By the early 2000s, the coal industry was very different from its heyday. There were far fewer mines and far fewer miners.

Mountaintop removal had replaced earlier forms of strip mining which had itself largely replaced underground mining. Instead of the small operators of the past, increasingly fewer conglomerates controlled the nation’s coal mines.

But this process was not uniform. There were still underground mines, even as they were owned by the conglomerates as well. The Sago mine was one of these.

Ultimately, the owner of this, if you took the corporate structure up to the top, was Wilbur Ross, who had formed International Coal Group in 2004 to consolidate the coal assets he had bought in various places.

Let’s start by saying that I don’t want us to be closed to any child at all, I want every pupil in accessing their education; but I want that to be done safely for children, staff and the wider community...

When the government announced a delay to pupils returning to school PRUs and AP were not included; then organisations like @prusapuk and beyond applied pressure to have this rolled back, we can now work with parents for the first week. Whatever that means...

Here’s a few of the reasons why PRUs and APs must be treated equally:
Firstly, the view that all of our pupils are somehow vulnerable at home is disrespectful to our families. They did amazingly during the first lockdown and would do the same again; the same as any other family!

IT access is an issue, but we have had good engagement with online learning when bubbles have closed and this shouldn’t, in my view, be used as a balance against safety and health! There are ways around it....

My experience is that we have a higher number of families living in 3 generation households than many mainstreams; pupils with elderly grandparents living with them! Protecting these families is crucial to protecting lives and the NHS capacity.

My dm has been, over the period, flooded with questions on how to be consistent and effective in the 1-year Bible reading plan.

So in my first thread in 2021, I thought it'd be a blessing to give this guide.

These are very easy-to-follow tips that can transform your Bible reading plan from not so interesting to fun and impactful.

In this thread, you'll learn;
1. Best time to do your reading plan
2. How to monitor your progress or consistency, etc.

1. READ IN A QUIET PLACE!

Find a quiet and distraction free location for your reading. It’s nice to have a comfy spot that is well lit.

You need to be comfortable when reading, else your attention will easily drift to the discomfort. You don't need to sweat whiles reading too.

2. DIVIDE YOUR READING SCHEDULE!

Try to schedule your reading at the same time everyday. Another effective strategy is to break it into 2 parts in the day; morning and night.

For instance,
A. Morning reading - New Testament
B. Night reading - Old Testament

3. GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER!

Enlist the help of a friend or digital reminder. A partner will keep you accountable by reminding you to read.

A friend is more appropriate because they allow you to discuss what you are reading. It's a fun way to share your insights.

Frame is simply an unspoken and unseen circle where everyone chooses to operate in

Everyone has a frame but not everyone's frame is functional

If you're leading a conversation everyone is in your frame, if you're not then you're in the frame of the person leading

At first a guy might have given her the subconscious idea that he is capable of leading and being assertive but as time went on he started succumbing to her bullshit

Whenever she threw a shit test he would fail miserably again and again till he was now operating in her frame

Instead of being her pillar he made her his and leaned on her making her have the final say...
To a point that she no longer sees him as the guy she wants inside her

There are so many things a man does that largely falls into this category... And most of these go unnoticed

Everytime you apologize even when she's wrong you step into her Frame and let her know she can fuck up and you'll take the blame

Anytime you essentially allow her to lead, have the last say, and tell u what needs be done. . You're in her frame

3. Everyone comes to equity to become millionaire/billionaire/..., but very few become so, otherwise, most of the analyst would not be running webinars or panel of TV or writing books for regular income.

Chess may be a good analogy for explaining the difference between a descriptive model of reality and a generative model of reality.

A descriptive model of chess will describe the rules (i.e. initial setup, allowed moves, points per piece, objectives). This tells you how a chessboard might evolve and also narrows the combinations of realistic chess positions.

In contrast, a generative model involves the actual gameplay between competing players that follow the rules. It generates new styles and patterns. It establishes new strategies and tactics. It generates new openings, middle gameplay, and end game tactics.

A generative model is an evolutionary model that leads to emergent behavior. As a consequence, a master of chess is able to recall the layout of chess positions in a real game in an instant, yet is unable to remember pieces placed in random positions.

That is because causality is present in the movements of pieces in a chessboard. An intuitive system like the human mind is able to capture that causality as a means to understanding and recall.

We need to understand misinformation & disinformation as systems, not just individual actions. An economy of false information.

When I started teaching courses on false information systems a few years ago at Wits, I made a point to look at it systemically: there are producers of information, distribution channels/platforms, and audiences (which can also distribute/reshare content).

To try and understand the types of false information, I also felt it was important to look at the intention/motivation of the producers of the false info. What motivated them? Money? Notoriety? Political agenda? (all of these types are in play)

It's NB to understand motive of the false info maker so you can effectively disrupt or correct their false and/or harmful information. A guy in it for clicks/fame requires different strategy to a paid actor or propagandist – although both messages/content may be the same

What we're seeing with Covid-19 misinfo is that the content created and shared by deniers is effectively the same as the conspiracy theories shared by lobbies that are anti-government, anti-media, or who blame Soros etc. This is not an accident, although original motives diverge
