The way the club has got into this mess is of course mismanagement going back years, but we are where we are.

 Dont expect to much vs Chelsea, but BHA and WB they need results, or frankly he's gone, and then what.
As much as i want to blame the owners, they have overseen an overhaul that has given much if not all of the shaping of the club over to Edu. So yes, its on them, but its also on him, and frankly he has been inept.
First one that needs to be shown the door, and if you sack MA then Edu needs to be gone at the same time. Someone on the board, who is based in this country needs to be appointed to oversee with checks and balances on whats going on.
Edu allowed the shaping of the squad in the summer, trying to ostracise players so that they leave and then of course they dont, has allowed for a situation that off field, players have taken sides. This has seeped through the squad and the club is broken because of it.
So much is seeping out of Colney now that its a situation that cant go on. The club need to show the door to players on Jan 1, not Jan 10, or Jan 28th on JAN 1 - pay them off and be gone.
Nobody is paying money for these players, and if the club isnt willing to do that, then frankly this process of backing the manager is meaningless, he will be gone because events will take over.
That will be 4 managers that many of these players will have seen the back of. Nows the time the club sees the back of these players.
Why are they even training with the 1st team anyway, What good is set piece routines if Ozil, or Sok, or Saliba is involved in them if there is no chance said players will be playing with the other players on a matchday.
And not in anyway advocating that the manager is not at major fault here.
If the goalkeeper last night is good enough, and of course he isn't, and should never represent us again then so you would have thought was Saliba. Why no ESR from the start, who with one pass forward did more than any of our MF have done this season.
Why was the summer allowed to fall apart with no creative midfielder being brought in, thats at Edu's door? Again, though had plenty of time to sign players from his own agents stable, and over rewards said players. 4yrs for a backup full back??
This is as dire situation as ive seen at the club going back to the 80's. Players treading water, not caring and actively undermining this manager and previous ones, with an owner who has overseen as the majority shareholder the degradation of club to where we are now.
So now what, scrape round for loans for Jan? Who can even advocate spending money if we dont even know the manager will be there at the end of Jan, let alone a new manager not wanting the previous managers signings.
It does always take time, but in general people get found out, Mark Hughes and Kia at City and QPR anyone?
Sven walked out when he saw what he was dealing with, ook at what he's delivered up where he is now. In turn we brought in a marketing man from Barcelona who paid £72m for player (not his fault) probably worth £25m,& has people wondering where was the oversight on that transfer!
So, simple choice now, back him and remove the issues straight away, or sack him, and then what, and more importantly who, as we may as well just wait for the summer for a new man if they wont action whats needed on the player front in Jan.

An appallingly tardy response to such an important element of reading - apologies. The growing recognition of fluency as the crucial developmental area for primary education is certainly encouraging helping us move away from the obsession with reading comprehension tests.


It is, as you suggest, a nuanced pedagogy with the tripartite algorithm of rate, accuracy and prosody at times conflating the landscape and often leading to an educational shrug of the shoulders, a convenient abdication of responsibility and a return to comprehension 'skills'.

Taking each element separately (but not hierarchically) may be helpful but always remembering that for fluency they occur simultaneously (not dissimilar to sentence structure, text structure and rhetoric in fluent writing).

Rate, or words-read-per-minute, is the easiest. Faster reading speeds are EVIDENCE of fluency development but attempting to 'teach' children(or anyone) to read faster is fallacious (Carver, 1985) and will result in processing deficit which in young readers will be catastrophic.

Reading rate is dependent upon eye-movements and cognitive processing development along with orthographic development (more on this later).

OK I am going to be tackling this as surveillance/open source intel gathering exercise, because that is my background. I blew away 3 years of my life doing site acquisition/reconnaissance for a certain industry that shall remain unnamed and believe there is significant carryover.

CHOICE SITES:

Zillow is obvious one, but there are many good sites like Billy Land, Classic Country Land, Landwatch, etc. and many of these specialize in owner financing (more on that later.) Do NOT treat these as authoritative sources - trust plat maps and parcel viewers.

TARGET IDENTIFICATION AND EVALUATION:

Okay, everyone knows how to google "raw land in x state" but there are other resources out there, including state Departments of Natural Resources, foreclosure auctions, etc. Finding the land you like is the easy part. Let's do a case study.

I'm going to target using an "off-grid but not" algorithm. This is a good piece in my book - middle of nowhere but still trekkable to civilization.

As a grad student, I heard stories about Jewish candidates facing antisemitism on the job market. 

This was ancient history I thought, a sign of how far things had come.

Then I was a finalist for an ancient Judaism job at a Christian denominational university.

I was picked up at the airport by a professor I knew who was a visiting scholar at the university.

As he drove me to campus, he explained that he had volunteered to pick me up so as to warn me that there was no way I was getting the job... because I am Jewish.

He explained that the "old guard" on campus would oppose my hire no matter what I did.

I was picked up by a new member of the faculty, who gave me a tour of the campus.

As we set off, she asked me: "so...did the professor who picked you up tell you anything about the job...?"

I said cryptically: "he warned me that I might face a hostile audience here for reasons outside of my control..."

She responded with visible relief and sadness: "Phew. I wasn't sure how to warn you. It's terrible, I'm really sorry."

I called my beloved advisor that evening to commiserate. She gave me typically wise advice:

1st, this was a small taste of what women & BIPOC face on the market all the time.

2nd, I would not get the position, so I should view the campus visit as an opportunity to practice.

On October 16 2020, a secondary school teacher named Samuel Paty was beheaded with a meat cleaver in the street of a small town 20 miles down the Seine from Paris. 1/x

Paty's murderer, a young Chechen refugee, had never met the teacher. The killer was incited to the crime by a multi-day campaign of defamation and disinformation on French social media. 2/x

For 5 years, Paty had taught his classes a unit on free speech and its limits in a democratic society. As part of the discussion, he showed his students some of the famous Charlie Hebdo cartoons - after inviting those who might be offended to leave and then rejoin the class. 3/x

One parent of one student - not the student herself - then set in motion a campaign of denunciation against Paty. And the result was a crime that shocked France and pulled tens of thousands to vigils and protests. 4/x

France has suffered terrible crimes in the name of religion before the Paty killing. We're only 5 years from the horrifying nightclub attacks that killed 130 in November 2015. But past attacks caught France by surprise. This murder announced itself in advance. 5/x

Funny, before the election I recall lefties muttering the caravan must have been a Trump setup because it made the open borders crowd look so bad. Why would the pro-migrant crowd engineer a crisis that played into Trump's hands? THIS is why. THESE are the "optics" they wanted.


This media manipulation effort was inspired by the success of the "kids in cages" freakout, a 100% Stalinist propaganda drive that required people to forget about Obama putting migrant children in cells. It worked, so now they want pics of Trump "gassing children on the border."
