Ever heard of a temple where the statue of the Goddess was found in a field in 1936 after spending almost a millenia under the soil?And is worshipped as the Tri-Sakthi-Swaroopini?
No?
I shall narrate the story of Nidadavole Kota Satthema temple in West Godavari district, Andhra

Nidadavole is a sleepy little town in the district of West Godavari, located a few kilometres from the Godavari. Among other things, it is famous for its Gramadevatha and Kshetrapalika, the Goddess Kota Satthema

In the tenth century, Nidadavole was known as Nirvadhyapuram, and was under the rule of the Eastern Chalukyas. They were nominal feudatories of the Kakatiyas of Warangal. The local Sthalapurana indicates that the original temple was built by one king called Virabhadra.

This Virabhadra has been identified as the husband and royal regent of the Kakatiya Empress, Rani Rudramadevi who ruled Central Deccan during the period. The original stone figure of the Goddess was built within a fort during his reign.

The goddess was worshipped as the Shakti of the Fort. Over time the name entered the vernacular parlance as Kota (the telugu word for Fort) and Satthema (a local vulgarisation of the word Shakti).

NAMAKKAL ANJANEYAR, TAMILNADU

Sri Anjaneya/Hanuman murti at Namakkal is 18ft tall and holds a japmala in hand and sword in waist.
Here, Anjaneya is closely associated with Narasimha and Ma Lakshmi.

Once, Anjaneya was bathing in Gandaki river of Nepal. He found a huge shaligram shaped like Sri Vishnu. He carried it with him. When he was passing over this place, he wished to bathe but shaligram cannot be placed on ground.
He, then, saw Mahalakshmi doing penance.

She wanted to see Prabhu as Narasimha, hence the penance. She agreed to hold the shaligram for some specified time. When Anjaneya could not come back within the given time, she placed it down. The shaligram became a huge mountain.
Vishnu appeared as Narasimha before Ma Lakshmi.

Anjaneya also stayed back. His Vigraha is carved out of a single rock.
The major festival here is the fifteen-day Panguni Uthiram celebrated during the Tamil month of Panguni (March – April) when the image of presiding deities are taken around the streets of the mandir.

JAGANNATH PURI AND BAISI PAHACH

Baisi is 22 and ‘Pahacha’ is Step. So Baisi Pahacha means 22 Steps. These steps are found at the ‘Simha Dwara’ of Jagannath Puri. The devotees have to climb these 22 holy steps to reach the second inner gate (Baisi Pahacha Gumuta).

A black stone known as ‘Yama Shila’ is engraved in the middle of the 3rd step. As per belief, devotees must step on this stone while going up as it frees them from ‘Yama Danda’ (Punishment of Yama) but must not step on this stone on their way back as it will take away all Punya.

There is a small stone on the 7th step known as ‘Pitru Shila’. Devotees offer Anna Mahaprasada, the holy rice of the mandir that has been offered to Sri Jagannath, to this stone for feeding their ancestors to liberate their departed souls.

It is said that Madana Mohana, the representative murti of Sri Jagannath, offers Pinda Daana on these steps to his ancestors (Nanda and Yashoda, Devaki and Vasudeva, Koushalya and Dasaratha)

Previously we read that Daksh insulted the divine Garland given to him by Durvasa and as a result he behaved negatively towards Shiva and Sati.

It was due to this negativity that Sati jumped into the fire.

This angered Shiva. His anger had a terrible impact all around. Virbhadra, Bhadrakali embarked on a destruction spree. Brahma and Vishnu had to intervene and had to stop the destruction.

But then Shiva carried the burnt body of Sati on his shoulders and

I often see such kind of images floating around & with wrong info about Bhagwan Krishna.

So lets start with Gokul..

Some people are of the view that 'gopi chirharan leela' was vulgar and obscene.People forget that Krishna stayed at Gokul for merely eleven years. This leela possibly must have been done when he must be eight or nine. How could gestures of a child can be obscene.

Rishi's and saints have used such words in their scriptures for centuries but we in this modern world are taking their present day meaning without considering the inner nuances of those words.

Such words were used to make us aware about the pure bhakti which according to them was that there should be no barrier between Parmatma and devotee.Spiritualists believe that Krishna is ATMA and gopis are VRITI(वृत्ति).

Once the cover of VRITI or attitude is destroyed that is Chirharan and finally when they surrender themselves to the Atma(Krishna) that is 'Raas'.

The Shanthi Mantra spells out the context of the Vedic Education System.

The students started the recitation of the Vedic hymns in early hours of morning.

The chanting of Mantras had been evolved into the form of a fine art. Special attention was paid to the correct pronunciation of words, Pada or even letters. The Vedic knowledge was imparted by the Guru or the teacher to the pupil through regulated and prescribed pronunciation,

The complex also has mandir for Kala Bhairava who is considered kshetrapalaka.

Pandava Thoothar Perumal (Kanchipuram)

This temple is 49th among the 108 Divya Desams. The temple is approximately 2000 years old, and as per the inscription on Temple walls, Chola King Kulottunga Chola I carried out significant amount of work in rebuilding the temple between +

+ 11th & 12th century CE.

This place was called as Thirupadagam earlier. This is probably only temple in world where Bhagwan Sri Krishna is in the sitting pose at the height of 25 feet.

thus Bhagwan here is called 'Pandava Thoothar Perumal). King Janemajaya (great grandson of Arjuna) heard story from Sage Vaisampayana about how Sri Krishna showed his Vishwaroopam, when Kaurava tried to humiliate & kill him during His visit as a negotiator (Thoothar).

Sage Vaisampayana advised King Janamejaya (when later wanted to see Bhagwan's Vishwaroopam) to visit Kanchipuram and do penance towards Krishna. It is believed that Sri Krishna appeared before King Janamejaya in 'Pandava Thoothar' form.

Starting first thread on the 34th Acharya of Sringeri, Sri Sri Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati Mahaswami.

Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati Mahaswami [1912-1954]. Just hearing His name gives me goosebumps. I consider it my poorva bhagyam to have even heard about Him.He is undoubtedly One of the greatest Saints to ever walk on Earth. The DhwajapaTi of the Sringeri Peetam [imvho].

A Jivanmukta [one who's liberated even when living] is rare. Only sometimes do those souls take birth. To this parampara belongs Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati Mahaswami. Sri CB's parents had many (11) children none of whom survived.

It was w/ blessings of 33rd Acharya that they had a boy. Hence they named Narasimha Sastry.
Even from childhood he was always engrossed in bhakti and was always inward looking.
He loved Muka Panchasati.

Once his mom asked him get something from market, he started to get it reciting Panchasati and he walked out of Sringeri oblivious to the fact he had crossed into jungle. Someone stopped him and it was then he realized where he was. This was when he a kid!!

Today in #GRAHAMNC I went to a permitted March to the Polls lead by Rev Drumwright and others. Starting at a Black AME church, Rev Drumwright started the march by asking folks what our intentions were. TO VOTE the crowd chanted. Its the last day of Early Voting in #NC.

We then marched, escorted by police, about half a mile towards the center of Graham, chanting and singing. We moved slowly, because of the many elderly folks and families with small children. Graham is a small town in #AlamanceCounty.

Alamance County is known as "No Chance Alamance" because of rampant inequality and a judicial system generally known to be hostile to Black and Brown folks, and poor white folks. We believe that we can change that at the polls this year.

As the march approached the center of Graham where a large Confederate statue is, we kneeled in rememberance of George Floyd. His neice and nephew were in the crowd.

Moments after we were done kneeling a police officer started to yell that we had to be off the street. Folks were confused because we had been escorted there and had a permit. I moved my child up onto the sidewalk. They started pepper spraying us. My child couldn't run because

The Year was 1959, the place was Amritsar.

Some Indian Army Officers and their wives had gone to the Railway Station to see off one of their colleagues.

Some goons made lewd remarks against the women and tried to molest them. The Army Officers chased the goons who took ...(2)

The matter had been reported to Commanding Officer Col Jyothi Mohan Sen. On learning about the incident, the Col ordered the Cinema Hall to be surrounded by troops. All the goons were dragged out.The leader of the goons was heady and drunk (3)

with power. He was none other than the son of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Pratap Singh Kairon,the close associate of the then Prime Minister JawaharLal Nehru.

All the goons were stripped 2 their underwear, paraded in the streets of Amritsar & later interned in the Cantonment.

The next day, the Chief Minister became furious and tried to release his son from the Indian Army's incarceration.

Do you know what happened?

His vehicle was not allowed to go into the Cantonment as VIP Vehicle. He was compelled to walk all the way to meet the Colonel.

The infuriated Chief Minister, Kairon complained about the whole affair to Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

Those days were different. Democracy was in a nascent stage. Leaders though powerful had some qualms and ethics. But the perplexed Prime Minister Nehru

An army which was assembled to win India's freedom eventually fading somewhere in the pages of history. They were our bravehearts who dreamt of an independent India.

Raised in Germany, this force never found its place in the hall of fame like the Indian National Army (INA). The Indian legion became tainted due to its association with the German army. Soon the legion was cornered by allies and French resistance.(1)

The survivors who made it to India never received the recognition which troopers of INA did. When netaji arrived in Berlin on April 3, 1941, the Germans wanted to weaken the British and welcomed him given his status as a pan India leader.(2)

The Germans recognised a provisional "independent India govt" in exile under netaji. They also promised him an army to help liberate India. The British Indian army prisoners of war captured from Rommels north Africa campaign were the nucleus of the this army.(3)

The legion would have acted as a pathfinder force for the planned German campaign into India. This seemed feasible as Rommel’s Afrika Korps was sweeping across north Africa with west Asia as the next target.(4)
