Maharshi Veda Vyasa’s compassionate contribution towards the upliftment of humanity is incredible. As time is the biggest devourer of everything, few centuries after His advent, around 72 different Anti-Vedic schools appeared on the horizon.

Vedas r thoroughly misinterpreted suiting one’s convenience & such propaganda reached its pinnacle. It’s like the gigantic tree of Sanatana Dharma is encircled in poisonous creepers producing poisonous fruits & covered by thorny bushes, which though r attributed 2 d tree itself.
Chaos prevailed all over. In such dangerous situation, Sanatana Dharma needed one who has clarity in direction, command in Vedas, conviction in Dharma, control over senses, capacity to organize, and courage to establish truth. All the gods decided to seek the help of Lord Siva..
They all went to Lord Dakshinamurti & said "Till now, You have been catering towards the intellectual community, which is not sufficient. Of course, to come down to earth, You have to hide two hands and third eye." Lord Dakshinamurti adhered to the request of gods.
He hid His two upper hands and left the bottom two hands that contain the book and chinmudra i.e. the symbol of Self-knowledge. He sent His third eye backward. Thus, Lord Dakshinamurti came down to earth as Sankara Bhagavatpada. Sage Vidyaranya described this as below.
As Prahlada mentioned, this world is full of ignorance, lack of divine knowledge, and endangered in the cycle of births and deaths. Hence, the compassionate Lord left His abode and silence to come out onto this earth as Sankaracharya to grace the entire humanity.
When Sivaguru (Father of Shankara) is worried about not being able to carry his lineage forward, Aryamba suggests the worship of Lord Siva and assures him that ‘नो देवतासु जडिमा जडिमा मनुष्ये’ i.e. humans could remain insensitive and irresponsive to other humans, but never God.
She gives the episode of Maharshi Upamanyu as an example. She also emphasizes that no spiritual practice seeking God shall go in vain. Accordingly, they worshipped Lord Siva with rigorous austerities in the kshetra of Vrishachala following fasting, tapas, abhisheka and others.
After some time, Lord Siva appeared in Sivaguru’s sub-conscious vision as a Vedic Brahmin with vibhuti across forehead, knotted hair mound on the back, ear rings and sacred thread. He said, ‘Listen me carefully - Do you want to have only one son who is going to be highly virtuous
intelligent, and omniscient? Or, do you want one hundred sons who are wicked and dullard?’ Without giving chance to any second thought and not even wasting a split second, Sivaguru immediately wished that he should be blessed with only one son who would be omniscient.
Lord Siva granted his boon and disappeared instantly. Sivaguru woke up Aryamba and explained her about his dream and the boon of Lord Siva. Having thus been blessed by Siva, they both returned to Kaladi. Soon, Aryamba became pregnant. As she advanced in her pregnancy, she became
more devout, pious & detached to worldly things. Sometimes, during her sleep, she used to hear words such as ‘Jaya Jaya’ , ‘Raksha Raksha’ etc. Gradually, 9 months completed. The virtuous Aryamba begot Sri Shankara on the auspicious Vaisaka sukla panchami.
when the star attributed to Lord Shiva, Arudra was in ascendance with the Sun, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars in exaltation. Examining the horoscope, scholars mentioned that the boy is born for a cause and that
cause is to bestow auspiciousness upon the entire universe.
Even the science of signs indicate that the boy is an incarnation of Lord Siva. He has the sign of moon on top of the head, third eye on forehead, and trident on both arms.

Hence, they named the boy ‘Sankara’ i.e. ‘Sam Agryam Kurute Iti Sankara:’ i.e. one who bestows wellness,
happiness, and peace by doing propitious things.

Along with the Lord, Subrahmanya & Vishnu came as Sananda, Brahma as Sureswara etc.

In fact, Sankara’s advent on this earth is to rejuvenate the works of Maharshi Vyasa and thereby establish firmly Sanatana Dharma again.
It’s not any exaggeration to emphasize that what ordinary mortals could not even imagine accomplishing in 30,000 years, Sri Adi Shankara achieved in a short span of 32 years. From the age of eight, Sankara toured across the length and breadth of the country thrice thrashing
anti Vedic religions, rituals, practices, cults, traditions, and systems with apt references & substantiations from Vedas & other relevant scriptures apart from composing monumental works such as Sivananda Lahari on Siva, Soundarya Lahari on Kamakshi, Bhaja Govindam on Vishnu etc

significance & worship to be performed on a rare combination occurring Jan 12th

In the culture of Bhāratadēśa, ‘Time’ has great significance. Tithis, days of the week, stars – everything has its own distinction. All the beings are bound by time and time is in the control of God.

With compassion, the Supreme God graced that one performing worship in some special stipulated times acquires special merits. This is true in case of every deity. Worship of a particular deity on a particular tithi bestows the grace of that particular deity quickly and certainly.

Among those, Kr̥ṣṇāṁgāraka Caturdaśi is imp. The combination of Tuesday & Caturdaśi in the dark fortnight is a great occasion.

Aṅgāraka (Mars) planet is the king of all the planets. The reason for this is mentioned below that Aṅgāraka is the son of Śiva.
