Apere, was arraigned alongside Rollins Allison Amacree, Clever Loveday and a company: Oriazy Global Link Limited before Justice Jane E. Inyang of the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State...
...on 10-count charges bordering on alleged conspiracy and procurement fraud to the tune of N864,104,000. 00(Eight Hundred and Sixty Four Million, One Hundred and Four Thousand Naira only).
Count 2 of the charges read: "That you, Embelekpo Apere and Rollins Allision Amacree, on or about 2015 and 2016 in Bayelsa State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court,...
...did without soliciting for expression of interest by publishing a notice to that effect in Two National Newspapers and in your Journal, awarded and paid contract worth N352,104,000.00 (Three Hundred and Fifty-two Million, One Hundred and Four Thousand Naira only)...
...to Dekams World Global Nigeria Ltd and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 44 (a) and 45 (2) of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and punishable under Section 58(1) of the same Act".
Count 3 read:"That you Embelekpo Apere and Rollins Allision Amacree, on or about 2015 and 2016 in Bayelsa State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did without soliciting for expression of interest by publishing a notice to that effect in Two National Newspapers...
...and in your Journal awarded and paid contract worth N182,000,000.00 (One Hundred and Eighty Two Million Naira) only to Ayebomateke & Son's Ltd...
...and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 44 (a) and 45 (2) of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and punishable under Section 58(1) of the same Act".
They all pleaded "not guilty" to the charges when they were read to them. In view of their pleas, prosecution counsel, M.T Iko asked for a date for the commencement of trial.
However, counsels to the 1st and 2nd defendants, Oyebiyi O. and P. J. Fawei and counsel to the 3rd and 4th defendants, W. Ogberipou informed the judge of bail applications already placed before the court.
This prayer was contested by Iko who expressed fears that the defendants may interfere with the prosecution of the case “by threatening witnesses and the prosecution". He prayed the court to for an order for accelerated hearing of the matter.
Justice Inyang, however, granted the defendants bail in the sum of Twenty Million Naira (N20, 000,000.00) each and one surety in like sum, who must be residents within the jurisdiction of the court.
All the sureties should depose to an affidavit of means and deposit their original Certificates of Occupancy with the Deputy Court Registrar.
The Judge also ordered that international passports of defendants be handed over to the Registrar of the Court while sureties should be verified by the Investigating Officers.

The matter was adjourned till February 17, 22 and 24, 2021 for hearing.
The defendants got into trouble by awarding contracts without following due processes. They allegedly made payments to third parties exceeding N50million without passing through a financial institution, in violating of provisions of the Money Laundering Act.

Amusan, who was first arraigned alongside his company in November 2019, is standing trial for allegedly defrauding Nkasi Onyung, Managing Director, Energy Limited.

During today’s proceedings, the witness narrated how Onyung had approached the Commission after she was defrauded by Amusan.

The petitioner alleged that her company had issued the sum of N260 million to Amusan's company for the purchase of 3, 250litres of diesel (AGO), which was never delivered.

“The prosecution have closed their case today, it is for the defendant to open his defence, though the court ordered the case to be heard in his absence, but he is here, he is entitled to be heard.

The defendant has elected to argue or present a no case submission. It is the defendant’s decision and a choice made by him.

Man Jailed Ten Years over Farming Scam in Kaduna


Justice Darius Khobo of State High Court sitting in Kaduna on January 22, convicted and sentenced one Kamilu Tukur Ruma to Ten years imprisonment for obtaining N742,000 (Seven Hundred and Forty-two Thousand Naira) from one Zainab Garba as investment in a phony farming business.

After paying the said sum, Garba discovered that the farm land situated at Rigachukun Kaduna which the convict showed her, belonged to someone else.

The charge reads, “that you Kamilu Tukur Ruma sometime in April, 2018 in Kaduna within the Kaduna Judicial Division of the High Court being entrusted with the sum of N742,000,00 (seven hundred and forty two thousand Naira) by Zainab Garba...

...for the purpose that the money will be invested in farming business located at Rigachukun, Kaduna dishonestly converted the said money to your own use in violation of legal contract which you made in regard to the sum...

EFCC Arrests Two Brothers, Six Other Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Osogbo
…4 Internet Fraudsters Convicted In Lagos


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office, on Thursday, January 28, 2021, arrested eight men suspected to be internet fraudsters in Osogbo, Osun State.

The suspects Akinrinmade Adepoju Sunday and his brother Akinrinmade Adeniyi were arrested in their room and parlor apartment, others are Dennis Oluwamuyiwa, Oni Oluwaseyi, Adeyemo Adeyinka, Aborisade Abayomi, Goodluck Olatayo, and Gbolahan Sodiq.

They were arrested at their hideout in Ayegbami area of the ancient town by operatives, working on actionable intelligence on their alleged criminal activities.

Items recovered from the suspects include two cars, laptops and mobile phones.

They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

In a related development, the Lagos Zonal office of the Commission has secured the conviction of four internet fraudsters.

N24bn Police Pension Fraud: Court Fixes Jan 19, 2020 for Ruling on Admissibility of Evidence


The trial of Atiku Abubakar Kigo for police pension fraud, before Justice Hussien Baba of the FCT High Court, Maitama, Abuja, continued on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 with the testimony of the fourth prosecution witness (PW4), Mustapha Sani Gadanya.

Kigo, a former director in the Police Pension Office, is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alongside five others on amended eight-count charges, bordering on money laundering and criminal breach of trust to the tune of N24 billion.

At today’s sitting, Gadanya, who is a staff of Eco Bank in his testimony against the third defendant, Veronica Ulonma Onyegbula, presented bank account opening documents, account statements and Certificate of Identification on the documents from Eco bank,...

Five criteria must be met for a hadith to be classed as authentic.
1. Morally upright narrators
2. Precision in transmission
3. Connected chain
4. Free from inconsistencies with other reports
5. Solitary reports must be free from reasons for suspicion

The first three of these deal with internal defects. The remaining two deal with external (or ‘hidden’) defects. The objective of these criteria is to ensure there be no chance of forgeries and to mitigate against the likelihood of errors in reports.

1) All narrators must be morally upright and known for their honesty. This is to eliminate all chances of deliberate lies in the name of the Prophet ﷺ. A morally upright Muslim would never lie about Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.

2) Precision in transmission is likewise necessary to mitigate against unintended mistakes. An upright narrator with weak memory, for instance, might not consciously lie but is nonetheless prone to erring when conveying a report.

To make their statement, German farmers even brought their tractors to the historic Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Sound even more familiar?

Nobody tried to seize symbols of German state power and plant alternative flags. Also, nobody used swords against police personnel nor tried to chase them into a ditch. Such losers I tell you, those Germans. They don’t understand how “peaceful protest” is really done.

But I cannot help wonder. As Rihanna would say, why aren’t people talking about this? What happened to humanitarian liberal media all around the world and their supposed reverence for farmers? Don’t the “annadatas” of Germany deserve some love?

Anywhoo, I know Mahershela is fantastic in it. He was the best thing about the trailer. As rich as the history behind the creation of ‘The Green Book’ is/was, as amazing as Dr. Don Shirley’s story is, WHY is this film about a random, racist driver and his family?

This feeds into the ignorant anti-Black American stereotype of “Black Americans don’t have any culture/history/mythology” or whatever. That our stories are still both being used while simultaneously erased in 2018 is wild to me. It’s gonna clean up come award season. 🤦🏾‍♀️

These three names of cow signify that this is an animal which should not to be put to tortures. These words appear frequently throughout the Veda in context of the cow.

But in due course the falsehood of killing cows spread far and wide and they became even more deep rooted when western scholars with their half baked knowledge of Sanskrit transliterated these interpretations of commentaries of Sayanacharya ,
