Things I know after Trading for 5 years that I wish I knew in my 1st year: 🧵

1. Stop trying to focus on theta decay to earn money. Use Price Action to build your capital & get profitable.

2. Quit Averaging trades. It is the worst thing you can do to your account.

3. Instead of averaging, reduce quantities when wrong and increase quantities when right.

4. Spend money on learning from the best. Don't spend too many years being in losses.

5. You can avoid big drawdowns as long as you focus on money management a lot.

6. If you were in losses, focus on how the best traders are earning and try to learn from them.

7. Non-directional trading is not the safest way of trading. Being against the trend can blow up your account.

8. Put some money into learning option selling. Start compounding with that knowledge. Let compounding work its wonders.

9. Focus more on learning. Less on negativity.

10. Focus less on building followers & more on providing maximum value.

11. Rather than showing off cars & vacation spots. Build friendships & relations with traders with a similar mindset to you.

12. Not every day will be a green day. Learn to accept losses and red days.

1/ Breakout Failure

Above 42700, all traders were expecting a breakout.

But do you know failed breakouts are more powerful than breakouts?

Sharp selling will happen if a failed breakdown occurs and he was fully prepared for it.


2/ Hints

He was giving hints from 1-2 months for Option Buyers regarding when they should buy options at a low IV.

The current market scenario was one where the premiums were too low.

According to him, one should plan for a buying trade during such scenarios and target big.

3/ Gap down sharp selling

Prefers 12 o clock momentum usually whenever there is a gap-down scenario.

Already the market above 42700 buyers weren't strong enough. So on Thursday in a gap-down scenario, he was expecting a big downfall.

4/ What trade he took?

He bought 36,000 qty of puts of 42500 strike at 92 and exited them at 391.

(43200 qty is an error by him, correct qty should be 36,000)

14 things to learn from him for trading FinNifty (for free):

(1) Small Account

First of all, let me tell you, he is trading Finnifty in only his small account.

His main expertise is Bank Nifty so he is keeping his main account only for that.

After 1 year of successful Finnifty trading, he will start with his bigger account as well.

(2) What returns to target in Finnifty?

He only trades this index for three days, i.e Friday, Monday and Tuesday.

His goal is to make 1% from here and another 1% through Bank Nifty.

This gives him a 2% week if he plays this well which is his main strength.

(3) Level-Based Trading:

He is a level-based trader, and won't book losses until his level comes.

If the level does not come, he will eat all the premiums & profit.

If the level breaks, whatever loss it shows him, he will book.

(4) How does he find his levels?

He will monitor the highest high and the lowest low of the three days i.e Fri, Mon & Tue.

Those levels he is mostly interested in shorting aggressively.

If no premiums there he will come closer.

1/ How did he begin his journey?

Started stock market journey in 2012. Went into full-time in 2021.

Colleagues used to invest in mutual funds and that's how he started in the stock markets.

Started to make 8-10% return per year initially.

2/ Initial Profits

After that he attended a seminar due to his friend where he understood that there's a term called Futures and Options as well.

He had 4 lakh rupees, so he started with that amount.

3/ Lost 60% of his capital

In the next 5 days, his capital grew to 5 lakh rupees followed by another increase of 1 lakh profit in the next 5 days.

In the coming 10 days post his profits, his capital reduced to 2 lakh from 6 lakh.

4/ Instrument traded?

Which instrument was he trading during that initial period?

He was trading full quantities in futures and options buying during that time, without any hedging.

Most people have no clarity regarding synthetics & are just too confused.

Let's begin understanding synthetics & how they can help us trade with a clear understanding!

Synthetics are formed by the mixture/combinations of any two of the following three.

1. Calls
2. Puts
3. Futures/Stocks

You don't even need to touch futures/stocks. Whatever kind of payoff graph you want, you can get via options only.

Fut buy + Put buy= Call buy
Ft buy + Call sell = Put sell
Ft sell + Call buy = Put Buy
Ft sell + Put sell = Call sell

Ft buy = Call Buy + Put Sell
Fut sell = Put Buy + Call Sell

Know this very well as this is a must to know.

Directional markets:

There is no point in the market being directional and you adjusting a non-directional trade.

As a general rule, you should only adjust once or maximum twice and then give up on firefighting.

Then you should side with a directional move.

Mistake of a non-directional trader:

Non-directional traders face heavy losses in directional markets.

If you are able to limit your losses in such scenarios, your risk management will improve.

The "I can adjust any move" mindset has to vanish for this to improve.

Big Range:

Moves in a big range are usually violent, and this is where non-directional traders lose money despite the fact that they are correct in assuming that the market is range bound.

Level-based stops work best in such an environment with reduced quantities.

The Ultimate Guide for Traders who want to understand how they can use:

To drastically lower their taxes.

Have spoken to a lot of CA's and have got this information from them.

Follow these steps to pay lower taxes: ↓

Step 1:

The first thing traders do is loan their money to their family members to trade in their accounts so that they can make a profit in the family members' name.

This way the tax is divided by different names.

So you don't have to pay taxes on one name only.

How do they do this?

They use "Unsecured Loans".

It is completely legal to give a loan to your family.

Once they get the loan in their account, they can use that money to start trading.

30% tax is charged above 15 lakhs income.

Until 15 lakhs, you can trade in their names.


Assuming a family of 4 (most common) until 60 lakh profit you can do this.

This would be much better than making 60 lakh income on one name only.

Not only are you charged a lower tax rate by doing this, but you also make use of the no-tax slabs.
