The effect is that every year we spend marginally more of our waking time inert, staring at screens. Often in chairs, spines collapsed; or slouched on sofas, cpus heating our gonads.

No muscles of our exquisitely evolved bodies in motion except certain small muscles of wrists and fingers.

Our eyes, also, inert: perpetually focused on banks of LEDs flickering 60 times a second. Fooled into a perception of distance which lacks the proprioceptive feedback of eye movement.

For neither the tiny muscles of our eye lenses, nor the muscles that move our eyes in parallax to focus near and far are engaged.

So my face isn’t genetically determined!?

Well it is, but only partly.

There are some big muscles that decide most of your facial appearance.

These muscles can be trained and grow just like the muscles in your arms.

Look at the difference it can make:

Weak facial muscles come from them not being used properly.

So before we go into which muscles to train and how, we start with using the muscles properly.

First of all you need to be breathing right.

1/ Breathing

For the right facial structure it is important to breathe correctly.

This is through the nose.

Breathing through the nose strengthens the muscles in your face.

When people breathe through their mouth their jaw is hanging and this weakens the muscles involved.

This causes your jaw to set back and your chin will look like this:

Nonstick pans get their slippery texture from PFAs and PFCs which are high toxic. When heated, multiple chemicals are released into the air and food, including PFOA which is linked to thyroid disease, cancer, and much more.

IMO, all you need is good quality stainless steel & ceramic pans.

My go to for higher heat is stainless steel. My favorite brand all-clad, which is great quality and will last forever.

I used to be embarrassed about my body so much that I wore shirts to the pool.

I got so fed up with myself that I became obsessed about fat loss.

I got my body in shape & spent the past 18 years helping others do the same.

Here's what I learned:

1. Calories are determine how much weight you lose. Hormones determine your hunger & appetite.

2. One of the best things you can do is put your body on a schedule of eating. The more routine you can make eating the easier it is to diet.

3. Eliminate snacking & all form of mindless eating.

4. You don't need to eliminate carbs but you probably need to reduce the amount you're eating.

5. Keep liquid intake to water & zero calorie drinks as much as possible.

6. Getting a good night of sleep helps you burn fat by managing your appetite the next day. When you're low energy & mood you tend to eat more.

7. High stress individuals should eat breakfast & keep the fasting to nighttime. Eating your final meal 3-5 hours prior to sleeping is the best way to do that.

8. Protein is both anabolic & thermogenic. Eat at least .8 to 1 gram per pound of bodyweight in protein at all times.

I’ve often heard it said that COVID restrictions were "all for nothing". I sincerely wish that were true. They were worse than nothing. They were arguably the most senselessly destructive set of policies in all human history. The net decrease in aggregate wellbeing is staggering.

As a kid I worked for a Shepard Breeder & Dog Trainer. What I quickly noticed was that none of his dogs ate dog-food. They ate raw chicken backs, leaf lard, soft bones & occasional puréed vegetables. The result? They lived about twice as long as they were supposed to 🤔

Why 1)Dogs are not designed to eat highly processed dead kibble 2)The lynch pin of a dogs health is their teeth-once this goes they are very susceptible to endocarditis & from here it often goes down hill quickly. Eating a diet high in raw bones keeps dental health optimal

My dog Ike is 6 his teeth look about as good as you can hope for his age. Never had a cleaning.

If your dog has high amounts of tarter you need to get that addressed ASAP

Ok. Bug out Bag / Car bag. This is going to be a long thread. Keep in mind this is a bag/kit designed around having a bag that you can throw in your car and use from there. Not a gun bag or a backpack which I will likely touch on at a later time.

This sprung from the observation of people who were stuck in traffic near DC because of bad weather and some didn’t even have the means to keep themselves hydrated, let alone warm. This thread goes overboard on that concept with the idea of, if i have to make it X miles…

what might i need?

So here goes. My main bag is massive. I wanted something like a duffle that i could move in and out of my car as needed.

MH makes amazing tents and bags. The color isnt ideal, but for something that will be in the car its fine.

I bought about four different packing pod styles. First Spear summit bags, mystery ranch zoid, Patagonia black holes, and spiritus systems wantons.

All of them are pretty well made and all serve a kind of unique purpose with what your packing.

If i had to choose the best, it’s between the mystery ranch and the Patagonia. If it was purely for rucking, it would be spiritus.

So clothes. The first thing i tried to keep in mind is layers. Rain/wind/ cold.

Today I reorganised my spice cupboard, labelling everything in jars so I can easily see what needs to be refilled, and what I don’t use. Thought this may be a good time to do an essential herbs and spices post. In this thread, I’ll show you what you should have.

Firstly: sage, paprika, crushed chillies, fennel seeds and ras el hanout. The chillies and fennel seeds are great flavourings for anything you fry in olive oil. Paprika goes without saying, and ras el hanout is a beautiful spice mix. Sage is for when you can’t get fresh leaves.

Next: allspice, bay leaves, juniper berries, cayenne pepper, peppercorns. Allspice is good for Caribbean food; cayenne pepper for American style hot food. Bay leaves are good for ragù, juniper berries for duck, and black peppercorns for refilling the grinder.

Oregano, cumin, garam masala, garlic powder, nutmeg. Oregano for when you can’t get fresh leaves, cumin and garam masala for Indian cuisine, garlic powder for when you want garlic flavour but without the actual bite, nutmeg for everything from ragù to Irish coffee.

Ginger, sumac, cinnamon, turmeric, poppy seeds. Ginger, cinnamon and turmeric go great with barbecue flavours like jerk chicken. Sumac is great with salmon (and anything with big flakes of salt), and poppy seeds are good for added protein in pastries.
