I have been working on pandemic outbreaks for 15 years.

There is a misunderstanding of the difference between the response in much of the West, versus successful countries (including New Zealand and Australia).

Summarizing:

1.Reactive versus proactive and goal oriented.

5.Focusing attention on few individuals resistant to social action because of shortsightedness or selfishness, versus recognizing the vast majority do the right thing if given clear guidance and support, which is what matters for success, as elimination is a robust strategy.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has admitted the Tory leadership coup looks like being delayed to December - after the 'meaningful vote' on the PM's Brexit deal.

Speaking on his @ConHome 'Moggcast': "Some people don't want a leadership vote now, they would like it when the meaningful vote comes up and think that is the time to put in letters."

JRM: "I think the strength of feeling against the meaningful vote is much stronger than the number of letters that has gone in. If there are letters in, very few of those letters will be withdrawn - so the hurdle is much lower when the meaningful vote comes."

He tells @ConHome the apparent failure of the coup could be a blessing in disguise: "In a way it is better that there has been this delay, though I can't pretend that there has been some cunning plan, because we have allowed time for people to see the failures of the policy."

Shalya was under the impression that this has been arranged by Yudhistir. After Madri went Sati, Nakul & Sahdev lived with Kunti instead of living with their uncle. Hence Shalya barely got chance to meet his nephews

It has been super tough to end up here but: Today, I have finally signed an offer for my next gig. TBA, still, but finally after such a tough 2018, honestly!

I learned so much about interviewing and negotiating globally that I thought I'd write a master-thread on my thoughts:

First of all: Everybody always thinks that there are "stars" in this industry who can go anywhere and get a job in an instant - some people would count me as one of them.
Let me tell you: It's a myth. Star or not, companies differ WILDLY in their needs, culture and requirements.

There is no guarantee for a job, ever. There is no holy grail level you can reach that will make you into this being that can pick and choose wherever they want to go. In the end, you need to find the exact right fit for both you and the company. That's a marathon, not a sprint.

Further: Interviewing in this industry takes FUCKING FOREVER. At every place I had interviews with I got at least to mid-tier stages and that always means at least 2-3 interviews. 3-5 interviews before an offer is STANDARD. Jup. I know. It's a lot.

With some companies I have been in on and off discussions for literal months. 2-6 months to get an offer ANYWHERE is completely normal. If you're looking for a job, you need to be really patient. I know that's super tough, especially when you desperately need a new job.

Back-testing of some candlestick patterns 🧵

I hv back-tested patterns shown below on 500 stocks (Nifty 500 stock group as on today) since inception on daily timeframe charts.

Below is some interesting information.

I was doing to design multi-chart setups. But the information in the thread can be useful for people practicing candlestick chart patterns. There are many patterns & we keep coming across more. The data can give you a rough idea about the past performance of patterns.

Patterns are defined based on the popular rules of identifying them. I have also tested bearish patterns for bullish trades and vice versa (Contra approach).

Criteria: Hit ratio & returns of pattern giving 1:1 risk-reward if the entry is at the closing price of the pattern.

Some top bullish patterns have below hit ratio:

Inverted Hammer or Shooting Star – 74.72%
Multi-Harami breakout - 65.23%
Bullish Harami cross – 64.6%
Bullish Kicker – 63.53% (Got better returns)
Bullish separating line – 61.69% (It has got better returns)

Doji breakout hit ratio is decent (63.71%) but occurrences are v high so need more confirmation.

Engulfing and Harami patterns have got better returns when traded at next candle of confirmation.

The milkshake duck time horizon

Dawkins, for instance, has now been a bigot for much longer than he was a respected scientist.

It's like how a 120-year old has spent half their life as an elderly person.

DEVI GHUSHMA AND GHUSHMESHWAR JYOTIRLINGA (MAHA)

There was a pious brahmin, Sudharma, who lived with his wife Sudeha, in the forest of Devgiri. The couple was childless.
On the insistence of Sudeha, the brahmin married her sister Ghushma.
Ghushma was an ardent Shiv devotee.

Daily, she made 101 shivlingas from mud, worshipped them and immersed them in the river.
When Ghushma was blessed with a son, Sudeha started disliking Ghushma and ill-treated her.
Time passed and Ghushma’s son got married.
One night, jealous Sudeha killed this son.

While everyone was lamenting the loss of her son, she continued her puja.
Her intense worship pleased Shiva who appeared and revived her son.
Shiva, then, wanted to punish Sudeha but Ghushma stopped him

She requested Mahadev to be present there always.
Mahadev granted her wish and appeared as a shivlinga which got the name Ghushmeshwar (on the name of Ghushma) and revered as a Jyotirlinga.
