THIS.

Russia hasn't been a willing partner in this treaty for almost 3 decades. We should have ended the pretense long ago.

Naturally, Rand Paul is telling anyone who will listen to him that Trump is making a HUGE MISTAKE here.

Rand is just like his dad, Ron. 100% isolationist.

They've never grasped that 100% isolationist is not 'America First' when you examine it. It really means 'America Alone'.
The consistent grousing of pursuing military alliances with allies - like Trump is doing now with Saudi Arabia.

So of course Rand has also spent the last 2 days loudly calling for Trump to kill the arms deal with Saudi Arabia and end our alliance with them.
What Obama was engineering with his foreign policy was de facto isolationism: pull all the troops out of the ME, abandon the region to Iranian control as a client state of Russia.

Obama wasn't building an alliance with Iran; he was facilitating abandoning the ME to Iran.
Obama wouldn't even leave behind a token security force, so of course what happened was the rise of ISIS. He also pumped billions of dollars into the Iranian coffers, which the Mullah's used to fund destabilizing activity [wars/terrorism] & criminal enterprises all over the globe
Well guess what? Rand Paul SUPPORTED Obama's Iran Deal for this very reason: hey it got us out of the region, right? Who cares what happens to it? He was VERY upset Trump was going to scrap it to form an alliance with Saudi Arabia & the GCC in opposition to Iran.
And no, I'm not making this up:

https://t.co/GsjyUOXWM8
At the time Obama was making the deal, Paul said he was against it. Once Trump started talking about ending the Deal and forging an alliance with Saudi Arabia, all of a sudden Rand Paul was everywhere trying to save the Iran Deal.

https://t.co/KiggcLR3Wz
Paul was against what he called any new Middle East entaglements. No new alliances, no new NOTHING was his policy.

https://t.co/dNQgms7AWd
So by the time Trump was elected & started making overtures to Saudi Arabia, Paul had done a 180 on the Iran Deal & was now saying a Russian-backed nuclear Iran with a hegemony over the entire Middle East was just fine with him.
Threats - especially NUCLEAR threats - don't go away just because you insist on a policy of isolationism and abandon your allies to deal with the threats themselves.

This is why Rand Paul or anyone holding to his FP views needs to be kept away from any real say an FP.
Trump is about the furthest thing from a war mongering neo-con there is, but I don't think Rand Paul can see that.

Keep this in mind as Paul spends the next week or so loudly calling for abandoning Saudi Arabia & staying in the IMF treaty.

/end
And here's Wictor's take on this news that Trump is telling Putin we're thinking of pulling out of the INF treaty:

https://t.co/HAba7bMjaO
Hey can everybody just pretend I didn't mistype the acronym of the treaty multiple times in this thread, calling it the IMF instead of the accurate INF?

Thanks!

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY FOLLOWERS MUST RT THE FOLLOWING THREAD TO MAKE IT GO VIRAL.

THIS NEEDS TO GET OUT *RIGHT THE HECK

As Wictor was saying, this was an attempt to frame the Saudis. Guy connected to an AQ terrorist who attempted to ASSASSINATE Mohommad Bin Salman is the *source* for these Kashoggi stories.

If this had been known *from the beginning* we wouldn't have gotte 3 days of media hysteria over an attempt to frame Mohmmad Bin Salman and Saudi Arabia for Kashoggi's disappearance.

The media's MAIN SOURCE for these stories about the disappearance of Khashoggi is an underling of the Al Queda guy that tried to ASSASSINATE the Saudi's Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman a few years ago.

The media has been HIDING this until now....
Here's the great thing: JW is eventually going to get those Benghazi emails. Don't know about getting Clinton & Co. to testify under oath, but all JW really needs is those emails.

The emails from Clinton's server on Benghazi are going to show:

1) they knew it was a AQ terrorist attack from the start
2) they decided to leave those people in Benghazi hanging out there on their own.

Since plenty of 'missing' Hillary Clinton emails have turned up [remember the 700,000 Clinton emails on the Weiner laptop? I do! *gigglesnort!*] you can bet they are covered in JW's FOIA lawsuit.

Reminder: Comey managed to BULLSHIT everybody that 'all' the emails had been reviewed using this cool new technique to sort through 700,000 emails in just a few days. Then this came out:

The fact that Comey claimed his crack FBI team - with Peter Sztrok on it! managed to review 700,000 emails in a marathan 12 hour span was clearly bullshit.

And now it's been proven to be bullshit.
Thread in progress that makes an excellent point: Far Left Progressives thought they had ALREADY WON. And I mean already won *permanently*.

After Obama won in 2008 there were numerous articles/books about the New Permanent Democratic

James Carville among others were crowing "The DemuhKRATS are gunna beah in POWAH faw FAWTY YEAHS!"

Obama easily beating Romney in 2012 only entrenched this notion.

Republican gains in the House in 2010/12/14, hey just minor setbacks, soon to be corrected!

The arrogant triumphalism on the part of the Progressives was insufferable in 2008 and by 2012 it was even worse.

Republicans had a dying party, I was told. Democratic Presidents & an activist judiciary would keep that GOP house in line until 'common sense' prevailed.

This is why 2 years later, Progressives are still throwing tantrums and refusing to accept what happened.

They truly believed what they were told, that it was all over and they had won.

You're watching people go through an existential crisis.

Control of the Executive branch and control of the Judicial branch were key essentials to enacting and then enforcing a large part of the Progressive agenda for America.

And they'd won, you see. The redneck bitter clingers out there couldn't stop the coming transformation.
Yes, Trump and his team had seen this stunt before. THIS time they have the Mexican gov't on our side to protect the new trade agreement.

How many got through the last time they pulled this stunt? Did they get the huge photo op of the kids being separated from their parents that they wanted?

Would people STOP PRETENDING they don't know Trump is ready for this?

Sheer panic in my mentions. 'OMG THEY GOT THROUGH A FENCE NOTHING'S GONNA STOP THEM NOW ARGLE BARGLE BARF!"

Grow the hell up.

Some of them are still coming, you say? Well my goodness, I guess that means there's nothing Trump can do now.

He's finished, isn't he? 🤔

I'm reminded again why Thomas Wictor had to frequently tell people DON'T BRING ME YOUR FEAR, I'm not interested in it. Take it somewhere else.

If this caravan actually DOES make it our border, Trump will have measures ready to deal with it.

Stop the hysteria.

I like this heuristic, and have a few which are similar in intent to it:

Hiring efficiency:

How long does it take, measured from initial expression of interest through offer of employment signed, for a typical candidate cold inbounding to the company?

What is the *theoretical minimum* for *any* candidate?

How long does it take, as a developer newly hired at the company:

* To get a fully credentialed machine issued to you
* To get a fully functional development environment on that machine which could push code to production immediately
* To solo ship one material quanta of work

How long does it take, from first idea floated to "It's on the Internet", to create a piece of marketing collateral.

(For bonus points: break down by ambitiousness / form factor.)

How many people have to say yes to do something which is clearly worth doing which costs $5,000 / $15,000 / $250,000 and has never been done before.
