There was a time when @RichLowry writing something this nakedly despicable would have been unthinkable. Accusing a man of helping provoke a crime via something he wrote FOUR YEARS BEFOREHAND is the kind of ethics you want Buckley's life's work to be associated with, Rich? Really?

Beyond that stunning abandonment of conscience, @RichLowry naturally neglects to include a link to the Flight 93 Election essay, because when you're lying about something it's better the readers you're trying to deceive not have the original on hand for quick comparison.

Here is that link, where you will find that, contrary to @RichLowry's journalistic malpractice, Anton does not "valorize" Trump's flaws, argue that Trump is a "savior," or suggest that "character and norms no longer

If you don't have time for the the full essay right now, at least read the following passages and ask yourself how well they match @RichLowry's misrepresentations:

There is a strong case to be made for the Flight 93 Election essay being the single most impactful piece of political writing of the decade. I can think of no other work that has provoked so many responses, over so long, of so much anger and yet so little substance.
When are we going to start talking about the fact that this pandemic was caused by eating animals? If itā€™s not this zoonotic disease, it will be the next one. Maybe we should start talking about stopping factory farming, wet markets, ā¬‡ļø animal consumption & prevent the next one.

A great read from @derekberes ā€” who is not biased (like me!) because he is not

Top experts in nutrition, health policy, environmental policy, infectious diseases, global economics contributed to the amazing work at EAT Lancet Commission and stated the following:

ā€œWe see clear signs of dangerous vicious cycles, threatening social stability, with food as part of the cause and as an effect multiplier. The pandemic thereby exposes a fundamental fact: Resilient recovery from Covid-19 can only be achieved by radically transforming our food

systems. Infectious disease outbreaks due to virus spill-overs from animals to humans have increased over the past 20 years, from SARS, to Ebola and MERS, and now Covid-19. That increase has followed the pace of our continued expansion of food production into natural wildlife
Posting this as a separate thread bc I have a few things to say ....

First ...

It's well past "about time" that our Fed Gov't gets serious about the horror show that is #LTChomes care in Canada. We have been _warehousing_ our seniors & #PwD for DECADES, believing in the outright LIE that a public / private mix could work.

When the fuck have private - aka FOR PROFIT - models ever worked to address shortcomings in how we treat "minorities" in society? While Insuranceā„¢ļø companies sold us the pipe-dream of Freedom55 (remeber that?), seniors that missed the boat got locked away.

There is NO WORLD in which charging ppl $5000 / mo for _shared_ accommodations in a run-down building, where "nutritious meals" are something we wouldn't normally serve a dog, and residents are _abused_ .... is acceptable. NONE. šŸ¤¬

Further, there is NO WORLD in which, arguably, the _most damaging_ Premier of ON in recent history, Mike Harris, should be trusted to have the "best intentions" of anyone but himself running amok in his blackened heart. That man is human trash šŸ¤¬
