On the current #FarmLaws2020, there is much debate as to what may or may not happen.

WHAT WILL NOT HAPPEN
MSP will not go away; APMC Mandis will not close; Farmers land cannot be taken way

WHAT WILL HAPPEN
Farmers can sell in Mandis & outside; More income; More jobs. 2/10

So what was the need for #FarmLaws2020 reforms when as per Left groups all was well?

1) Fragmented markets
2) Insufficient markets
3) Inadequate Infra
4) Inadequate credit

While rest of the economy was opening up, farmers were restricted. Result - Huge Income Disparity. 3/10

What about the charge that there has not been adequate consultation before #FarmLaws2020 were passed?

THE TRUTH: Two decades of consultation. Farm Reforms are perhaps the only policy reforms where there has been consensus movement in SAME DIRECTION by multiple governments. 4/10

So what are the benefits of the law that allows the farmers to sell in APMC Mandis as at present but also, and importantly, anywhere outside?

So a few days back I was tweeting about SSRIs. The big question with these drugs is: why do controlled trials routinely show such small effects when practitioners and patients report life-changingly-large effects?

So first off, at this point the evidence is pretty clear that SSRIs and other anti-anxiety/anti-depression drugs truly don't do very much. Their average effects are beneath clinical significance, as I tweeted about here:

Basically, the problem these drugs face is that while they actually see relatively LARGE effects.... but that placebos in those trials ALSO see large effects (and most untreated depression improves within a year anyways).

So basically you have this problem where:
1. The condition tends to improve on its own in a majority of cases
2. Placebo effects for the condition are unusually large

Which means the large crude effects of SSRIs get swamped.

So that raises two new questions.
1. (Not my focus here) Are we treating these conditions appropriately given their untreated prognosis is usually (though certainly not always!!) "goes away in a few months"?

2. Why are placebo effects so unusually large?

Stubborn belly fat can be 'stubborn' for a variety of reasons.

- Your genetics
- Your calories aren't low enough
- Your hormones suck
- Your metabolism has dropped too much

A calorie deficit WILL eliminate this eventually, but often it's not realistic.

Let's get into this...

1. Your Calories

You may just be eating too much food.

If you're 160 pounds, yet you're averaging 2500 calories on most days while not doing any cardio, then it's just too much food.

There's nothing wrong with you, you just need to eat nutrient-dense, calorie-sparse foods.

2. Your Hormones

If you've got low T, you may reach a point in the diet where a calorie deficit just leads to further muscle loss, rather than fat loss.

To combat this:

+ OBVIOUSLY train hard with weights
+ Make sure you're sleeping properly

+ Get your vitamin D
+ Get on TRT if the above doesn't work
+ Take 1-2 months at maintenance, if all the above doesn't work

Stress/cortisol is directly linked to low T and lack of sleep.

SO the solutions are the same for high cortisol.

This is still the dark ages of software development. I don't mean that in the common nonsense sense of "methods," but of perception and of goals.

As a whole, this behaves exactly like a primitive age does: all effort spent solving the same problems over and over again.

A "technology," if it means anything, is something you do that stops you from solving the same problem over and over again. You can spend J energy solving every instance of problem X as it manifests into infinity, or you can spend J energy abolishing X through a "technology."

Capitalism rewards every industry, not only "tech," to never abolish a good X. Instead, it encourages us to create some machinery to sell temporary remedies for getting rid of every instance of X as it crops up everywhere.

If "technology is what matters," then we must change the social system and culture we live in, because that culture is the greatest meta-machine for mass suppression of technology that has ever been invented.

People's instincts, individually and collectively, are always to correctly decide when to erase instances of problem generators, and when to attack the problem generators themselves. The current system and culture eliminate 99%+ of that wisdom. It's massively stupid.
