Timing is everything. And it's nothing.

When you do something has a huge impact on it's impact.

Don't worry, you can't perfectly time anything, so instead, just choose to act on what's most important NOW.

Use the concept of compounding in everything!

2: The Art Of War

The mind is your most powerful weapon. All else is just a tool.

Leverage strengths. Minimize weaknesses.

Don't fool yourself into thinking you're something you aren't.

Some days, living to fight another day is your only option. Be grateful for life.

3: The Corner Office by Adam Bryant

Meh.

The best lessons of this book are better taught by Carol Dweck and Angela Duckworth. Read Mindset and Grit.

Some CEO's have no idea how they got to where they are, and less idea how to get you there.

4: The Power Of Habit by Charles Duhigg

One of the best of the year.

Key habits can impact all else. Start working out and watch your desire to drink water and eat better improve.

Ignore habits forming at your own risk. They create or destroy, but you choose.

I’ve seen lots of people defending porn and BDSM on this website recently, and a lot of other people critiquing them for it. I feel like both sides miss something important that the other side has to say. I usually stay out of this debate, but I feel quite strongly about this.

The critics of BDSM have many things right. The fact that BDSM is used as a smoke screen by abusive men who murder their partners and then blame it on a “sex game gone wrong” should appal all right thinking people.

Pornography/ 50 shades have mainstreamed many of the more extreme practices of BDSM, including choking and anal. This mainstreaming has not brought with it any understanding of consent, or how to reduce the risks associated with more extreme practices.

This has led to young women being pressured into painful and humiliating sex acts that they do not want, did not ask for, and do not understand, without having any trust in their partner to carry out the acts safely, or even with regard to their own desires. This is appalling.

Many defenders of BDSM would agree with all of this. No really, they would. The argument is that if you are pressuring an unwilling partner, murdering people, if you are a dom who has no concern for your sub’s experience, you are not practicing BDSM, you are being abusive.

In a community, people share common values. They feel identified.

When you build a community, you host the conversation. When you build and show you have an audience. It's not bad, but It's not great.

A community is a two-way avenue. An audience is a one-way street.

With a community you will get better feedback, and new ideas.

With an audience, you are going to push content not ideas.

You can't value your community on metrics. Each user will have a different experience. It's Subjective.

People hang out in a place because they are learning or they are having a good time. Aim to entertain or teach.

Build a space where people want to be.
