SPAC IS THE NEW BLACK: SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies) are all the rage these days. In this thread, I want to say a few things about SPACs that I learned in my research of the market. 1/15
What was once an esoteric (and somewhat tawdry) financing vehicle has now come into the main in terms of quantity ($83 billion in IPOs in 2020) and quality (A-player names pursuing SPACs from name brand PE and VC funds to leading investors and advisors and even celebrities.) 2/15
Early and serial SPAC sponsors like Harry Sloan and Jeff Sagansky (Flying Eagle), Michael Klein (Churchill) and Chamath Palihapitiya (Hedosophia) have helped propel the SPAC phenomenon to new heights, not to mention tech gurus, former politicians and even famous athletes. 3/15
LUMA has created a SPAC LUMAscape that maps over 250 SPACs by stage across 8 verticals. This is the evergreen post that we will endeavor to keep updated (and welcome your feedback): https://t.co/aboAAemu53 4/15
A SPAC is a blank check company where investors back a sponsor group to find a suitable target to merge with (the de-SPACing) which is often accompanied by a PIPE (private investment into public equity) to further finance the target company. 5/15

I've been wanting to do a thread on this and you gave me an excuse. Buckle in, boys!
You guys know I'm part of Collapse Gang and 2020 has certainly been a year of the kind of vindication I really didn't want to see this early.
I've been expecting something along the lines of the "Descending staircase" of the Tainter Model and 2020 seems like one of those periods where the step down is happening.
Eventually, things will hit a point where they'll stabilise and a sort of normalcy will return.
Only there'll be a bunch of stuff that just can't be done any more and we all just have to get used to that.
We're already seeing ham-handed attempts to set public expectations.
The "Great Reset" isn't so much a conspiracy theory as a pisspoor exercise in expectations management to get people to accept "Yeah we lost the capability to do these things you grew up with and we're NEVER getting it back, at least not this side of a new dark age"
So, are we all ready for "2020: The Sequel"?

This is THEFT!
Indians had Algebra BEFORE Mμslim prophet & religion was even born.
Here is Bakhshali Manuscript dating back to 3rd century CE. It is an Algebraic treatise. Have you anything like this from the Arabian desert? No, you simply plagiarized Algebra from Indians! https://t.co/cWXRNYMgDt
The Bakhshali manuscript, which has been carbon dated to 3rd century CE, is an ancient Hindu treatise on Arithmetic and Algebra.
The Algebraic problems deal with simultaneous equations, quadratic equations, arithmetic
geometric progressions & quadratic indeterminate equations.
Bakhshali isn't earliest Indian Algebraic treatise. Early Algebra is found in Shulba Sutras dating back to at least 800 BC. Traditional Algebra reached its pinnacle in the works of Aryabhata & Bhaskara.
What makes Bakhshali special is it offers mathematical proof to its theories
It is surprising to see that even after the ancient Indian algebraic treatise has been carbon dated to 3rd century CE by Oxford, they persist with "oh we invented Algebra. It is Halal".
A brief examination of the origins of "Halal Algebra" follows
https://t.co/eFIZ98FDrI
The earliest work of "Arabic Algebra" is the "Al-Kitāb Al-Jabr wal-muqābala" by Al Khwarizmi. The term "Algebra" comes from this book ("Al Jabr").
Before writing his treatise, Al Khwarizmi visited India. His book is a plagiarism from Indian Mathematics and an obvious one at that

Muslims gave the world Algebra, so here's a "halal" way to say Merry Christmas to our Christian friends :)#MerryChristmas2020 pic.twitter.com/aLXEw2K2I1
