Mughal ruler Aurangazeb had destroyed hindu Temples and had constructed mosques with the remains during his reign as he believed in radical islamic nature.

Let's read a little about one of the Temples which was demolished by him.

Govind Dev Temple, Vridanvan, #UttarPradesh, is one of the most sought after holy places in Vrindavan on account of its unique architecture.

It was constructed in 1590 by King Man Singh of Amer, at a cost of ten million rupees.

During the reign of Aurangzeb, it was plundered in 1670 and now only a three storied structure remains.

In prior anticipation of this invasion, the temple idols were transferred to Jaipur secretly and since then the original idol of Lord Govindaji is worshipped there in Jaipur.

During the British rule from 1873-77 the main structure of the temple was repaired again and a new temple was built behind this temple where the Pratibhu Vigraha (replica) of lord Govind dev is worshipped along with the deity of Sri Radharani.

How devotees saved #JagannathTemple from Cruel Aurangzeb.

Siyaha Akhbarat-i-Darbar-i- Mu‘alla, Julus 24, Jamadi I, 23 / 1st June 1681.

“The Emperor ordered Asad Khan to send hasbu ‘l-hukm to Amir-ul-Umara, the Subedar of Bengal, to demolish the Temple of Jagannath in #Orissa.”

Receving the farman the Officials arrived in Puri to destroy the temple. Odisha was under the mughal rule, however it still had the king of Khurdha known as Gajapati who acted as the protector of the temple.

Now listening this news there was fear, anger, desperation everywhere, everyone was helpless & a plan was carved out.

There was a negotiation with mughal subedar, he was offered a huge amount of money as bribe. Still he knew the consequences of not executing Aurangzeb's order.

However, the bribe amount was huge and Odias were successful in persuading him with the offer and he finally decided to take the risk and somehow convinced Aurangzeb that his order has been carried out.

A replica of lord Jagannath was created and it was sent to Aurangzeb's court in Delhi to mislead him.
The temple was closed permanently. All the rituals were stopped. The pilgrimage was stopped. A rumor was spread that jagannath temple and the idol has been destroyed.

It is said that the one who bears the dust thrown from the hoof of Gaumata on his head, as if taking a bath in the water of the teerth sthalam and getting rid of all sins.

Ved and all other Hindu scriptures venerate the cow. The Vedic dictionary, Nighantu, gives amongst other synonyms of 'Gau' [ or cow] the words 'Aghnya', 'Ahi', and 'Aditi'.

Yaska the vedic decoder and commentator on Nighantu, defines these as-

Aghnya —— the one that ought not to be killed
Ahi —— the one that must not be slaughtered.
Aditi —— the one that ought not to be cut into pieces.

These three names of cow signify that this is an animal which should not to be put to tortures. These words appear frequently throughout the Veda in context of the cow.

But in due course the falsehood of killing cows spread far and wide and they became even more deep rooted when western scholars with their half baked knowledge of Sanskrit transliterated these interpretations of commentaries of Sayanacharya ,

#MohiniEkadesi

This is commemorated during Shukla Paksha on Ekadasi 11th day of Vaisakha month. Fasting on this Ekadasi is dedicated to Bhagwan Vishnu. It’s well-known by all devotees that fasting aids in washing away all the sins committed by the people.

Baghwan Vishnu had emerged as Mohini. When Amrit was found during the Samudra Manthan, a question arose between Devtas and Daityas on who could have it. At that point, Vishnu appeared Mohini.

Daityas continued enjoying the grace of Mohini, while the Devtas drank the Amrit at the same time. This is the reason this day is recognized as Mohini Ekadashi.

Baghwan Rama had also the fast of Mohini Ekadashi while looking for Sita, & furthermore by Yudhishthira during Mahabharata. Consequently, their sufferings too were washed away.

So, devote this day to him & get washed out all your past life faults

Sri Adi Jagannatha Perumal with Consorts, Sri Dharba Sayana Rama, Thirupullani, near Rameswaram, TN.

It is believed that Rama used grass ('pul' in Tamil as a pillow ('Thalai anai' in Tamil) to sleep and hence the village attained the name Thiruppullani.

As per Hindu legend, Rama is believed to have done penance to worship the Samudraraja (God of Ocean) to seek way to Lanka in
Kusa grass (Dharba grass), the act of which is described in Sanskrit as 'Dharba Sayanam'.

The temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th–9th centuries CE.

It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Who is worshiped as Adi Jagannatha and his consort Lakshmi as Padmasini.

The shrine of Adi Jagannatha houses the image of Adi Jagannatha, Bhudevi and Sri Devi in sitting posture.

Childless couple perform a worship called 'Naga Pradishta' (installing a statue of Snake God) in the temple.

'Payasam' (Sweet Pudding) is offered to childless couple praying for a child.

It is believed that Lord Adi Jaganatha bestows a child like Lord Rama when such a worship is performed.

SHAIVISM IN KASHMIR

1. Krama system
2. Spanda system
3. Kula system

Abhinavagupta says that Krama deals with space and time. He explains that actually there is no space. When one deals with forms, the space appears. When one is established in formless state of being, for him there is no space.

Abhinavagupta says that it is that movement which actually is no movement.

As for the Kula system, he says that Kula means the Science of Totality.

Meaning-

Swastika (स्वस्तिक) = Su (सु) + Asti (अस्ति) + Ka(क)
• Su(सु) means Shubh(शुभ) i.e auspicious or welfare
• Asti(अस्ति) means be/happen or exist. It stand for power or existence.
• Ka(क) stands for doer or performer i.e Karta(कर्ता)

So, Swasti means Be Auspicious or Be Welfare
and Swastika means Auspicious/Welfare Doer.
It is also believed to be a symbol of good, auspicious and welfare from ancient times.

History-

The journey of Swastika from its origin to today's world is filled with mysteries and

broken links of evidences spread over different ages of civilization.

According to a research published by IIT kharagpur-
“The Vedas also have a mention of various forms of Swastika. 1.89.6 of Rig Veda, gives a brief introduction of Swastika in the cosmos,

with the higher level of Indra, Pusha, Tarksya and Brihaspati at the macrocosmic level and seeking their blessing is the man at microcosmic level. Lusha Dhanaka Rishi explains the various manifestations of the Swastika in the 10:35 and 36 Suktas of Rig Veda.”

The graphic form of in Indus Valley seals are the earliest recorded swastikas in India. The epic of Ramayana also mentions the symbol embossed in the boat that ferried Lord Rama while the Mahabharata describes the Chakra-Vyuha or the Swastika maze.

The Harappan cities, one of the earliest known urban culture of the Indian subcontinent, had a civilized way of living - dating back to 2600 BC!

Every house of Harappan cities had a courtyard and 6-7 rooms on 3 sides, few houses had wells, one house had stairs leading to roof top and one house had floor built of burnt 'tiles decorated with geometrical designs'.

In 1969, archaeologist BK Thapar excavated at Kalibangan (Rajasthan, India). They dug out a settlement which dates back to 2600 BC.

He was shocked when he saw the 4500 year old houses had tiled floors. And the tiled floors were painted with a design.

He said, "This is exactly the design on the floor of my own house".

If you think the west has taught us modernisation, civilisation or 'way of living' then you're wrong! Wake up!!

The ancient Indian kings called a head crown as a Mukut and it would mostly constitute of a golden ornamental headgear like an oval cap with gems.

Sometimes it would also include a halo circle to show the divinity of the king

But in most cases very few Mukut with halo effect have been found.

Till gupta era the solid golden head wear was used in most days of the monarch.

But since the onset of 8th century it reduced in usage and was now used only as a ceremonial headwear.

Still mukut was being used prominently for ceremonial activities till recent times.

The kings mostly wore turbans ordained with pearls and gems while rarely anyone wore a true Mukut after 16th century.
