSE continue to recover

3/ Asian Markets

The KOSPI (Korea) has been on absolute fire, with the NKY close behind. The SHCOMP has lagged of late.

The KOSPI has also outperformed since the pandemic, with the NKY and SHCOMP lagging by 17% and 21%, respectively, over the T12 period (HSI is breakeven).

4/ US Sectors

Energy and Financials have been on a tear lately (economic recovery). Materials have also performed well, playing the recovery.

Technology and Consumer Discretionary have led over the T12 period, but are in the bottom half T3M.

Healthcare has held up strong.

Nearly every day I take a walk, grab a coffee, and sit for a while in front of Baltimore’s Camden Station. This is where Abraham Lincoln was nearly assassinated on the eve of his 1861 inauguration. Thinking about that little known story a lot lately, so today, I’m sharing it. 1/

So after Lincoln won the election, half this country was PISSED. He was going to abolish slavery and whatever whatever ‘MURICA! (Change the policy details, and it’s the same hysteria, generated by the wealthy classes to get the poor to do their bidding) 4/

Try to remember how different the world was back then. News came from the paper; not everyone was literate. Opinions were decided for many by those who controlled information. Some said Lincoln was going to destroy their way of life, and needed to die. 5/

MLK Day gives me mixed feelings. When he lived, MLK was hated by most Americans. That hatred may have been seeded in white resentment, but it grew as Dr. King focused his attention on our unjust economic system & started marching with workers, joining them on strike lines. 1/

Today, we see major corporations like McDonalds, Walmart, Amazon, Uber, etc. produce million dollar ad campaigns celebrating Dr. King. If he were alive, he would be in the marches and rallies continuing to protest with the workers these companies exploit. 2/

He’s celebrated for racial harmony. However, he saw economic injustice as the engine that drove the racial injustice he fought so hard against. He condemned “the tragic inequalities of an economic system which takes necessities from the masses to give luxuries to the classes.” 3/

He believed we needed massive wealth redistribution. And, today, we have more income inequality then when King was alive. It’s easy to focus on the racial harmony piece while ignoring the hard work required to achieve racial equality within our economic system. 4/

“We must see now that the evils of racism, economic exploitation and militarism are all tied together...you can’t really get rid of one without getting rid of the others… America is a hypocritical nation and [we] must put [our] own house in order.” 5/

Don’t really need to see #MLK quotes today unless you are living and breathing the fight against anti-Black racism wherever you are. Good will on #MLKDay or any other day is grossly insufficient if you have a shallow understanding of the systems of racism at play. 1/9

In fact, as MLK said, this kind of goodwill is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. So you must #dothework. Racism is embedded in every societal system. It is insidious and it takes time and effort to understand it and/or be critical of it 2/9

Black folks have to constantly do this work to fix a problem we didn’t create while we live in a system that is stacked against us so the least you can do is do that work as well. Doing that work is not simply soliciting feedback/perspectives or consulting with Black folks. 3/9

Doing the work is reading the work of #criticalrace scholars and mapping that on your social/professional location and then making systemic and ITERATIVE changes to the systems you are a part of. Simply reading “How to be an antiracist” is not enough. 4/9

Doing the work is not asking me who the critical race scholars are when you have google literally at your fingertips. There are no short cuts in anti-racism. What you dedicate your time to signals who you are. 5/9

1/ The “I Have a Dream" speech is one of the most extraordinary speeches in American history. You should read it again. First, a few thoughts about the common American heritage Dr. King relied upon in calling Americans to rededicate themselves to the unfinished work of freedom.

2/ Dr. King delivered his speech in what he called the “hallowed spot” of the Lincoln memorial. More than a picturesque backdrop, King relied on America’s reverence for Lincoln and the common celebration of Lincoln’s words and acts, especially the Emancipation Proclamation.

3/ “Five score years ago…” King echoes the words of the Gettysburg Address. Like Lincoln, King invokes the Declaration of Independence and the fundamental principles of American freedom, “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” Every person in that crowd knew these words.

4/ The Declaration, Constitution and Emancipation Proclamation declared and established the fundamental American principles of freedom that all Americans knew and believed in. But these principles and promises remained unfulfilled for black Americans.

5/ Lincoln’s audience knew the history of slavery and many had suffered personal loss in the ongoing war. Dr. King’s audience knew the history of violent racism, segregation, and unequal economic opportunity. The Proclamation freed the slaves, “but the Negro still is not free.”
