As we wrap up the year, we want to highlight some great things that happened for us in 2020! See the thread below:

In January, we were featured in an article published by @StreetsblogMASS about the Central Section construction, which had just gotten underway.

Also in January, the City of Westfield advanced a project to construct a spur off of the Columbia Greenway, connecting Country Club Dr to the Shaker Rd crossing. https://t.co/FWn5357wwU
We saw the old railroad bridges over Thomas, Chapel, and Orange Streets removed in March, in preparation for new ones to be installed as part of the Central Section.

As the weather got warmer through the spring, there was a large increase in trail users, with April seeing a 115% increase from the previous year!

That growth was sustained throughout the rest of the year, with our electronic counters seeing a 2-3x increase in users!
During the summer, the Heroes are Everywhere mural come to life, painted along the underpass between Hedges Ave and Taylor Ave. Many thanks to ArtWorks Westfield for making this happen!

We hosted a series of "virtual" rides through the summer and early fall in conjunction with @NewHorizonsBik1, including the Great River Ride, which had over 100 participants!
We also hosted the annual Glow Walk at the end of October, which featured spooky stories written by local authors Susan and Kelly Buffam.
Another "virtual" event, the Walk was self-guided, with the stories posted to our website.

In October, we collaborated with @MassBike on the first #LightsBrigade event of the season in the Connecticut River Valley, where we handed out 16 sets of lights to riders in need!
Finally, also in October, new bridges for the Central Section were installed across Thomas, Chapel, and Orange Streets!
We have a lot to look forward to in 2021, including the completion of the Central Section, construction of the Western Ave/Court St multi-use trail, and planning of a northern route to Southampton and Easthampton. Thank you to all of our members and supporters; see you next year!

Once upon a time there was a Raja named Uttānapāda born of Svayambhuva Manu,1st man on earth. He had 2 beautiful wives - Suniti & Suruchi & two sons were born of them Dhruva & Uttama respectively.

Now Suniti was the daughter of a tribal chief while Suruchi was the daughter of a rich king. Hence Suruchi was always favored the most by Raja while Suniti was ignored. But while Suniti was gentle & kind hearted by nature Suruchi was venomous inside.

The story is of a time when ideally the eldest son of the king becomes the heir to the throne. Hence the sinhasan of the Raja belonged to Dhruva. This is why Suruchi who was the 2nd wife nourished poison in her heart for Dhruva as she knew her son will never get the throne.

One day when Dhruva was just 5 years old he went on to sit on his father's lap. Suruchi, the jealous queen, got enraged and shoved him away from Raja as she never wanted Raja to shower Dhruva with his fatherly affection.

Dhruva protested questioning his step mother "why can't i sit on my own father's lap?" A furious Suruchi berated him saying "only God can allow him that privilege. Go ask him"
