Here are 10 copywriting tips that will increase clicks and conversions on your website, ads, emails, and more:

Tip: Use timeframes

Real numbers are more compelling than generalizations like "fast" or "quickly."

Be specific and use direct timeframes to convey more value.

Example:

Tip: Remove friction words

Friction words are: sign up, submit, create account, book a call.

Each phrase produces friction by creating more perceived work.

Tell them what they'll get, not what they have to do.

Example:

Tip: One pain-point

"Hike like you mean it" isn't specific to a tangible pain-point

"Hike all day without blisters" highlights one specific pain-point that will be solved.

Tip: Replace buzzwords

"Supercharging" doesn't tell readers what your product actually helps them accomplish.

"Helps you reach inbox zero" does.

2/ In the early days, companies spend a lot of time trying to look for intros to design partners and customers. The chances that your curated investor and advisor list having a warm connection to many of these customers is very high. You have to ACTIVATE investors to help you.

My dad led an organization of over 300,000 employees.

When I took on my biggest marketing & events team to date (35 employees) I asked him how the *heck* he did it. Here's what he said and what helped me every day. 🧵

Remember you're leading all the employees under you, but you're not *managing* them all. You're managing your direct reports, which should be 5-7 individuals max. Focus on them.

When you interact with the employees you don't manage directly, get to know them as people first, that'll be the most valuable information in leading them. Remembering everything you learn about them is hard, but doing so will make you a superhero.

If you're not going to empower the managers under you, why do you have them? If you see room for improvement, let the manager know and let them make the change on their teams and come to you with questions/concerns. This will save you SO much time.

If you're the smartest person in any room - you're doing it wrong. As a leader, your job is bringing together the best people to get the job done - your skillset is identifying those people, not being one of them.

14 steps for acquiring your startup's first customers:

1. Pay to interview people who've successfully grown a startup like yours. You can find them via LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

2. Ask them which 3 channels (ads, SEO, etc.) you should prioritize for acquiring customers.

3. Ask for examples of companies who run these channels well.

Some channels to ask about:

• PR
• Ads
• SEO
• Influencers
• Sponsorships
• Organic social
• Word-of-mouth
• In-depth content
• Referral incentives
• Product-led invites (think Slack, Zoom, Dropbox)

4. Reverse-engineer how those companies run their channels well:

A. Map each step the customer takes between the channel and becoming a happy customer.

B. Study what makes each step great: its pitch, its design, and its user experience.

Here's an example of steps.

• Enter their email
• Trial the product
• Pay for the product
• Stay engaged
