Do you know those moments at a funeral, or after a person dies, when you start sharing memories and the grief briefly turns to laughter and joy? Well that’s a little bit of what’s happening now.

So many of us are grieving that. There have been so many events that put the nail in the coffin of Bernie‘s presidency. Twice. Our grief has come in punches since 2016. Our dreams and hopes smashed, over and over.
This time, ....
when Barack Obama intervened as he promised. When all the candidates suddenly dropped out. When Jim Clyburn exerted his influence. When somehow the lagging mule won South Carolina. When Covid hit. When Bernie dropped out so he could serve.
When Bernie did the right thing because he needed to exert his influence on the Senate to try to help people get what they need. Our grief has been suppressed.
How many times have you bitten your lip or your tongue or banged your head against the wall when ...
...the #AnyBlueWillDo #BlueMAGAs told you to just shut up and vote. The fear of 45’s administration and his white supremacist lackeys was real. We fell in line. Lots of deep breaths, yoga, and meditation has helped keep us sane over the last several months.
Now that Biden and Harris are firmly installed, we can breathe a sigh of relief. Yes. But a tiny sigh. We know that we’re back in the hands of milquetoast Neoliberals (HT @CornelWest ).
#BerniesMittens might be a brief Internet light in the wilderness, but ....
... it is a real expression of love and admiration for the man who is, not an idol, but a beacon of hope. He drives us to do the work. We know it’s not over. #BernieOrBust. #BernieOrVest We mean it. We’re not done. We will #FightForSomeoneWeDontKnow.
It was never about Bernie. But he did open our eyes. Every speech, an education. Every action, an act of love, compassion, and caring. He continues to work for #AllOfUs. Every day. Every moment. He has never stopped working for the needs of the people.
It was never just about Bernie. It was about the movement. We’re ready to continue the fight and work for love, peace and justice. In the words of @ninaturner we are ready to fight for “a nation as good as its promise!”
Service to others is how we give our lives meaning. I am grateful for the endless glorious barrage of Bernie memes that remind us to do the work!!
