In this thread, I will debunk the MYTH that bursting firecrackers is a new innovation that was recently introduced into dīpāvali festivities.

It will be shown that bursting firecrackers has always been intergral and central part of dīpāvali .

At the very core of this entire MYTH is the presumption that Gunpowder (cf. fireworks) was invented in China in 9th century and brought to India by Muslim rulers.

This THREAD debunks this widespread MYTH and throws light on the unknown/hidden history of dīpāvali & gunpowder.

Indeed, so widespread is this myth that gunpowder is popularly known as one of “ the "Four Great Inventions" of China”.

However, this myth starts falling apart when we examine Chinese sources themselves for the origin of Gunpowder.

According to Chinese sources themselves, an Indian Buddhist monk who brought gunpowder technology to China

In 664 CE, he discovered soils in China containing Saltpetre (primary constituent of gunpowder).

Chinese studies of Chemistry of saltpetre show evidence of Indian origin.

Of course, this is not to say that Chinese have no contribution to Gunpowder technology. They improvised it & made innovations.

However, the initial knowledge of Gunpowder came to China from India.

Those who complain that women have no right to perform sacrifices on their own must remember that men too have no right to the same without a wife.

If they know this truth they would not make the allegation that Hindu shaastras looked down upon women.

A man can perform sacrifices only with his wife. He does them for the well-being of all mankind and for his own inner purity.

It is for this purpose that, after the samavartana following the completion of his student-bachelorhood, he goes through the samskaar called marriage.

Marriage or vivaaha is known as "सहधर्मचारिणीसमप्रयोग". It means (roughly) union with a wife together with whom a man practises dharma.

The clear implication is that carnal pleasure is not its chief purpose, but the pursuit of Dharma.

The shaastras do not ask a man to pursue dharma all by himself but require him to take a helpmate for it.

The wife is called "dharma-patni", "सहधर्मचारिणी", thus underlining her connection with dharma, and not with kama or sensual pleasure.

This is the proof of the high esteem in which the shaastras hold women. The celibate-student and the ascetic alike follow the dharma of their respective aashramas (stages of life) not in association with anyone else.

A pernicious attempt to connect Hinduism with Nazism.

Audrey (@audreyTruschke) claims Indic philosophy inspired Nazism & Nazism inspired Hindu revivalism.

Audrey insists Nazi "Hakenkreuz" is nothing but "German translation" of Swastika.

She even goes on to say the Nazi translation did not erase "the basic meaning and history" of swastika.

Is this really so?

As I have mentioned elsewhere, Hitler never used the word Swastika himself. He used the word Hakenkreuz.

This claim is FALSE.

Germans did not use "Hakenkreuz" for Swastika. They used it for Christian hooked cross.

Hakenkreuz is literal German translation of "hooked cross"

But what is Hakenkreuz/ Hooked cross? What did Nazis understand by it?

What were they so enamored by this symbol? Did they see the symbol as mere translation of Indic symbol Swastika?

Did they see the Hakenkreuz as an ancient Indian symbol? Did they borrow this Indian symbol?

Only the contemporary Nazi literature can tell us what the Nazis actually thought about Swastika.

I begin by considering the views of Erich Koch. Koch was a top officer of Nazi Germany. He organised Nazi concentration camps. He was sentenced to life imprisonment after the war.

🎲 How to play trigger watchlists 🎲

1. How/When to enter:

This is NOT an exact science, there is no way to avoid fakeouts. These are KEY levels, and for that reason, provide strong moves. However, they can be hard to break due to their significance. You must manage risk.

There are two strategies I follow.
a) Conservative: Wait for a 5 minute candle to close through the trigger level. Ex: if an $AMD put trigger is under 100 and 5 minute candle closes at 10:45AM at 99.85, take the position.

b) Risky: Playing the first sign of follow through. Ex: $AMD closes 5m candle at 10:45AM at 100.15 - No trigger. At 10:47AM, $AMD fails 100 support and closes 10:47 1m candle at 99.80. I would likely take a position off of key support failure.

2. Fakeouts/Stop losses

Taking losses is inevitable in trading. Our job is to minimize them. My rule here is -10% hard stop loss because you can always re-add the position.

Suppose you take a position from Ex a) $AMD immediately reverses and closes 10:50 5m candle at 110.15…

Your position is red, likely down ~10%. Cut the loser and reassess. Your reason for playing was the 100 breakdown, it is now INVALID. As soon as your thesis becomes invalid, cut, take a deep breath, reassess, watch.

Thread: Pivot levels

Trading based on Pivot levels is one of the popular approaches. Both short-term and intraday traders track Pivot levels to identify support and resistance levels in any instrument.

Let’s discuss how these levels are calculated.

The pivot calculation method considers the previous day prices to calculate the support and resistance levels.

There are seven levels marked on the chart when we plot Pivot as a tool.

There is a Pivot level, 3 support levels (S1, S2 & S3) & 3 resistance levels (R1, R2 & R3).

We have four prices for any trading session - Open, High, Low, Close.

They give us the important information about what happened during that session. Levels is calculated using the High, Low & Closing price of the previous day. Let’s understand Pivot calculation with an example

The difference between high and low is a range of the day.

High – Low = Range
In our example, range of the session is 10 points.

105 – 95 = 10

Mid-price of the session is average of high and low price.

The Mid-price in this case would be 100.
(105 + 95) / 2.

Mid-price is average of range of the session. How about including the closing price to this calculation?

If we calculate the average of High, Low and Closing price - we get the Pivot point.

(105 + 95 + 103) = 101 is the Pivot level in our example.

|| Duties of Brahmins ||

Based on the discourses of Mahaperiyava Swamigal, this thread deals with the duties of Brahmins. The duties propounded in this thread must be practised even by the office-going Brahmins.

It is upto Brahmins to take whatever steps they think fit to promote Vedic learning.

Everyday they must perform Brahmayajña (ब्रह्मयज्ञ) which is one of the five great sacrifices (mahayajñas).

The Brahma (ब्रह्म) in Brahmayajña means the Vedas. The power of the mantras must be preserved in us as an eternal reality.

It must burn bright like a lamp that is never extinguished. For this reason it is necessary that we perform Brahmayajña.

We must offer oblations to the presiding seers (ऋषि) of our Vedic recension.

Failing that, the least we can do is perform the Gayatri-japa every day.

Gayatri is the essence of the Vedas, their substance. To qualify to chant it, you must be initiated into it by a Guru.

The Gayatri you thus learn must be mentally repeated at least a thousand times every day.
