Sometimes our artistic nature allows us to intuit what is coming prior to the even showing up. It is sometimes the case that there is something inside us, something deep, that only comes out by way of expression and art.

It is not always symbolic.

So the bulbasaurs are not symbolic of some ideas, they are something I felt the need to express, so I did. As odd as it sounds, like a sad person plays a song, or a happy person does a dance, I am contemplating the current social and political milieu so I tweeted bulbasaurs.

I have been tweeting less threads, with less regularity, because there has been a shift in the social and political milieu and I am still attempting to apprehend it. I have not nailed it down exactly, as the shift is subtle, but it is there and has been since the start of October

I don't mean to be cryptic, but there has been a change and I do not fully understand it yet. Woke ideology (AKA critical social justice) has not changed, it is still postmodern and it still uses critical theory, but something else has changed. There is a shift in the air...

(Excuse the typo above!) Tom Barry, beyond the legend, was quite a contradictory character. He was the son of a policeman, who joined the British Army in WWI (when he served in the Royal Artillery in Mesopotamia (Iraq) against the Ottoman Turks.

It was pointed out by @swgannon here yesterday that when he returned to Ireland in 1919, he attempted to join the Imperial Civil Service, but failed the exam. He also attended the first Armistice Day commemorations in Cork in which the Union flag was raised.

But at some point he had a change of heart and approached the local IRA (Cork 3 Batt) to join them. Naturally they, led by Tom Hales at the time, were suspicious of him. But they allowed him in for his military training in order to train their men.

However Hales was arrested and Barry got on better with his replacement Charlie Hurley. Barry was involved in the Toureen ambush in October 1920 but not in command. Kilmichael was his first large action as column leader.

Let me use today to remember a great man & military officer per excellence, one who may still be alive but already forgotten by the country he serves or served with blood & sweat.

1. On 11 September 2014, a NAF Alpha jet with tail number 466 crashed in Kauri.

2. Conducting an air interdiction were two fighter pilots on board the jet - Wing Commander Chimda Hedima and Group Captain Abdulrasheed Braimoh.

3. Boko Haram later released a video of an injured Wing Commander C Hedima on his knees. Before the officer was beheaded, he mentioned that he had not seen his co-pilot Group Captain Braimoh. In the gory clip, Hedima was killed.

4. Refusing to mention whether there was a search mission for the pilots, the military denied the Boko Haram video and even claimed Hedima was not the man in the clip. Spokesman, Air Commodore Alonge said clearly, 'The man in the video is not our pilot'.

5. It was a painful story to follow, for a killing that was glaring to be denied. The military would later accept that the officer was indeed killed by Boko Haram and even invite his wife for an AFN Remembrance Day. But it has remained silent on Group Captain Braimoh.

Debunking Fake Narratives on Manusmriti on Women; Here Are Facts.

1.Found many antiDharma forces and confused persons using abusive language against Manusmriti.They were depicting Manu Maharishi one who gave birth to caste system and that he was biased against women nd womenhood.I found dis propaganda more sort of political rather than social.

Swami Dayanand, the great Vedic scholar of the 19th Century, writes:
“I believe in that part of Manusmriti which is not interpolated (appended later) and is in accord with the Vedas.”

3.He concludes that the Manusmriti we read today is not as originally laid down by Swayambhu Manu, the first Chief of Humanity. As it now is, he found the text as self contradictory and against the values espoused in the Vedas, and hence injudicious.

4.He therefore rejects those prejudicial texts which advocate discrimination against populations with alleged inferior status. Commentaries, interpolations, and additions have demeaned the essence of the Manusmriti. This is the same with other Hindu sacred texts.

1. Well this seems like the perfect day for a thread about old baseball stadiums in Toronto.

It's a history that stretches all the way back to the 1800s and a place called the Toronto Baseball Grounds…

2. It might not look like it, but this is the very oldest image we have of a baseball stadium in Toronto — the only surviving visual representation of the city's first ballpark.

You have to zoom way, way in to see it…

3. …but here it is, standing on Queen Street on a spot overlooking the Don Valley.

It was originally known as the Toronto Baseball Grounds, but would soon be nicknamed Sunlight Park — in honour of the nearby Sunlight Soap Works factory.

4. Spectators could walk in off Queen St or ride up & park their carriage on the grounds. Admission was a quarter — plus an extra dime for the best seats in the house.

The sheltered grandstand could seat 2,000 people & there was standing room for another 10,000 beyond that.

5. A sellout at Sunlight Park meant that 10% of the city's entire population was at the ballgame that day.

When the stadium opened in 1886, even the Lieutenant Governor came out for the event. Someone in his entourage had their hat knocked off by a foul ball.

I was reading the report which Lord Lugard submitted to the British Parliament in 1917.

the basic character of Nigerians from various parts of the country (SW, SE/SS, NC, NE & NW) still holds true over a century later.

In other words, after a century of British assessment of our character, we haven't changed

2. The myth of a "rich" South and a "poor" North arose

from the stated reasons why Lugard decided to amalgamate the "countries" of Northern and Southern Nigeria.

The bureaucratic system was buoyant in the South due to its ability to generate excise duty from alcohol importation

Unfortunately, (alcohol being prohibited)

such taxes were unavailable in the Northern protectorate

Therefore, at the time of amalgamation, the colonial govt in the North was supported by an annual grant from the Crown, while the South was buoyant due to its income from alcohol taxes

However by 1917 when the report was

written, the coffers of the amalgamated Nigeria had been swollen exceedingly by receipts from the sale of Tin from Jos!

The "tables" had turned!

In other words, the ability of the colonial govt to rapidly achieve buoyancy in the South, was due to proximity to British monitored
