And then remember Canadian, especially Albertan, conservatives are moving in this direction and have been supportive of Trump’s cabal, since the beginning.

In fact many still are openly supportive of the far right even after January 6, 2021.

The violence in this video is disturbing. You’ll witness death chants, a scaffold with noose, a shooting and an officer suffering intense trauma from being crushed.

What is amazing to me are the videos of people relaxing in their hotels afterwards that are circulating on social media.

How mentally warped must you be to calmly sit down with drinks and bar snacks after attempting a violent coup?

And maybe that’s why Keean Bexte is rushing back to Canada. He was there. In full support of the initiative. Now he’s desperate to get to Canadian protection from American prison cells for supporting a violent coup in a foreign nation.

Bexte is a fugitive of sorts. His videos, rhetoric and behaviour choices are seriously in question. There is no doubt the FBI will want to confiscate his recordings. Extradition would make prosecution years away. Huawei’s extradition battle demonstrates that reality.

Second, this isn’t just Lectern and Viking Guy and a deranged President. This letter was sent by a parent in New Canaan whose child’s teacher had offered suggestions on how to talk to kids about the attack. Every sentence is provably untrue and filled with hate and violence. 3/9

For context, New Canaan is an enormously affluent, educated center-right town. It’s GOP, but old-school New England Republican. I actually won the town for the first time in 2020, thank you Donald Trump.

The investigation into what happened at the Capitol will need to include deep financial forensics to determine the extent to which it was an Astroturf Rebellion

The lesson here is not "OMG big tech is more powerful than the president, this isn't how it's supposed to be!" but "Even the president is not exempt from the rules we all agreed to follow, that is exactly how it's supposed to be."

I'm starting to think Marvin Lewis is one of the more underappreciated NFL coaches of the past couple decades. Staying 16 years in one place is TOUGH, and I feel like people have forgotten a lot of context along the way.

In the 12 years before Marvin Lewis arrived, the Bengals were 55-137. In the two years since he left, they are 6-25-1. That's 14 years and 0 playoff appearances.

Lewis was 131-122-3 with 7 playoff appearances.

Lewis took over a 2-14 team in 2003. His first three years, he went 8-8, 8-8 and 11-5.

He got his QB in Year 2 in Carson Palmer and reached the playoffs in Year 3. But on his very first throw, Palmer tore his knee.

So, we begin the narrative that Lewis was 0-7 in playoff games. Fair criticism to a point. But here were his seven QBs for those playoff games:

I’ll also go on another Orwell tangent: Conservatives love calling any new “woke” word that enters common usage as “Orwellian”, because they don’t want to be “forced” by social pressure to learn new terminology important to people whose humanity they refuse to acknowledge anyway

But Newspeak is a version of English where descriptive words have been removed, not added. 1984 is written with a deeply limited vocabulary set.......so in fact, conservatives share an ideology with *the villains* of 1984.

Newspeak is not called that because the words are new. It’s called that because that’s *exactly* what authoritarian fascists would call a restrictive language set, it’s propaganda. The state in the book came up with the name, and that context is important

It’s “Newspeak” for the same reason they’re “National Socialists”, an intentional misnomer intended to obscure reality, to wear down your defences. Fascists don’t call a spade a spade, they point at a cloudy sky and say “it is sunny”, until you’re tired of arguing with them.

Fascists may claim to value free speech, but they jump at the chance to censor specific words, and it’s not the words they themselves would use. That’s why they hate obscenities and any kind of terminology related to social justice, but not slurs.

It's very simple & short as it's a little over 3 pages. Article 1 is entitled, "Incitement of Insurrection". It focuses on the Trump rally in front of the WH during the deliberations on the electoral vote count in Congress in which he made false claims about the election.

The resolution next states that Trump "willfully made statements that encouraged—and foreseeably resulted in—imminent lawless action at the Capitol." He incited a riot which resulted in a mob attacking the Capitol and interfering in the process to certify the results.

The resolution brings up the phone call w/Raffensperger to 'find votes' to overturn the GA result to establish a long pattern & practice of Trump attempting to subvert election results. His activities threatened national security & interfered with a peaceful transition of power.

Because Trump represents an enduring threat to national security, the resolution calls for impeachment, trial, removal
from office, and "disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States." That's it.

So when it first appeared in Normandy, the Sherman Firefly and it's meaty 17 pounder represented an ideal combo of reliable chassis, great gun and devastating firepower right?

Armoured Regiments mostly utilised Fireflies on a basis of 1 per troop of 4 tanks. /2

Finally each armoured regiment troop had access to integral, meaty, anti-tank firepower capable of dealing serious damage to any German AFV likely to be encountered. /3

The dual purpose 75mm gun was quite capable of laying down a reasonable HE shell or AP round for dealing with Panzer III or IV.

Firefly's 17 Pounder had.... problems with HE, but excelled at tank killing. So Tigers and Panthers would need to be wary. /4
