A poet, philosopher, metaphysician, bhakti song writer, establishing 4 peethas and what not : all this in just 32 years.

He wrote Bhashyas on ten major Upanishads, the Brahman sutras and commented on Bhagavad Gita.

#ShankaraJayanti

To unite all kinds of people, he created two types:

1. Those who believed in 🌺Saguna Brahman🌺

When Brahman does the work of creation, preservation and destruction with the help of his maya (माया), Brahman (ब्रह्म) is called as saguna brahman.
People from different parts worshipped different deities. To create harmony between all, he created Panchayatan, in which only 5 main forms of dieties will be worshipped, that is, Ganpati, Shiva, Vishnu, Devi (Ambika), and Surya.
2. Those who believed in 💮Nirguna Brahman (निर्गुण ब्रह्म)💮

Nirguna brahman is a considered as formless, indivisible, unchanging, attributeless, beyond maya and peaceful. Brahman is Sat-Chit-Anand. And for those who believe this, all dieties combine into one Brahman.
🌼Advaita🌼

The word 'Advaita' ( अद्वैत ) means non-duality. It is a philosophy which describes that there is only one reality and one truth i.e. Brahman. All else is not real, not eternal and is of transient nature.

#Shankarajayanthi
Advaita Vedanta teaches that this world is transient, temporary, adobe of sorrows, and mithya (मिथ्या).

It is due to the power of God's Maya (illusion) that this world looks different than Brahman. Brahman alone is reality.

#Shankaracharya
Advaita asks one to raise from Sharira bhava (शरीर भाव) to Jiva bhava (जीव भाव) to Atma Bhava (आत्म भाव). According to Advaita, Jiva (जीव) and Shiva (शिव, brahman, ब्रह्म ) are not different.

#AdiShankaracharya
Entire advaita can be summed up:

ब्रह्म सत्यं जगन्मिथ्या जीवो ब्रहैव नापरः

अनेन वेद्यं सच्छास्त्रमिति वेदान्तडि्ण्डिमः ब्रह्म ज्ञानावलीमाला।।

Brahman (ब्रह्म) is real, the universe is mithya (मिथ्या), it cannot be categorized as either real or unreal.

#शंकराचार्यजयंती
The jiva (जीव) is Brahman (ब्रह्म) itself and not different. This should be understood as the correct SAstra (शास्त्र). This is proclaimed by Vedanta.

Such was the greatness of Adi Shankaracharya 🙏🏽🙏🏽

To do a Namaskaar or bow before someone means that you are humble or without pride and ego. This means that we politely bow before you since you are better than me. Pranipaat(प्राणीपात) also means the same that we respect you without any vanity.

Surrendering False pride is Namaskaar. Even in devotion or bhakti we say the same thing. We want to convey to Ishwar that we have nothing to offer but we leave all our pride and offer you ourselves without any pride in our body. You destroy all our evil karma.

2/9

We bow before you so that you assimilate us and make us that capable. Destruction of our evils and surrender is Namaskaar. Therefore we pray same thing before and after any big rituals.
