Early in my career I was lucky enough to work in roles I loved and under nurturing managers who were my mentors. (Contd)
This has taken efforts, and these notes aren't preaching, but somethings I practise sincerely, because of what I said in the opening tweet: this is a topic that is very close to my heart!

2/n
I worked hard and long. But I always returned home not contended with that day’s work and hungry for more. That satisfaction at work made my home life enjoyable. I found time to play badminton and volleyball. Work and life were perfectly balanced.
3/n
I couldn’t wait to go to work. Great team and good manager.
But as I got married and responsibilities increased demands on my time grew, especially as just married man helping my wife acclimatize with US.
I sought work - life balance because ..everyone seeks, right?
4/n
As luck would have it 9/11 happens, economy goes for a tail spin, and my company files for bankruptcy. So time to buckle up.
This is when I realized work life balance isn’t what I sought. I wanted a satisfying work that did not require me to compromise key personal goals
5/n
Working hard to keep up the morale in a company in bankruptcy isn’t easy. But that gave my career a mission.
When you are passionate about your work and committed to it, and have a good manager you can find ways to be effective without compromising your personal life

I'll post the rates tomorrow with the racial breakdown. For now, let's go with the raw totals.
What do we have from today? Well, Democrats probably added about 8K votes to their margin, per @joe__gantt's estimates. That's not as much as they'd have been hoping for, to be blunt.
But let's also remember that the second weekend in the general election was a pro-GOP day. So this is certainly not the worst-case scenario everyone worried about. All of that helps the Democrats. They'd have liked more, but...it's Boxing Day.
In the general election, for example, our estimate was that Biden won the first two days of early voting, three of the four weekend days, and Trump won basically every other day of early voting pic.twitter.com/9JID24eq3I

Tomorrow, it appears as if DeKalb, Columbia, Fulton, and Gwinnett are open. This will likely result in another pro-Democratic day, but almost certainly with more votes cast. How much? I got no idea, but probably around 30K-40K. So Democrats will look to add about 10K to the lead.
We'll enter the last 4 days of early voting with approximately a (roughly) 190K vote lead for Democrats, in all likelihood. That'll leave the GOP with some ground to make up.
Both stories reveal how much of a humble human being he is. And one blows my mind because it dismantles what we think about the evolution of sports.
A thread:
Where is the thread? Love when you give us your take on these players. The KC Jones piece was outstanding. Had no idea.

The first is, that there is an assumption that today’s athletes are faster, stronger, etc. which is is based on ZERO evidence.
For instance, Wilt Chamberlain benched 465 lbs at 59 years old. Arnold Schwarzenegger says he benched 500 lbs on the set of Conan the Destroyer
Most basketball experts say Wilt has the highest vertical leap in NBA history. A few others argue that Michael Jordan did.
I think they’re both wrong.
Why?
Well let me tell you a story:
In 1956 Bill Russell was selected for the US Olympic basketball team
During this time, pros weren’t allowed in the Olympics, so the International Olympic Committee tried to say that he was ineligible since he had already signed with the Celtics, even though he hadn’t played yet
Luckily, Russell prevailed and led the team to the gold medal as the captain.
But if they would have stopped Russell from playing for the US basketball team, he would have STILL been in the Olympics.
How?
Because Bill Russell was one of the greatest high jumpers I. The world.
Emerging ideas to follow.
I am determined to find an expression of zettelkasten that makes sense to me.

An idea management system that "just works".
One that allows me to sink into a state of ordered *flow*. pic.twitter.com/AWftjMIH33
My goal is to MINIMIZE RESISTANCE to MAXIMIZE FLOW.
I want to capture ALL resonant ideas, and to move things up the maturity progression as quickly as my clarity allows.
Common inputs for "literature" notes/questions:
Podcasts: @AirrAudio
Articles: @worldbrain
Twitter: @readwiseio
Books: @AmazonKindle
All sent to @RoamResearch in a standardized template using the @readwiseio integration *chef's kiss*
I make the literature (summary) notes AS I'M READING/LISTENING.
These appear as a note nested under the highlight in Roam.
Then, to make it a bit nicer, I flip it.
Rather than the literature note nested under the highlight, I nest the highlight under the literature note (as a block ref)
In 2004, election truthers trotted out supposed statistical anomolies to try and "prove" Kerry won Ohio. It was bunk. Now some GOP folks are making similar arguments to claim Trump won the election. This is bunk too.

2/ US State Dept commentary re the 2004 election in Ukraine and the discrepancy between the exit polls (which suggested a pro-West Yuschenko victory) and official results (which suggested a pro-Russia Yanukovych victory).
3/ The 2004 election in Ukraine was re-done and produced the opposite result, consistent with the exit polls.
4/ Exit polls in the US around the same time as Ukraine’s 2004 election suggested a solid Kerry victory. Voters had every reason to question why the Bush administration considered exit polls reliable in Ukraine but not in the US at the same time. https://t.co/SwUPeRnGtf
