Morrie the Professor on his deathbed ( due to ALS) & Mitch , his super successful student meet after a gap of 16 long years for ONE LAST CLASS every Tuesday .

The subject being " The Meaning of Life " , taught purely from experience with a funeral in lieu of graduation .

We are busy doing things we THINK are important , mostly because we are chasing the wrong things.

We have forgotten what truly matters - Be it People or Things & hence are often unhappy.

CHAPTER 1

What we experience early on (in our adult life) is more compelling than what we learn second hand, which is why each person thinks about #Risk & #Reward DIFFERENTLY.

In theory we SHOULD make our investments based on OUR goals & options available.

However we tend to include our unique experiences of how the world works (albeit with incomplete information) which might seem crazy to others .

* Spreadsheets cannot replicate human emotions which is why no amount of studying can make one truly UNDERSTAND the underlying.

CHAPTER 2

#LUCK & #RISK both play a role for EVERY outcome along with individual effort. At times making a greater impact than the consequential actions taken .
This we ought to remember when judging others' financial success.

Not ALL SUCCESS is due to hard work.

Likewise, NOT ALL POVERTY is due to laziness.

To learn from successful people, we must focus on BROAD PATTERNS & not on specific individuals ( for we often tend to just study extreme cases at both ends of the spectrum. )

It's never AS GOOD or AS BAD as it seems !!

A spectacular book that focuses on building HABITS following SYSTEMS to achieve RESULTS - Instead of the traditional GOAL BASED approach.

It's a highly engaging read with plenty of practical examples .

A SOUND MIND IN A SOUND BODY .

Both our MIND & BODY must be exercised well to avoid deterioration in latter years of life .

Have a mental workout routinely by stepping out of your COMFORT ZONE.
Expose yourself to CHANGE.

For a sound body there's no need to exercise relentlessly . Regular Yoga, Surya namaskar and Gardening is more than enough.

Don't be a couch potato! 🤷 Keep moving !
Our metabolism slows down just after 30 min of sitting sedentary.

Hence TAKE TIME OFF every now & then .

Find a way that's least troublesome but automatically separates the 2.

Moving onto Emergencies . This pandemic has made so many of us realise the importance of it .

Another interesting facet :
Unwillingness to take risks comes from the FEAR of not having money when needed - typically why Bank F.Ds are preferred.

Hence the EMERGENCY fund.

*It shall DIFFER from person to person.
*Understand HOW to go about it & BUILD up your fund.
*It takes 2-3 months time to figure out our expenses & 6 months - 1year atleast to build up this fund.
*So be patient ! 🤷

It takes just one Hospital visit to realise the importance of a comprehensive Health cover . 🙄🤷
