THREAD Thoughts on Software I don’t post on individual names I own professionally unless they are > $100bn in market cap. This means I rarely post about individual software names so I thought I’d post about software as a whole.

While some investors love software because of the recurring nature of the revenues, stickiness of the contracts, and high gross margins, what I look for in a software company is the same thing I look for in every company: 1) growth trajectory and 2) eventual earnings power.

I am willing to pay 20+X revenue for a company that is currently unprofitable if I think the revenue base will eventually be many multiples of what it is today and operating margins somewhere in the 20-40% range Long Term.

Internet vs. Software Investors
I’ve been on the buyside for ~3yrs. Prior to that I was on the SS covering Internet. I did other things before this. It is my belief that in general, few software investor will ever know their names/space as well as an internet investor does.

The knowledge barrier to pick up a GRUB or Z just isn’t the same as Kubernetes or anything DevOps. Instead of building 1,000+ row rev tabs like I used to covering Internet (which I think are better for just learning the biz and true drivers rather than modeling precision),

Thread – The Inexorable Marxist Push in America

1. Americans thought the war with Communism was “over” after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Well, at least some did.

2. Others, on the other hand, buried deep into Academia, Hollywood, and other US cultural institutions and worked to subvert America from within – some even overtly so, working in the various Marxist political parties to stir up protests and later violence in the streets.

3. Always, the Marxists/Socialists perpetuate the myth that socialism will work “the next time” when the “right people” are in charge. It is a continuing pipedream of theirs.

3A. It will never work because it is contrary to human nature. Ask any former resident of a socialist country about that!

4. Though we may not be around to see it, in the end the Marxists (evil) running free and unchecked in the BLM and Antifa movements will consume themselves, and after that from their ashes, good will find its way back.

So fascinating, how certain folks suddenly care about "historical accuracy" in fiction when the Black people show up.

I've read novels set in historical periods that featured no women, children, or elderly; none of the reviews noted this. Watched shows set in big American cities -- MY city -- that turned it into young cishet Whitelandia. Not remotely accurate! Never a peep from Team Accuracy.

I've written novels featuring amorphous continent-wrecking gods, talking statues, ninja priests killing people under the watchful eye of a gas giant -- but it's so very telling that the biggest pushback I get is over my characters' race... or mine.

What these folks aaaaaktually want is inaccuracy, of a very specific type. The same inaccuracy they've been fed their whole lives: that white people are the be-all and end-all of every time period, ever. Other kinds of people might be spoken of, but never seen.

They read this in books, see it in films and TV shows, and then try to impose it on real life. We don't do official sundown towns anymore but there are still plenty of de facto ones, where local cops stalk Black residents and local economies prey on them, 'til they leave.

This Jan, at least one of Spurs' three important weaknesses should be resolved:

1: Lack of dynamism in Central Midfield barring Ndombele/Lo Celso (only one of them can play at a time.)

2: Aerial inferiority of the backline.

3: No consistent Goalscorers barring Kane x Son.

1: Midfield Control.

Since Spurs are a team that focuses more on clinical attacking transitions on the counter, there is no need for extremely technical midfielders.

To play the way Spurs do, it's enough for the midfielders to have decent technique but an outstanding workrate.

The issue comes with Sissoko not being able to distribute the ball during transitions.

His role is needed. Replacing him with Lo Celso specially when the backline isn't solid on its own is suicidal.

So a midfielder who can be that extra edge of support on both fronts is needed.

Solution at Central Midfield: Marcel Sabitzer

Alongside Konrad Laimer, Sabitzer formed a formidable pressing pivot.

Yes, you're all focusing on what he does from an attacking front, but defensively, his ability to relentlessly press throughout the game is what Spurs need a lot.

Your views on Sabitzer might be split. Some want him in simply because he contributes more than Lo Celso

In reality, the truth is, Sabitzer is needed because it gives another GOOD midfield option

Imagine when the choices would be Ndombele, Gio, Sabitzer, PEH, Skipp, maybe Winks
