There Was A War On Earth: Truth vs Lies

Who loves the Book of Revelation? I do. In my youth I opted to study two books of the Bible especially. Daniel and Revelation. After a long break in early adulthood, I found my way back with joy.

 2) It's so tempting to follow the path of Revelation 12, where the story of the War in Heaven is told...revealed. Another tempting path pops up. In Genesis, which is now likely my favorite Book of the Bible, we learn of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
3) Consider this little playful numbered analysis:

1) Truth
2) Falsehood (i.e. lies and the lying liars who tell them)
3) Good
4) Evil

Something simple arises. Truth is good. Lies are evil.

How about that?
4) Moving perhaps too quickly, I bounce over to my beloved Master Sun Tzu. Well, him and me, we're a team. He assumes but I explain, it is a moral mandate to lie to your enemies. Allow me...

5) Ethics is an ancient thing. Making a claim like the one I did above is no small thing, I assure you. I believe I am offering an innovation in the field of ethics. Lying to your friends is bad. Lying to your enemies is good. It's more than just good. It is required.
6) Be patient with me, we have to stick this through. Lying to your enemies is NOT a necessary evil. It is a necessary good. Telling the truth to your enemies has a name. Treason. And it is the worst crime there is. It demands execution. If convicted, you must be shot at dawn.
7) Why dawn. Why shoot traitors at dawn? There is a reason. Because we must not allow the sun to rise on another day (after this one) with this traitor still alive. It is a harsh logic. Days count. Treason counts. Truth given to enemies is evil. Please contemplate that.
8) The logic inverts. Lies told to friends are evil. No, not all of them! Does this outfit make me look good, honey? Yes, dear. It does not matter if it is true or false. Your beloved's feelings are more important than the absolute truth of the outfit's values.
9) A lie of love is a good thing. Try to avoid them, when possible. But, push and shove, lie all day long to ensure your love's joy in life. And never confess. Her joy is the real truth anyway. The joy she sparks in your soul, moment by moment is the real truth anyway.
10) Where is the real evil? It is the lie that you are a friend when in fact you are an enemy. The ethics invert again. A spy MUST, by definition of his function, execute this precise lie or FAIL in his mission. Spies are liars. They employ trust, falsely.
11) Funny thing. My spy is good. Your spy is evil. Go figure. In some strange way, I say all spies are good. I love spies. I even know a few, believe it or not. I've got one in mind in particular who lied to me, and well, I still love him anyway.
12) A funny thing happened on the way to the grocery store last night. I got a text message from a beloved and well trusted friend. I responded, and posted a tweet that did amazing things. Here's the tweet:

13) There is a truth and a lie here. The lie in the tweet - of which I was unaware - is that this is NEW information. It is not. We'll talk about that more. The truth is, the information is VALUABLE. Contemplate that.
14) Old as the information is - and it is! - it was new to me. Notice the focus. Is it new? No. New to me? Yes. Is is true or false? That is a very serious question. That's a question at Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil level. Forget new. Focus on true. Or false.
15) We return to ancient things now. There is a single term that, if I could, I would enforce in all education for every student no later than age 13. Epistemology. It is a Greek word. Episteme = Knowledge. Ology = Study. It is the Queen of Philosophy. Imagine that.
16) Who among us has studied science, seriously? That is from an historical and yes, philosophical perspective. If you have, few though you may be, you will understand when I say that Physics is the Queen of Science. Every other science wishes it was Physics.
17) Why might that be? Because when Physics says something is true, all other sciences bow. Force = Mass X Acceleration. No one will argue. Energy = Mass X the Speed of Light Squared. No one will argue.
18) Did Hillary Clinton have Seth Rich assassinated?

Someone will argue.

Not me, mind you. I don't have the slightest question. But many do.
19) The more I think about it, the more profound last night's little tweet grows. I happily put it forward in my own name. I didn't take the time to think about the following fact. In my name means MY validation. Now that was a failure. A very real and important failure.

Correcting A Monstrous Crime Against Our Country

My friend and legal mentor @shestokas provided this article and spent a bit of time with me speaking about

3) What's more, we're going to be build our Constitution reading skills while we're at it. As I started studying, I realized that I have never grown comfortable with the Constitution's format, in reading it. I get it, but I've not spent much time doing it.

5) Our story begins with Article IV, Section 4., with a clear statement of powers, responsibilities, and hierarchy of holding elections. If we're going to address this monstrous crime, we need to know exactly what the crime is, and who committed it. PH points us straight there.

How Reading Helped My Career

 In 2013, a joint venture Israeli/South African company was looking to make a foray into Nigeria. They wanted to set up an outlet in Lagos after conducting their feasibility studies and they needed a Nigerian financial institution to partner with.

Somehow, i was given their contacts and we agreed to meet with our teams from both sides at Victoria Island. 

I got my team together- about 8 of them- people in e-business, IT and other units that I know will have one thing or the other to do with this company.

I wanted to conclude in just one meeting. As the South African MD and his Israeli partner walked into my office where we were all seated and I stood up to exchange pleasantries with both of them, his eye went to the book on my table. 'Oh, you're reading Tipping Point?', he asked.

I was reading Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell that week and I had the book on my desk in the office. I usually have the books I'm reading either in my car or on my desk. I replied in the affirmative.

He asked for other books of Malcolm Gladwell that I've read and I mentioned Outliers-The Story of Success and What The Dog Saw. He asked for my best among the books and I mentioned Outliers. His best was Tipping Point.

Dear LAGOP:
Your tone deaf condemnation and censure of Senator Cassidy is misguided and alienating.
As it turns out, remarking that he is without a party places him in a privileged arena if our state’s Republicans are choosing to categorically deny the Senator his

elected responsibility to listen to evidence at a trial and cast a vote appropriate to his conscience.
Senator Cassidy has the ability to muster the courage it takes to be truly honorable, and extend the thought and reasoning it takes to make tough choices regardless of

subversive pressure being applied.
Unlike yourselves, Senator Cassidy has the capacity to read a room. The room he had to read most likely felt cold and lonely. The room he had to read most likely felt suffocating, and fraught with dubious outcomes for himself personally.

But he persisted with honor, and he persisted with valor. He deserves respect for that.
Perhaps reading that room is something for which you should take a look at doing a bit more closely. The Republican Party will no doubt see some changes in the next years.

Try to imagine yourself as an older Republican. (Obviously you are white and you have a penis.) You have long believed R's to be the responsible ones, the moral ones, the ones who will do the right thing even when it's hard.

You remember your heroes: Eisenhower and Reagan, the Bush's? Right? You knew that they would "take care of us" while all the crazy tree huggers and hippies wanted to buy the world a Coke and and give all your money to poor people and immigrants!

...and how was THAT gonna teach them to pull themselves up by the boot straps and make something of themselves like YOU DID??
After all, this is the land of opportunity, RIGHT? Everyone has the same chance to be successful and PROSPEROUS, right???

1) Core attributes of a promising founder worth following:
- Progress/trajectory over time
- How well they lead a team &
- Make the vision happen
- Most impressed when someone is way ahead of where you thought they would be when you check up/see them a few months later.

2) Indie Makers have such a benefit of being small, fast, nimble workers in comparison to big companies.

We can easily pivot and vastly change a project of ours. We can change as we learn more about our users.

Big companies can take months/years for even the smallest of pivots.

3) Before you find a product market you can pivot your project as many times as necessary until you find something that works.

Then you only have one thing to do: scale, scale, scale.

4) Be obsessed with the little details.
- listen to every single person who uses your product
- reply to every single person who emails you about your product
- ask them what they like and do not like
- iterate your product, make changes, pivot if necessary

one of the things i like about Batman is that it's fundamentally about being orphaned, and being an orphan — how this guy stays tethered to the world in his own weird, abstract, extrajudicial way when he feels that his link to it has been violently severed

Batman does this by permanently recapitulating his own trauma: solving crimes for other people, protecting them. But that's actually just the beginning; he also recapitulates his own experience of orphanness by essentially raising several orphans

Dick is an orphan in the traditional sense: dead parents. Batman sees it happen. Jason, less so: missing dad, known mom who eventually dies. Tim, even less so: parents are around a while, and involved, before both dying. Carrie, even less than that: negligent parents.

Steph: evil father, who openly works against her. And then there's Damian, whose parents are both alive and yet both have identities that totally obliterate their role as his parents. He doesn't relate to them as a mother and father; he can't, and neither can they.

In all these different cases, Batman tries all these different ways of making orphanness for them not what it was for him: Either by trying to teach them the (arguably poor) coping skills early that he learned over a very long time, or by literally legally adopting them, etc.
