After some coffee induced thought, I have to agree. What is causing the decline of our nation? I think it comes down to a several things: race relations, corruption in government, and the presumed wisdom/righteousness of rural America. We'll start with the last one first.

The word ’Tantra’ literally means ‘loom’ in Sanskrit. There are several differing explanations as to what this word means. According to one source, this name is supposed to be a pun, and in order to understand it, one has to first understand the word ‘sutra’.

The key texts of Hinduism are known as sutras, a word which also means ‘formula or thread’. Therefore, if a sutra is a single thread of thought, then Tantra would be the loom that produces these threads of thoughts into a whole system of thoughts.

As a comparison, another source suggests that Tantra is a combination of two words, ‘tattva’ and ‘mantra’, which mean the science of cosmic principles and the science of mystic sound and vibration respectively.

In other words, Tantra may be regarded to be “the application of cosmic sciences with a view to attain spiritual ascendancy.”

We’ve seen 7 litres be given in one shift.

Medics & surgeons, juniors & seniors, it seems everyone loves to reach for extra IV fluid (especially if urine output poor)

Why does huge volume IV fluid ‘resuscitation’ consistently occur?

Lots of reasons, including FALSE beliefs:
🛑 IV fluid always “treats AKI”
🛑 Hypotension = hypovolaemia
🛑 Lactate >2 means fluid deficiency
🛑 Septic patients are very hypovolaemic

The rule with IV fluids and AKI is to remember this 5 word phrase:

💥 💥 Aim for euvolaemia, then stop💥 💥

Fluid status is like Goldilocks - hypovolaemia is bad for the kidneys BUT excess volume is also harmful for renal function and will cause other complications too.

It is easy to say “target euvolaemia” - but we agree it is more difficult to do!

Fluid status assessment is certainly made harder by a belief that we must only rely on a snapshot assessment of examination features which are NOT specific / sensitive / reliable to elicit like.…

My mother was hospitalized from October through early December when we moved her into a LTC facility.

I can count on one hand the number of times I was able to visit her during that time. Hospital units were locked down to visitors for most of that period. /2

I was only able to take my father to see her in hospital once in that 2 months - they've been together 64 years. /3

Then, when she transferred to the LTC home, she was immediately quarantined for 14 days. I wasn't able to take my father to see her until Dec 23. /4

On Dec 24, the home went into COVID lockdown because of a staff member testing positive.

class constantly, they didn't even inform my parents for 2 years that i was struggling. i was put in a group at primary school for children who required extra support, so i received help for social skills, maths and english. If it wasn't already bad enough feeling different 3/

i was placed on the 'special table' with a teaching assistant for years and was still persistently taken out of class, by this point i was already feeling alone and completely singled out from my peers. i felt stupid and even when i tried my hardest it was never good enough 4/

this continued until i moved primary school when i was no longer made to sit at a 'special table' but was still taken out class constantly without being told why, at this age people started asking questions as to why i was taken out often too which being selectively mute 5/

I think one of the biggest problems is that we don’t talk enough about intrusive thoughts. People don’t understand them. They’re not purposefully being insensitive, they just genuinely don’t understand the nature of intrusive thoughts. Intrusive thoughts are INTRUSIVE.

That means you can’t control them. They’re NOT PLEASANT. No one wants to have these thoughts running through their heads at inconvenient times. No one is having disturbing intrusive thoughts because they’re in the mood to be disturbed.

Everyone has random, intrusive thoughts pop into their heads, For example, have you ever been driving on a highway and thought to yourself, “I could just yank the wheel right now?” Thats an intrusive thought. But for most people, it’s easy to brush off

People who experience intrusive thoughts as a mental illness symptom can’t just do that. They can’t just brush off the disturbing thoughts that pop into their heads. They get STUCK in them. And it’s incredibly distressing.
