1. They spent years & acres of space in state media lampooning Morgan Tsvangirai. But in death, they eulogise him. It is not because they have discovered respect for the man, no. They do it to use him as a source of legitimacy by way of heirship to their preferred “successor”.

2. They abused Tsvangirai while he lived. They still abuse him after his death. They think if they can attach their horse to Tsvangirai he will earn legitimacy in the eyes of the MDC community. The aim is not to praise Mwonzora but to undermine their true & feared rival Chamisa.

3. The irony is that they applaud Mwonzora for the so-called notion of “responsible opposition” while at the same time naming him the true successor to Tsvangirai as if they ever recognised Tsvangirai as “responsible opposition”. In fact, they called him a puppet & beat him up.

4. For someone trying so hard to uplift their chosen horse & to pretend the MDC Alliance is irrelevant, Charamba spends far too much time throwing jabs at Chamisa & the MDC Alliance. MDC people can tell who is the successor to Tsvangirai by the amount of abuse from ZANU PF people

5. The MDC community knows that the Mnangagwa regime wants to build an opposition party that it can control. The MDC Alliance refused to be that kind of party. The regime found a willing horse in the MDC-T & they have been at it all year expelling MPs & grabbing party funds.

Chandravansh and Surya vansh. Next there is elaborate description of Shrishti, story of Tripur, Ling and Pashu Paash vimoksha, Vrats for Shiva, Discipline, Repentance, Arisht, description of Shri Shail. Next is the story of Andhakasur, Varah, Narsingh,

k¡lling of Jalandhar, Shiv sahastra naam, story of Daksha's yagya and its destruction, killing of Madan and marriage of Parvati.

Brexit- Moving On:
Those who saw membership of the EU as being in UK’s best interests are told that they are going through the stages of grief. Eventually Brexit acceptance will come and we are told to hurry up about it (by "Spartans" who trumpet never surrendering) /1

But there is no need for grief. Brexit is not a permanent condition. States can apply for membership. Brexiters have a task: either delivering on their promises or persuading people to forget them. We have a task: creating the conditions for a successful application to join. /2

I want to be practical about this. What needs to be done?

1. We must advocate for membership within the UK.
2. We must help ensure that the UK meets the conditions for membership.
3. We must maintain good relations with the EU. /3

Advocacy: Good advocacy is founded on careful preparation and good information. We will need to be clear about the adverse impacts of Brexit as they occur. We will need to be clear about the developing benefits of membership (and honest about the EU’s difficulties) /4

We need to be where people will hear us: on social media, by providing expertise available for the traditional media and by lobbying politicians. We need to help amplify those speaking for us. Which bring us to a question; do we have the advocates we need? /5

1/ In early 2004 we were heads down executing on Edit and Continue across a large contingent of teams. There had been several iterations of scoping, redesigns, and customer feedback.

INSURANCE IN ISLAM

A SHORT THREAD:

1. Insurance is also known as takaful (in arabic), just that there are some few differences between the conventional insurance and Takaful.

2. How takaful works: All participants (policyholders) agree to guarantee each other and instead of paying premiums, they make contributions to a mutual fund, or pool. The pool of collected contributions creates the Takaful fund.

3. The amount of contribution that each participant makes is based on the type of cover they require, and on their personal circumstances. As in conventional insurance, the policy (Takaful Contract) specifies the nature of the risk and period of cover.

4. The Takaful fund is managed and administered on behalf of the participants by a Takaful Operator who charges an agreed fee to cover costs. These costs include the costs of sales and marketing, underwriting, and claims management.

10 big ideas for the next 10 years. Here are 10 ideas I think will make fundamental shifts in innovation, politics, money as we head towards 2030. Feel free to add yours

1. Tech focused youth involvement in governance. Over the next decade, there'll be greater involvement in the political process by the young digitally savvy demographic. Technology will play a massive role in helping young people build movements & in demanding for accountability

2. Build for export: With the Naira's continued depreciation, and decreasing purchasing power of Nigerians, more entrepreneurs will be forced to look outwards in search of fortunes. Nigeria will essentially become the incubation centre for businesses with global ambitions

3. Remote working neighbourhoods/cities. As entrepreneurs look outwards, the talent with exportable digital skills will also look outwards for employment opportunities. Investment in real estate that caters to remote workers will become an opportunity

4. Engineering offices. As Nigerias tech ecosystem matures & the current mid-level programmers, designers, PMs, transition into senior roles, foreign mid-sized tech companies'll start opening eng offices in Nigeria to get early access to the talent pipeline before coys like FB do

I've concluded that the real problem is that bitcoiners don't understand basic microeconomics. So here's a bit of a primer. 1/

Scarcity is a function of demand, and it affects price. For any good, if demand exceeds supply, it is scarce. That is true regardless of the absolute number of units of the good available for purchase. 2/

Imagine there are 5m Steinway grand pianos in the world, of which 1m are available for purchase. The world's population is about 8bn. So if everyone in the world wanted a Steinway grand piano, they would by any reasonable definition be extremely scarce. 3/

And because of their scarcity, competition for them would drive up their price. Steinway grand pianos would be very expensive things (as indeed they really are) 4/

Bitcoiners will no doubt have followed this so far, because this is their scarcity economics: there can only be 21m bitcoins, therefore only a tiny fraction of the world population can own bitcoin, therefore bitcoin will be very, very expensive. 5/

In March, while we all watched in horror as the Trump administration botched the initial response to the pandemic, I wrote for @Independent about the bizarre and unjust access many healthy celebrities gained to COVID tests, which were quite scarce.

In April, when it was apparent Joe Biden was on his way to winning the nomination, I wrote for @washingtonpost on why progressives should have optimism about a Biden White House.

In June, the Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling affirming employment protections for LGBTQ people. It's cause for celebration, but as I wrote for @Cosmopolitan: this is a mere fraction of LGBTQ equality. We *must* pass the Equality Act.

That same month brought controversy as J.K. Rowling seemed to be completely unaware of the violence and discrimination faced by trans and non-binary people. So, I wrote about my own experiences in that vein for @USAToday in the hopes of educating folks:

The MSM went ballistic when the claims it was Russia and Trump pushed beck saying that report was inaccurate.

Now there is actual documented Intel soon to drop that indicates it was actually CHINA paying non-state actors in Afghanistan to attack US soldiers!

The original leak out of the Pentagon didn't indicated foreign bad actors were financing Bounties on US Soldiers, and the MSM just immediately inserted Russia to keep up the Trump Russia narrative. Johnny Ratcliffe pushed back on the original report saying it was inconclusive!

Now further intelligence along with an actual money trail is pointing to China as the financiers of Bountygate, and when Trumps said he asked Putin point blank about Bountygate, Putin denied Russian involvement, may have been actually true, and the MSM got it wrong again

A lot of talk about NHS comms
I’m not sure sure that showing pictures on the news of busy ICUs or Ambulance queues will convince the naysayers and covid deniers of anything
They would still say it was staged or a hoax
Of course we need robust and honest information

But having a communications strategy based purely on images to fight the conspiracy theorists and covid hoaxers is a recipe for disaster
What we need is a high profile, properly funded public health campaign, but perhaps more than that we need ...

To accept that nhs isnt t a film set and patient confidentiality is important
Everyone says they love the NHS - show it by following advice

When working in nhs Comms I always took the view that media access and cooperating with media requests was important, this was often unpopular and at times I was a ‘lone voice’ often fighting both medics and the ‘corporate’ NHS side of things on the issue

And I think most health or other journalists who know me will say that I was fair and arranged access where others refused
One thing I never did was to forget it was a hospital/clinic/etc and patients were at the centre of it all

⭐️ What We Learned ⭐️

1: 2020, a thread. Like everyone, B4B faced countless curve-balls in 2020. Here are some things we learned, that helped us increase our influence in the toughest year we have lived through /

2: Act quickly: As Covid fears grew, we had a contingency plan ready by March 2, long before lockdown was a threat. By March 12, work from home was a thing, and on March 15 we closed the office completely /

3: Put the team first: In a crisis, you need the team more than ever. We got our staff from overseas back home early, trialled work-from-home early, put health (inc mental health) and working policies in place early, so everyone was clear what was happening /

4: Use the tech. Our team was already using Zoom, Slack and various other tools but they really came into their own to do the heavy lifting of working remotely, before the Covid nervousness became a full-blown crisis /

5: Keep the team vibe: Daily team Zooms – a huddle to get things going in the morning, an update in the afternoon, & always a willingness to use some of the time for social chit-chat & the small-talk that we take for granted in an office. /
