A thread on an interesting report by Goldman Sachs' Peter Oppenheimer, the bank's chief global equity strategist. He points out that Goldman's "Bear Market Risk Indicator" is looking ominous.

There are three factors that suggest that the recent stability could evaporate and that equities are "about to enter a sustained bear market", Oppenheimer says.

First is the fact that growth, inflation and interest rate outlook is unfriendly for equities.

Second is that greater volatility, such as multiple corrections and new peaks (which we've seen in 2018) tend to presage a full bear market.

Here is Goldman's data showing how falls and bounces tend to come ahead of "the dramatic final fall".

102 Korean men, women, and children arrived in Honolulu aboard the SS Gaelic to work in Hawaii’s sugar plantations. By 1905, Koreans comprised 11% of Hawaii’s plantation workforce—around 7000 people.

This first wave of Korean immigrants arrived amid sharpening imperialist rivalry in the Pacific. Korea had slowly been losing its independence for decades, and by 1903 was just two years away from becoming a protectorate of Japan.

At the same time, the US was consolidating its position in the Pacific, annexing Hawaii, Guam, and the Philippines in 1898, and partitioning Samoa in 1899.

US missionaries colluded with the Hawaiian Sugar Planters Association to secure a new, cheap labor force for Hawaii’s sugar fields. Many of the Koreans who arrived in Hawaii from 1903-1905 were Methodists.

MAHADEV AND BHAKTA KANNAPPA/ THINNADU

A couple of Boya caste in Udumooru village of Andhra Pradesh had a son Thinnadu. He was good at archery and was a Shiv Bhakt.
Everyday Thinnadu hunted a wild animal and offered it on a Shivlinga in the forest mandir.

The same Shivlinga was worshipped by a Brahman who was horrified at the way Thinnadu made the blood-smeared offering to Shiva.
One day, when the Brahman was near the Mandir, he saw Thinnadu coming carrying a dead animal in hands and water in his mouth for offering on Shivlinga.

But that day, Thinnadu saw blood oozing out from the left eye on the Shivlinga. He tried to apply forest herbs but blood did not stop. So Thinnadu cut his left eye and placed it on the Shivlinga. Blood stopped immediately.
Now the right eye on Shivlinga started dripping blood.

Thinnadu decided to offer his right eye too but without eyesight he would not know where to place the eye on Shivlinga correctly.
So he lifted his leg and put his toe on the right side of Shivlinga to mark the place where he would put his eye later.

Shiva then appeared n stopped him. The brahman also realised the fierce n true devotion of Thinnadu.
Thinnadu got the name Kannappa Nayanar (he who offered his eye to Prabhu).
The forest Mandir is revered today as Kannappa Mandir, Srikalahasti.

Guruvayur Kesavan is one of the majestic elephants who served Guruvayurappan for 54 years. Valiya Raja of Nilambur once prayed to the Shri Krishna to save his family and property from the enemies attack and promised

To offer an elephant. His wish was fulfilled and he offered an elephant which later became the famous Guruvayur Kesavan. Kesavan was 10 years old when he came.

Anayottam which will be held to decide who will take Thidambu of Krishna is won by Kesavan for many years.

In 1973, Kesavan was honored with title "GAJARAJAN" (king of elephants ).

On December 2, 1976 it was Guruvayur Ekadashi. When Thidambu was placed on his back, Kesavan began shivering while walking, so Thidambu was placed on another elephant. Kesavan did a pradakshina around the

Temple and was taken to the compound where he lay with his trunk stretched towards Krishna and breathed his last, 54 years after serving faithfully. His tusks can still be seen adorning the entrance of the Guruvayur temple. The unique tale of Kesavan shows that even in death,

he showed true Bhakthi.

A statue of about 12 feet is made to show respect to Kesavan. Kesavan still continues to live in the hearts and memories of people who speak of him fondly.

Hey, who wants to read a story about @Upwork fucking over freelancers in order to upsell their clients on unnecessary services the clients don't want and can't afford? Strap in!

So after my marketing agency closed I started freelancing again. A marketing company that wanted to work with me only hires freelance writers through @Upwork. So I signed up. I wasn't thrilled about it, but that's who they contract with and it's their marketing company.

I've been receiving regular assignments from this company, thru @Upwork, for over a month now. I've written dozens of articles for them. My work has been exemplary. I've been handling repeated rush jobs and delivering. The client was and is very happy. That's coming from them.

While I was wrapping up several assignments this week I was contacted by the marketing company. They asked if I had taken a new full-time job and wasn't available anymore. It seems @Upwork's talent group told them I was no longer available to take assignments.

I was very surprised. Nothing had changed on my end. I still needed the freelance work very much. I told them so. So the marketing company pressed @Upwork and were told there were "compliance" issues that were preventing the marketing company from giving me any more work.

Also known as Master Da ,was born on 22 March 1894 at Noapara in Chittagong. In the year of 1918,he became a mathematics teacher at the National school, Nandankanan. This was the time when the Indians started to involve themselves in the freedom struggle.

The suppression of peasants, labors, and incidents like the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the partition of Bengal by the British government transformed Surya Sen into a nationalist revolutionary.

He was heavily inspired by the Bolshevik revolution.

By now the revolutionary organizations like Jugantar Party and Anushilan Samiti were working with the INC for the betterment of the Indians. Surya Sen didn’t agree on this.

Mahatma Gandhi's Non-Cooperation movement gained quite momentum and many people supported it but when Gandhi called it out bcoz of the Chauri Chaura incident,
many people didn’t agree with his decision and later decided to launch their own revolution through violence.

When the movement was called off there was a significant rise in revolutionary activities. Even those who first agreed and supported the INC and Gandhji now decided to adopt the path of revolution to attain 'Swaraj'.

Valayanad Bhagavathi is the family temple of the Zamorin Kings, who were the rulers of Kozhikode. Sthala puranam says how Devi came here A Fight occured between Zamorin and Valluvanad king in which the Zamorians were

defeated. Zamorians thought that Devi's blessings was with Valluvanad king, and started Devi Upasana.
Satisfied with the Pooja, Devi decided to come with Zamorians on a condition that she will stay at the place where they turn back and check her.

After a while of walking Zamorin turned back and Devi stood there as per her condition. But because of their devotion Devi throw her bangle, and the spot where it fell will always have her presence. Thus the bangle Devi threw rotated for a week and landed at the place where the

temple now stands. The place where the bangle rotated for a week came to be known as Azhchavattom (Azhcha means Week) and the place where the bangle fell became Thiruvalayanad, (Vala means Bangle).The Sreechakra, designed by the great Sivayogi Thayyavur Sivasankar👇

Kuchela Dinam is celebrated on the first Wednesday of Malayalam Month of Dhanu.
It was this day Kuchela ( Sudhama) went to meet his Childhood friend Shri Krishna at Dwaraka.

Kuchela who was very poor, was requested by his wife to seek Krishna’s help, who was the King of Dwaraka. Kuchela did not wish to go bare-handed to meet his friend. So Kuchela’s wife went several houses and handed over👇

Aval (poha)tied in a piece of cloth to offer to the Bhagwan. There were hardly three mouthfulls of the “aval” when Kuchela reached Dwarka

Krishna who saw Kuchela approaching the palace from far, was very happy that he ran out into the streets to embrace him.

Kuchela was escorted into the palace by Krishna. Shri Krishna made him sit on his throne and along with Rukminidevi washed Kuchelan’s feet and served with food.

Krishna spotted the aval ( poha) that Kuchelan was attempting to hide.

Krishna grabbed it from Kuchela and ate mouthful of it.
From that movement poverty disappeared from Kuchelan’s house. Thus Aval Nivedhyam is considered famous for Shri Krishna.
