Navayan and Buddhism of Ambedkar

BR Ambedkar announced to accept Buddhism on 14th October, 1956 in a press conference.

He formed a new sect Navayan inspite of following pre existing sects such as Mahayana, Vajrayan and Heenayan.

 Along with him about 4 lakhs people accepted his sect. His book "Buddha and his dhamma" is the basis of his sect.

BR believed that Buddhist sects were distorted with time and gradually were filled with seemingly stupid beliefs.

He rejected most of the Buddhist philosophies.
He declared that 4 ultimate truth mentioned in Buddhist texts is not the original Buddhist teaching.

The story of Buddha getting inspired by old person, ill person, corpse and an ascetic was rejected by BR Ambedkar.
He believed that Buddha and his knowledge came from watching the struggle in society, and political anarchy.

Ambedkar rejected Buddhist philosophies of Karma, rebirth and anachronism as superstition.

He criticized the tradition to become an ascetic after renouncing the family
He interpreted the Nirvana theory after eliminating the metaphysical aspect of it. He reduced nirvana to a social status.

He believed that Buddha originally didn't propagated these philosophies, but they were later added by some stupid, cunning and superstitious people.
He said that protecting the original teachings of Buddha and keep it safe from other sects of Buddhism is its core principles. Navayan accepted panchsheel, three jewels and ashtangic Marg with few interpolation.
Navayan was promoted by BR Ambedkar with 22 pledges for all the followers. The crux of these pledges are:

I will not believe in any Hindu god, goddess, deities or incarnation like Ram and Krishna.
I'll not accept Buddha as an incarnation of Vishnu.
I'll not do shraadh and Pindadaan.
I'll not disrespect the teachings of Buddha.
I'll not perform any Anushthana with the help of Brahmins.
I'll believe in equality among human beings.
I'll follow ashtangic Marg and ten boundaries.
I'll leave the discriminatory Hinduism and follow Buddhism.
I'll give up stealing, speaking lies, alcohol and bad habits.
I'll believe dhamma of the Buddha to be only true Dharma.
And few more pledges.
Navayan considers Ambedkar as bodhisattva.

Generally, their centers keep the sculpture of Ambedkar with Gautam Buddha.

14th October is considered as Dhamma Chakra pravartan diwas.
There is a stupa made in Nagpur and the place is known as Deeksha Bhoomi.

The place where BR Ambedkar was cremated is known as Chaitya Bhoomi.

Glorious Vedic Architecture and Temple

Architecture in India was an extremely rich form of expression and highly developed science, with a deep heritage of spirituality in it. #FreeHinduTemple


The centre of all architectural development was the temple and temple or Mandir was the earthly home of God, and like the launching pad for the devotee’s consciousness to soar toward the Divine and the spiritual world.


The murti or deity of the Divine would be placed in the temple sanctum, around which all temple activity would revolve.

Such buildings were often elaborately decorated with stone, wood, plaster, etc. and carved or cut to depict the stories from the Puranas or other sacred texts


Temples were always the centre of religious, social and educational activities, practically more so in
ancient times than today.

During a span of more than two thousand years, various dynasties were known for constructing glorious temples,


some of which include the Mauryan, Ashoka, Gupta, Satavahana, Chedi, Chandella, Chalukya, Solanki, Pallava, Shola, Hoysala, Vijayanagar, and others.

Many of these temples remain beautiful architectural wonders today.

"Brahmins are not a privileged caste""

It is alleged that Brahmins created the dharmasastras for their own benefit. You will realise that this charge is utterly baseless if you appreciate the fact that these sastras impose on them the most stringent rules of life.

If anyone criticises a judge he will be charged with contempt of court. People who call themselves democrats and socialists have managed for themselves special allowances, special railway passes, etc, that the common people are not entitled to.

In contrast, the Brahmins who have preserved the dharmasastras have bound themselves to vigorous discipline, roasted themselves, as it were, in the oven of ritual practices. If the Brahmin's purity is affected by someone he punishes himself by bathing and fasting.

The Brahmin must be conversant with the fourteen branches of the Vedic lore. He must be proficient even in Gandharva-veda or music and must be acquainted with agricultural science, construction of houses, etc. At the same time he must give instructions in these subjects to pupils

|| Duties of Brahmins ||

Based on the discourses of Mahaperiyava Swamigal, this thread deals with the duties of Brahmins. The duties propounded in this thread must be practised even by the office-going Brahmins.


It is upto Brahmins to take whatever steps they think fit to promote Vedic learning.

Everyday they must perform Brahmayajña (ब्रह्मयज्ञ) which is one of the five great sacrifices (mahayajñas).

The Brahma (ब्रह्म) in Brahmayajña means the Vedas. The power of the mantras must be preserved in us as an eternal reality.

It must burn bright like a lamp that is never extinguished. For this reason it is necessary that we perform Brahmayajña.

We must offer oblations to the presiding seers (ऋषि) of our Vedic recension.

Failing that, the least we can do is perform the Gayatri-japa every day.

Gayatri is the essence of the Vedas, their substance. To qualify to chant it, you must be initiated into it by a Guru.

The Gayatri you thus learn must be mentally repeated at least a thousand times every day.

River Saraswati, Rigveda, Mahabharata and Our Civilization.

Saraswati has been a point of discussion when we look at the antiquity of civilization.

It has been concluded that gradually drying Saraswati led to outward migrations at regular interval in past thousands of years,


result of which there are many ancient civilization in western Asia having Vedic and Sanatana roots.

Let's take a look at some facts and try to understand our civilization.

River Saraswati was completely dried up by 1500 BCE - 2000 BCE.


Archeological evidence of Harappan establishment are during that time.

There has been many Researchers working on hydrogeological study of the Saraswati River bed and when we combine the research of all these studies, we find that:


River Saraswati completely dried up in 2000 BCE.

It was drying up and was on support of few other local rivers showing herself at few places during 3000 BCE - 4000 BCE

It was flowing at some places beautifully while became invisible at few places,


but met with other rivers near West of Gujarat during 4000 BCE - 6000 BCE.

It was flowing as perennial river supported by heavy monsoon during 10,000 to 13,000 BCE

It was most grand River of the Indian subcontinent with span of few kilometres

Those who complain that women have no right to perform sacrifices on their own must remember that men too have no right to the same without a wife.

If they know this truth they would not make the allegation that Hindu shaastras looked down upon women.


A man can perform sacrifices only with his wife. He does them for the well-being of all mankind and for his own inner purity.

It is for this purpose that, after the samavartana following the completion of his student-bachelorhood, he goes through the samskaar called marriage.

Marriage or vivaaha is known as "सहधर्मचारिणीसमप्रयोग". It means (roughly) union with a wife together with whom a man practises dharma.

The clear implication is that carnal pleasure is not its chief purpose, but the pursuit of Dharma.

The shaastras do not ask a man to pursue dharma all by himself but require him to take a helpmate for it.

The wife is called "dharma-patni", "सहधर्मचारिणी", thus underlining her connection with dharma, and not with kama or sensual pleasure.

This is the proof of the high esteem in which the shaastras hold women. The celibate-student and the ascetic alike follow the dharma of their respective aashramas (stages of life) not in association with anyone else.

The 62-year-old Dyatlov Pass mystery, in which nine students died at the hands of an unknown force, has likely been solved thanks to the movie Frozen and gruesome car crash experiments.

In what has become known as the Dyatlov Pass incident, ten members of the Urals Polytechnic Institute in Yekaterinburg—nine students and one sports instructor who fought in World War II—headed into the frigid wilderness on a skiing expedition on January 23, 1959. 1/x

He never saw his friends again.

The team made camp on February 1, pitching a large tent on the snowy slopes of Kholat Saykhl, whose name can be interpreted as “Dead Mountain” in the language of the region’s Indigenous Mansi people. Ominous, sure - but these were experienced mountain hikers. 3/x


The nine were never heard from again.

When a search team arrived at Kholat Saykhl a few weeks later, the tent was found just barely sticking out of the snow, and it appeared cut open from the inside. The next day, the first of the bodies was found near a cedar tree. 4/x

Post Independence, Army wanted to select the most experienced Indian commander as Army chief. But Nehru without consulting anyone appointed Gen Rob Lockhart, a senior British Army officer as the Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Indian Army.


Most people were shocked to know that Nehru selected a British Man after fighting for independence for over 200 years! Major Gen A A ‘Jick’ Rudra of the Indian Army was completely upset with the decision.


One day Lockhart met Nehru with a strategic plan and proposed many government directive defence policies for the country. He placed it on the table and explained the point to PM Nehru. After a while Lockhart walked out of the room and met AA Jick Rudra,+

Lockhart looked shell shocked and stunned. When asked what happened he said “The PM took one look at my paper and blew his top. Rubbish! Total rubbish! We don’t need a defence plan. Our policy is ahimsa (non-violence). We foresee no military threats. Scrap the army!”

One year after the incident the Kashmir crisis had increased and Gen Lockhart used to exchange ideas with the Gen Douglas Gracey who was commander in chief of Pakistan Army.There were many infiltrations along the border which Lockhart knew and took no action. But Lt Gen Cariappa+

On this day in 1878, Pamela Colman Smith was born. Although you may not have heard this artist's name, you will have almost definitely seen her work: among many other achievements, Smith illustrated the famous Waite-Smith tarot deck.


Smith's most famous illustrations in the tarot deck appear everywhere, and are synonymous with tarot. But there was much more to this artist, illustrator, writer and occultist than her tarot deck.

Early in her career, Smith illustrated works of WB Yeats, and travelled with the Lyceum theatre group. She also wrote and illustrated her own books, including books about Jamaican folklore.

While juggling all this, Smith also found the time to hold open houses for artists, and be active in the Suffrage Atelier, a collective of illustrators contributing work to further the cause of women's suffrage - this is an illustration she made for the cause.


In 1907, Smith became the first painter to exhibit at Alfred Stieglitz's Gallery 291, becoming the first painter to show at a gallery which had previously been devoted to photography. Her show was successful, and she showed twice more.

Eri Katha Ramar temple is located at Maduranthakam near Chengalpattu of Tamil Nadu. Beautiful Kodanda Ramar of about 8ft holding Ma Sita's hand & with Lakshmana. This temple story is connected with Sri Ramanujar.

It was here Periya Nambigal performed Pancha Samskaaram to Ramanujar under Magizham tree.
Sri Ramanujar was on his way from Kanchipuram to meet Sri Periya Nambigal at Sri Rangam to become his disciple. Sri Periya Nambigal also started towards Kanchipuram to meet Ramanujar.


They both met here at Madurantakam.
Small Mandapam where Ramanujar undertook Pancha Samskaaram is seen in the temple. Separate sannidhi is for Periya Nambigal & Ramanujar & this is the only temple where Ramanujar is seen as a Grahastha (married person) and not in Sanyasa kolam.


Story says about an incident which occurred during British rule. The Madurantakam lake bund was about to breach, due to heavy rain & village will be flooded if it happened. Dt collector was Cl. Lionel Blaze who took efforts to protect the bund & asked for the piles of stones


in the temple to protect it. But it was meant for Janakavalli ( sita) Thayar sannidhi which faced shortage of fund. Lionel Blaze prayed Sri Ramar to save the bund and if so he will provide fund to construct.
That night he saw in the lightning, Sri Rama & Lakshmana walked along
