This was an incredibly hard decision, especially with my background and history around Open Source. I take our responsibility very seriously. (2 of 22)

And to be clear, this change most likely has zero effect on you, our users. It has no effect on our customers that engage with us either in cloud or on premises. Its goal, hopefully, is pretty clear. (3 of 22)

So why the change? AWS and Amazon Elasticsearch Service. They have been doing things that are just NOT OK since 2015 and it has only gotten worse. If we don’t stand up to them now, as a successful company and leader in the market, who will? (4 of 22)

Our license change is aimed at preventing companies from taking our Elasticsearch and Kibana products and providing them directly as a service without collaborating with us. (5 of 22)

Ok so the good news is that the paranoia continues to strengthen and there seems to be no plan for any organized action, protests, riots, demonstrations, or anything today or tomorrow. The consensus is to stay home. Horay good news! 2/

Let’s take a closer look at the lack of territorial dominance — issues:

(A) While #MUFC were able to improve their suppression — the right flank was very poor with Pogba tucking into the half-spaces.

(B) #MUFC had poor central penetration — more difficult to score.

A thread about my thoughts on the market:

$SPX has a rising wedge, looks really weak.

$DXY is bottoming with the short interesting going higher and higher.

$UVXY building a big base. Last time we saw this was in February.

$RUT has hit respected trendline from 1998.

$DJI about to hit the respect trendline from 1929 and 2000. These were two secular bull markets that ended.

Big tech looking really weak.

$NVDA about to break down.

$MSFT had a breakout failure, which is usually very bearish.

$FB has already broken down.

$APPL looks to have a double top. Also went outside of bull channel.

Back in 2000, there was a late rotation into $RUT and it broke out of a base and this spelled the top for the $NDX.
We are seeing the similar pattern here in 2021.

Short interest for $DXY is sky-rocketing. Such an extreme positioning has led to a rally in the past. A $DXY rally is a big threat to equities and precious metals.

Today the role of data engineers and business analysts are merging. Data is becoming self-serve

Data infrastructure is becoming so powerful that the tools today allow non-technical folks to carry out the once complicated / custom code/ huge backlog jobs of data engineers.

Before getting into what this means, let's first discuss how we got here

Before 2012 the data world was dominated by transactional (OLTP) databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc and analytical (OLAP) databases like Oracle, Netezza

Tools like Informatica / Talend were used to batch load (ETL) data into these databases, Tableau used to visualize

As you can imagine, there was heavy engineering work to manage the environment...

Then in 2013 AWS released their cloud data warehouse Redshift, and it was a game changer. Snowflake was founded in 2012, but didn't really pick up steam until a few years later (around 2016)

So why was Redshift a big deal?

1. It was the first cloud-native OLAP warehouse. It reduced the TCO of an OLAP database by orders of magnitude.

2. Speed of processing analytical queries increased dramatically

There is something quite remarkable about Sweden. They decided early on to adhere to established public health practices and refused to panic. They rationalized a viral threat and established a risk based policy. 1/

Threat hunting is all about finding anomalies that automated detection mechanisms don't find. That means manual anomaly detection, which sometimes means weeding out things that are normal. 2/

For example, let's say you discover a binary that runs in the middle of the night on a host and that's weird! So, you eventually search for the prevalence of that behavior and see it running on other hosts in that department. 3/

At the same time, you find this host talking to a weird internal system on an odd low port you haven't seen before. In this case, that behavior is nowhere else on the network. 4/

Eventually, you talk to an IT person or user in that department and find out the process is some special software they use and the weird system is a dedicated server for it, and it's all legit. Job's not done, though. 5/

God’s got this thing about pride. He does not let it go unchecked. When his people continue in arrogance after multiple warnings, he is going to bring them down. He will turn the tables. That which has been high will be brought low. This is why we are told by both James and Peter

in the NT that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. We need his grace so badly. Repentance is our only real way forward. He also views idolatry as spiritual adultery. This was the case in the judgment that was coming to his people through the Babylonians.

We are caught in a cycle. We keep repeating the same offenses and keep excusing them the exact same ways. Study even just the last century. I beg you to. Face how we evangelicals have bedded down with worldly systems for power. See how every time prophetic voices confronted us
