The fierce form of Shakti who slayed the demons, Chanda, Munda and Mahishasura-the buffalow-headed demon.
Ma Chamundeshwari is the Kuldevi of the Mysuru Maharajas and the presiding deity of Mysuru.

In the earlier days, the Hill was identified as Mahabaladri in honour of Shiva who resides in Mahabaleswara. It is believed that the hair of Sati had fallen here, so it is one of the 18 shakti peethas, also known as Kraunch Peetham.

Later, Devi incarnated here as Chamundi.

Devi Chamundi killed Mahishasura after a fierce battle which gave her the name Mahishasura Mardini. Mahishasur was a mighty Demon who could alter his feature from a human to buffalo and was born to demon Rambha and Mahishi.

It is believed that the Devi murti was established here by Rishi Markandeya. An image of Sri Chakra which symbolizes the Devi herself, is also worshipped.

The shrine is famous for a black granite statue of Nandi and that of Mahishasura holding a sword and a serpent in his hands.

Rishi Sushruta was a physician in ancient Bharat known today as the "Father of Indian Medicine" and "Father of Surgery" for inventing and developing surgical procedures. His work on the subject, the Sushruta Samhita is considered the oldest text in the world on plastic surgery

and is highly regarded as one of the Great Trilogy of Ayurvedic Medicine; the other two being the Charaka Samhita, which preceded it, and the Astanga Hridaya, which followed it. The Sushruta Samhita (works of Sushruta) is one of the most important surviving ancient treatises on

medicine and is considered a foundational text of Medicine. The treatise addresses all aspects of general medicine. The Sushruta Samhita mentions several surgical instruments that closely relate to the modern instruments used today to perform surgeries. The influential nature of

the Sushruta Samhita is supported not only by anatomical knowledge and surgical procedural descriptions contained within its pages but also by the creative approaches that still hold true today.

In the shadowy corners of the shortwave spectrum lurk the Numbers Stations: strange radio broadcasts of mysterious blocks of numbers in creepy monotone voices!

It's actually an old form of spycraft which is still in use today. And as it's #WorldRadioDay let's take a listen...

A Numbers Station is a type of one-way voice link for sending information to spies in foreign countries.

Operating on Short Wave radio bands they transmit a secret code of spoken numbers. Use of Numbers Stations peaked during the Cold War, but some are still operating today.

Numbers Stations are operated by various national intelligence agencies. At set times on a pre-arranged frequency a musical tone is played, followed by a speech synthesised voice reading out blocks of numbers. To most listeners it sounds both creepy and meaningless.

However to spies it can be vital. The numbers can be decoded to reveal a message, provided the spy has the right One Time Pad (OTP) - a random number key that is only used once before it is destroyed. OTP encryption is impossible to break if done correctly.

Why broadcast your secret message on Short Wave? Because it can be picked up across the globe. All a spy needs is a shop bought SW radio, a pencil, and the correct One Time Pad and they - and only they - can decipher the message. No complex kit is required.

THREAD ON IRONFLY

These days the most preferred strategy for option sellers due to improved margins is IRONFLY. It's essentially a short straddle with long strangle. Long strangle acting as 'WINGS', which help in capping the unlimited risk associated with a short straddle.(1/n)

2) Risk Management

Since we are selling an ATM straddle, the 1st question is how far our wings should be? Ideally i sell .50 delta straddle & buy .20 or .10 OTM strangle, depending on my view on volatility. So the distance of wings depends on the IV setup. Higher the IVs, greater the distance.(3/n)

If you don't understand greeks, then ideally with 30 days to expiry (dte), wings should be around 300pts either side. If your trading in weekly then it should be not more than 200pts. Higher the premiums, higher the distance as we have more cushion of theta. (4/n)

It is important to understand that we need to reduce the distance of wings with time so as to manage our RISK in gap openings or sudden volatile move. So for eg. if you started with 300pt wings with 30dte, the wings wouldn't give the same protection when there is 7dte. (5/n)

That's when Dr BV Rao, who was inspired by Dr Kurien's (founder of AMUL) cooperative model for milk revolution, took up the mammoth task of motivating all the poultry farmers to unite & form egg cooperative model
