Your story is your social proof.

The more a consumer can see that you were once in their shoes, the more that consumer will see you as the guide they’ve been looking for.

Customers want to know you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.

3. Your Brand Isn’t The Hero

The customer is always the hero.

And their goal is the destination.

Your brand provides the map.

The visualization from start to destination is how you sell them.

4. Use Emotional Tones

Emotions are your best friend.

They’re what get people to take action.

And the best writers use emotional tones to transfer information through characters, plots, and conclusions.

1. Emoji Identity

This is something I stole from Morning Brew.

Morning Brew includes a "☕️" in all of their subject lines for good reason.

Because the repeated use of the "☕️" ingrains their identity in a reader's inbox.

And so I did the same.

Every email I send, the subject line starts with the "🔍"

And when you signed up for Marketing Examined, I let you know in the welcome email that each email subject line would start with the "🔍" " so that you would know it's me.

2. Ask For A Reply In Your Welcome Email

The almighty spam and promotion folder where open rates go to die.

And where newsletters go to be forgotten.

One of the most effective ways I've found to combat this is by asking for a simple reply in your Welcome Email.

Four simple headline formulas you can use on your ads or landing pages:

1. [Introduce The Product] x [Say What It Does]
2. [Value Creation] x [Tackle The Objection Behind It]

Use these 7 tips to write like an Amazonian 🧵

1. 30 Words Or Less Per Sentence

Keep your sentences Muggsy Bogues short.

Your sentences should focus on one idea.

This makes the communication smoother.

Short sentences help break down the info into bite-size pieces.

Digestible info = Retained info

2. Replace Adjectives With Data

In 1880, Mark Twain wrote, “When you catch an adjective, kill it. No, I don’t mean utterly, but kill most of them—then the rest will be valuable.”

In Amazon's case, don’t kill them -- replace them with data.

For ex:

A ton of Amazon Prime Members - > 98% of Amazon Prime Members

Common adjectives are vague. They don’t help consumers visualize the context.

Data does.

3. Eliminate Weasel Words

Weasel words take away from the story.

They're vague. Boring.

If you’re going to use adjectives -- use descriptive adjectives.

NOT interpretive adjectives.

Marketing is the set of activities you perform or strategies you execute that help build awareness of the problem you solve and the solution you provide in the minds of your target audience.

Lol, that's a boring definition.

Marketing is when you tweet, when you post on LinkedIn, when you wear your company's branded t-shirt before going on a podcast or video, when you run Google or Facebook ads, or if you write an article answering the specific pain points and questions faced by your target audience.

In the context of SaaS marketing, what you need to understand deeply are

• Customer acquisition cost (CAC)
• Lifetime value (LTV)

If you are selling a $50/mo SaaS product, should you spend time or money equivalent to $300 to acquire 1 customer?

It depends on LTV:CAC ratio.

If your average customer stays with you for 1 year, then $300 is a perfectly fine CAC.

Marketing experts have figured out that having a 3:1 ratio of your LTV:CAC is perfect, but in the early days you just need to know whether you are spending less than you are earning.

Whether you like it or not.... you are ALWAYS selling

To keep things short, here's how to select your 'Top 5' hashtags that you should be including in your posts so you can grow your profile.

Just remember, this is all new to me and I could be completely wrong..

Step 1: Search a main keyword on Twitter (i.e. #ROBLOX)

Step 2: Navigate to the 'Top' filter after you search

Step 3: Start scrolling and identifying 15-25 posts that are similar to what you want to build and have high engagement (i.e. likes, comments, etc.)

Step 4: List all hashtags from the posts you identified and a number next to them that will tell you how many times you see that hashtag (i.e. #RobloxDev 12)
