However it is worth noting how hard it is to bat in each of these countries. These figures reflect the average runs of each players team mates in the last 10 years.

These numbers would suggest that it is slightly harder for New Zealanders to bat in New Zealand. However, the quality of batsmen from New Zealand is definitely lower than the other two countries in the last decade, despite recent improvements.

The class of a batsman is often determined by their record away from home. So how do the stats add up in this regard?

Quite a few people have asked why someone who acknowledges being male would want a legal document that says female.

The simple answer is I dont. This was not the reason I obtained a GRC.

Of course I am biologically male. That will never change. That doesn't mean that in the eyes of society I am not perceived as having a GENDER of female. It doesn't mean I am not treated differently (often negatively) for rejecting masculinity.

I can't find the clip from yesterday where I tried a new approach to debunking Trump's big lie conspiracy about the election, but I'm going to try to write it in here. (thread)

The problem with trying to debunk conspiracy is that (as I've said so many times) it's a "self-sealing narrative." Meaning no evidence is allowed to count against it. You can neither prove or disprove conspiracy.

If you say "there's no proof," they say "they hide it."

If you say "the evidence disproves," they say "they made that up."

Of course motivated reasoning & confirmation bias are at work here. What's worse, conspiracy makes heroes out of the accuser and the believers--they aren't stooges, they know the truth, etc.

So I said all of that in this interview and then they asked what I would say to students about this in 10 years. I said in 10 years it will be easier to talk about then it is now. Now is hard because no one knows for sure. BUT, what if we used Occam's Razor?

(Occam's Razor says that the simplest solution is usually the correct one). Conspiracy is like this guy, right?

Since the day Sarah Palin called white conservatives “Real Americans,” I have been vociferously warning people about the danger of allowing that mindset to flourish & ossify.

What happened yesterday was the tantrum of people who believe they are the “real” Americans because they

are white, and that their will should always prevail for that very same reason.

The correlative to that is that all other Americans are “fake”
or “fraudulent,” and that our will is of no consequence.

This mindset in the right is what lead to everything, including Wednesday’s

sedition-fest.

It is this mindset that justifies voter suppression, gerrymandering, unequal policing and justice standards, ignoring Congressional acts from a Dem majority, and insisting that votes from black communities be thrown out.

At base, it’s white supremacist having a

meltdown hissy fit because they cannot accept that they aren’t the majority, and likely never will be again.

Their only gambit at power is to destroy the very concept of majority rule, and to enshrine control by the racist minority.

2 - Ok, I was working at Lands' End in 1991. One of your Circulation Managers had a challenge. She had two segments of customers she mailed, and one she didn't. She knew how the mailed segments performed, but needed an estimate for the segment she didn't mail.

3 - Estimating segment performance for an un-mailed segment was easy ... I had done this work at the Garst Seed Company in the late 1980s. So I performed the exercise for her.

4 - And my results were accurate enough that I was asked to analyze other issues.

We had a division that mailed 2 catalogs in a quarter. What would happen to the two catalogs if a third catalog was mailed?

I recommended a strategy ... an A/B test.

5 - Say the first catalog generated $5,000,000 in sales and the second catalog generated $5,000,000 in sales. What would happen to the 2 catalogs if a 3rd catalog was mailed, and how much would the 3rd catalog generate?

Just a few thoughts for home-schooling parents as a parent who has had a 12-13 year old daughter out of mainstream school for most of the last 18 months. I appreciate that this won't help everyone (maybe just one person) but hope it brings comfort.

Our daughter has been in and out of mainstream school since October 2018 due to an ongoing medical condition she’s being treated for. The first few months were hard as she completely fell between the cracks of education and health care. She had no education for about 3-4 months

Her condition is not aided by extra anxiety and therefore we have had to take a soft approach to her education. Since sorting things out through various services, she was back at school part time for the last semester. Things were taken day by day

Although she is only studying certain subjects, she soon made up ground in those areas, and though she may not be top of her class, she is doing OK. Her mental well being remains most important to us.

Remember that the school system was very anxiety inducing for some of our kids. Some have thrived more under lockdown without peer pressure, constant testing and anxiety/expectations. As adults we can better coping skills to deal with anxiety and we can share them with our kids
