Fish was never a deal breaker. Level playing field was

But LPF now more likely to come together after @EU_Commission move (on trade test for unlocking remedial measures & scope of arbitration over remedial measures)
If it does, expect deal on \U0001f420\U0001f421 too
It is the same "I move in principle you move in detail" shift we saw with the Northern Ireland protocol last year, when no PM could accept a border between GB and NI suddenly did, just as recently no PM would accept tariffs for divergence and seems to have done.
So, are we at deal yet? No, and it remains far from certain, but better than the gloom of Saturday. I still think the PM wants his ideal where everyone is happy, still hopes if only he can speak to Macron and Merkel he could get it, still to decide.
Second, I still maintain that Johnson has not made a decision here. Some days he leans towards Deal, sometimes towards No Deal
— Jon Worth (@jonworth) December 14, 2020
He has been stuck for weeks, and still is. He\u2019d ideally just not decide *anything*
And even if there is a deal it is now too late for either business to adjust to it, or the EU to ratify it according to normal procedure. In both cases you'd think we'd need an extension, but there is a big shrug on this whole question. Nobody knows.
And so, yet again on Brexit, we wait. In particular, those who actually do the trade, the businesses we rely on, are forced to wait for a formal outcome while preparing as best they can. Let's see what happens.

Over at Mischiefs of Faction, @Smotus makes a similar point: https://t.co/al6fS5tZXP

I want to be clear here: I’m saying that the Affordable Care act was, from a political perspective, badly designed, and that *a different health care plan* might’ve led to a better Dem performance in 2010. But these arguments don't grapple with that.
To @Smotus’s point, Pelosi released those House Democrats at the end, not the beginning. Having covered the beginning of this, I can tell you a lot of those Democrats thought a bipartisan health care bill would be great politics for them!
But they didn’t get that.
This is key. The ACA was built on the political theory that:
1. Bipartisan policy is easier to pass — and more popular once passed.
2. Working off of the Heritage Foundation/Romney template could get you a bipartisan health bill.
1 was probably right. 2 was utterly wrong.
Polls! Polls are an awesome way to start. I like using text and upvoting ones. Here are examples of the same question 2 ways. First upvote. Love this format b/c participants can see each other’s responses on their devices & choose ones that resonate for them. #prezoom

Here’s the same #prezoom question in a different poll format. Students don’t see other’s responses until they appear on the screen. I like to chat about what I see and invite others to do so too. Key: the question & instructions on how to engage are visible at entry.

There’s so much you can do to build community in the moments before class and meetings #prezoom. Here’s another example: On a scale of cat, how are you feeling today?

Here’s a Where’s Waldo like task #prezoom that I shared recently. Note: instructions should be visible on the screen as they enter so no one is left to figure out what people are doing and how to engage.
What are your pre #zoom activities? I tried this one today and enjoyed it.

C – Curate
O – Organize
D – Distill
E – Express
I\u2019m thinking of changing the C in CODE to Curate instead of Capture
— Tiago Forte (@fortelabs) January 18, 2021
Capture focuses on the mechanical action, which is trivial now
Curate focuses on the Curation Mindset of intentionally choosing what to consume, which is harder than ever
2/ The word "Capture" comes from the first step of GTD, which described it as "the Capture Habit"
This was a novel idea at the time, that you could pluck bits of information out of your mind and the external world and save it in a place you trust and control
3/ When it comes to open loops (unfinished tasks), it's very important to capture them:
1) from your internal mind (where they cause stress)
2) immediately (before you forget them)
3) thoroughly (because even a single one slipping through the cracks can be catastrophic)
4/ But none of these apply to capturing non-actionable information. Most of it 1) comes from the outside world, 2) will come around again if it's any good, and 3) you have to be VERY selective about what you keep to avoid getting drowned in it
5/ And most clearly of all, you don't want the act of capturing content to be habitual and automatic. Habits are best for actions that require no active thought, and may actually suffer if you think about them too much

So the Premier's press secretary wouldn't acknowledge "texts, emails or phone messages" from the media for several days. This is her job. She's a press secretary. Is she just not doing her job, or is she also on a tropical vacation? \U0001f914#AbLeg #abpoli #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/q0evfu9tPU

Seems conservatives have an overdeveloped sense of entitlement.
How does it feel to the average Albertan to be considered second class? Apparently UCP, CPC and other conservatives across Canada are exempt from COVID public health orders.
I wonder if that means anti maskers are first class citizens? What about church pastors and parishioners? Are they first class status too?
But teachers, physicians, police, first responders, grocery workers, and every other Albertan is considered second class.
We don’t get exemptions to avoid public health orders.
What kind of government flouts law and order?

This is not explained by the confused and poorly informed “freedom” focussed Q’Anon and the fanatical Evangelical Christian’s who evidently can’t manage to worship at home.
These are fully informed political aids and politicians. Refusing to be limited by public health orders.
