I trained in the early 2000s. When SA didn't have ARVs for patients dying with HIV/Aids. In 2003 as a med student we marched so that South Africans could have access to ARVS. Millions of South Africans died due to the slow rollout of ARVS in the early 2000s 2/

As an intern, as ARVs were just being initiated, countless patients died - too sick to be started on ART, it was too late. As an intern at Bara, I remember certifying 8 patients dead in a night. Some patients were my own age - 24. 3/

ARVs made a huge difference. Life expectancy increased. Child-headed households decreased. More patients living a normal life. The #Covid19SA pandemic has reminded me so much of that pre-ARV era - the helplessness, being overwhelmed with patients and lacking resources 4/

The 'acceding countries, candidate countries and potential candidates' has a specific scope, and does include Kosovo (not yet recognised by all Member States). Turkey in particular has been very active in Erasmus. /4

TL;DR: $BTC is caught between a tug of war of market manipulation by #tether, pushing price on low volume on one hand and undeniable fundamental asset price inflation driven by the Fed’s printing on the other.

1/ $BTC is up 22% in 5 days on ever falling, low volume in holiday trading. During this time it has defied every sensible signal. Leveraged funding is unsustainably high, futures are as far in contango as I can remember.

2/ #tether has printed $400m during the holidays, implying that either huge (and I mean HUGE) institutional investors have wired real Dollars over the period when they aren’t in the office or, as we all know it to be true: they are printing freely out of thin air.

3/ With these $USDT and the help of all the connected #tether exchanges price has been painted upwards without resistance. The manipulation, to any experienced market participant, is so obvious it hurts.

4/ However, it is absolutely true that #bitcoin, along with every other asset in the world is acting as a vacuum for the central bank liquidity unleashed on markets. It is just as ridiculous to deny this perfectly legitimate effect as to say #tether is not manipulating prices

There have absolutely been armour in which leather was used as material, but the RPG leather armour is mostly fictitious.

Leather armour is not flexible and supple. That's just leather clothing and protects about as well as an overcoat.

Leather that has been treated (boiled or baked, we don't really know the exact process) is hard and resembles ceramic plates or hard plastic more than the flexible leather we use in clothing.

But hard plate sounds good for an armour, right?

Well, yes and no.

Hardness is definitely a merit, but leather as a material poses some serious limitations.

1) You can't really repair leather armour

Cloth can be sown, metal can be welded and reforged, but apart from some very dubious glueing, there isn't much you can do for leather.

You'd have to replace entire sections of the armour in their entirety, so field repairs are out of the question. Not a great feature for any professional soldier at least.

This doesn't preclude ceremonial use, but that takes it out of the realm of real armour altogether.

Allowing access only to white listed IP addresses is easy.

The vast majority access the internet via their Internet Service Provider, and ISP's can easily block client access to any IP address they choose.

China has been doing this for years.

This is how firewalls work, and is much lower level than DNS blocking.

I would imagine this will be rolled out to 'Combat the ever growing threat of Cyber Attacks'.
