I am trying to revisit seerah half hour a day and I wanted to share something that makes me bawl like a baby. Here is the story of Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه | May Allah be pleased with him) and how he redefined what it means to be a true Friend 😇

I am going to present to you a scene after fath' Makkah [Conquest of Makkah]

During the conquest of Makkah at the entrance of the prophet ﷺ, thousands of people were coming to him to embrace Islam.

And amongst those thousands is Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه | May Allah be pleased with him). He comes with his father Abu Quhafa - an old man with a white beard and white hair, imagine the old man how he’s walking slowly with a limp and he’s walking to the prophet ﷺ.

Imagine the state of Abu Bakr's heart as he guides his father towards prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Why?
To take shahada and to give Bayah to the prophet.

So when the prophet sees Abu Quhafa he tells, why didn’t you leave the old man in his home I would have come to him.

This is the Nabi of Allah, he just conquered Makkah and yet his priority is to ease an old man's hardship, he is saying to a non-Muslim, I will come to you if you want to accept Islam.

It’s popular to read advice from highly successful people.

Their advice may be good for THEIR situation, but does it generalize to other circumstances?

Here’s my attempt to distill repeated advice from MANY highly successful people across many distinct circumstances:

1. You won’t automatically be happy when you hit your goals.

Achieving goals breeds new ones.

A terrible situation creates misery, but a good situation doesn’t imply happiness.

Happiness takes inner work, gratitude for what’s had.

The good life’s a journey, not a destination.

2. High levels of accomplishment almost always require hard work over a long period.

“Overnight successes” are rare, and are often misidentified. If you look closely, usually the person was practicing for 5-20 years before they were an “overnight success.”

Always be improving.

3. Life is unpredictable.

When young, people usually don’t know what they’re going to “do with their life.” That’s fine!

Life takes crazy, unexpected twists & turns.

Plans are great but expect to modify them.

Be adaptable and on the lookout for great, unexpected opportunities

4. Don’t let fear stop you.

Attempting hard things will bring stress, fear, and anxiety. If you avoid what you fear (more than is warranted by the level of danger) your potential will be curtailed.

Learn to push through your fears to do stressful things that are valuable.

I just read the federal court’s decision to stop the 100-day deportation pause. The court granted a temporary restraining order blocking the Biden administration from implementing its 100-day deportation pause. The TRO applies for 14 days.

The court concluded that Texas is likely to win its argument that the pause 1) violates the Immigration & Nationality Act’s requirement that migrants ordered removed from the USA be removed within 90 days, and...

2) DHS acted arbitrarily & capriciously by suddenly shifting immigration policy from the prior administration.

As a preliminary matter, the court found that Texas has standing to sue because it provided evidence “of damage to its public fisc by causing it to increase its spending on public services to illegal aliens.”

In particular, the court pointed to state expenses on emergency Medicaid, the Family Violence Program, the state’s health insurance program for children, and educational costs.
