Rani Chennamma of Kittur was one of the first women rulers of India who fought against the might of the British Empire in 1824. Rani Chennamma was born in 1778 in a small village of Kakati in Belgaon distt of the State of Karnataka.

She was born into the Lingayat Community to a man named Dhulappa Desai. From a very young age she was trained in horse riding,sword fighting, archery and diplomacy. At a very young age of 15 yrs, she was married to the King of Kittur and became the Queen of Kittur.

It is said that King of Kittur Mallasarja was once moving around in the neighbouring kingdoms to find support to fight Tipu Sultan. It is then, when he came across Chennamma and he immediately got attracted to her sheer confidence and bravery.

Rani Chennamma and King Mallasarja had a son together who died very soon after the death of King Mallasarja in 1816. As the Queen of Kittur, Rani Chennamma immediately adopted Shivalingappa as her son and declared him the heir to the throne of Kittur.

KANTESHA means Prabhu full of brightness.
Here, Sri Hanuman appears with a front face and sparkling eyes. Earlier, the village was also called KANTESHPURI on the name of Kantesha Hanuman.

Several thousands of years ago, Hanuman lived in this village. He once saw the Sun and mistaking it to be a fruit, began flying towards it. Since then, this village came to be known as Kadara Man Dalagi. (Kadar means rays, mandala is cluster of rays).

It is believed that King Janmejaya had set up the shrine to get rid of his difficulties.
There is a small pond on the right side of the kshetram where Teppotsava (Float festival) is celebrated.

Kanaka Dasa has praised Sri Kantesha in his various poetic compositions.

Kanaka Dasa was the first devotee to popularize the power of Kantesha. It is said that once Kanaka Dasa was deeply wounded in a battle. To seek blessings, he visited Tirupati but Sri Venkatesha appeared in his dream and advised him to see Kantesha first before seeing him.

On the border between Tamilnadu and erstwhile Andhra , lies the temple town of Thiruthani, one of the six famed abodes of Lord Muruga. Krishnamurthy Ella was born in 1969,

in an agricultural family to middle class parents. No one could have imagined his trajectory.

Perhaps because of his background, Krishna wanted to study agriculture. His father wasn’t pleased - he told his son “Nobody becomes a farmer by just studying agriculture” .

Unfazed, Krishna joined University of Agricultural sciences in Bangalore. His passion and hardwork earned him a gold medal. Unlike “ordinary” gold medalists, he wasn’t content to get a job.

Nevertheless he supported himself after undergrad by working briefly in the agricultural division of Bayer Pharma. He longed for more. He got a rotary scholarship which enabled him to move to the US, to do his PhD in University of Wisconsin.

The scholarship was the wind under his wings. There was no looking back.

His speciality was molecular biology.

While in the US, he met Suchitra, an economics graduate and married her.

Average Indians in US would dream of a green card for themselves.

Dec 1961 : When India blitzed Portuguese-held Goa, both USA & Portugal moved a ceasefire resolution in the United Nations (UN)

The Soviets used the power of VETO against the resolution and Egypt blocked the Portuguese Navy at Suez Canal.

Why??

Using the 'Bay of Pigs' incident as a perfect smokescreen, India planned to take back Goa from Portugal.

Portuguese Prime Minister Salazar was furious and he ordered the Portuguese soldiers in Goa to fight to the last man. The Portuguese soldiers started planting mines in Goa.

Salazar then dispatched the Portuguese Navy towards India.

Salazar's plan was simple.

If the Portuguese Navy crossed the Suez canal & engaged in a small skirmish with the Indian Navy, then the NATO forces could be called for help. (Since Portugal was a founding member of NATO)

1) Under the terms of the 1899 Anglo-Portuguese Treaty, Britain was obliged to come to Lisbon’s assistance if any Portuguese colony was attacked.

2) Article 5 of NATO states that an attack on one member of NATO is an attack on all of its members

और देवर्षि नारद वहीं बैठकर तपस्या में लीन हो गए।इन्द्र नारद की तपस्या से घबरा गए।उन्हें हमेशा की तरह अपना सिंहासन व स्वर्ग खोने का डर सताने लगा।इसलिए इन्द्र ने नारद की तपस्या भंग करने के लिए कामदेव को उनके पास भेज दिया।वहां पहुंच कामदेव ने अपनी माया से वसंतऋतु को उत्पन्न कर दिया।

पेड़ और पौधों पर रंग बिरंगे फूल खिल गए और कोयलें कूकने लगी,पक्षी चहकने लगे।शीतल,मंद,सुगंधित और सुहावनी हवा चलने लगी।रंभा आदि अप्सराएं नाचने लगीं ।किन्तु कामदेव की किसी भी माया का नारद पे कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ा।तब कामदेव को डर सताने लगा कि कहीं नारद क्रोध में आकर मुझे श्राप न देदें।

जैसे ही नारद ने अपनी आंखें खोली, उसी क्षण कामदेव ने उनसे क्षमा मांगी।नारद मुनि को तनिक भी क्रोध नहीं आया और उन्होने शीघ्र ही कामदेव को क्षमा कर दिया।कामदेव प्रसन्न होकर वहां से चले गए।कामदेव के चले जाने पर देवर्षि के मन में अहंकार आ गया कि मैने कामदेव को हरा दिया।

नारद फिर कैलाश जा पहुंचे और शिवजी को अपनी विजयगाथा सुनाई।शिव समझ गए कि नारद अहंकारी हो गए हैं और अगर ये बात विष्णु जी जान गए तो नारद के लिए अच्छा नहीं होगा।ये सोचकर शिवजी ने नारद को भगवन विष्णु को ये बात बताने के लीए मना किया। परंतु नारद जी को ये बात उचित नहीं लगी।

There was a man by the name of Asadi/ Basava. He used to attend a fair at the neighboring village. Once, he was harassed by some men due to his poor status. So he did not go to the fair. Instead, he stayed in his village Sirsi and prayed to Devi.

One night, he had a dream where Devi Kali informed him about her presence in a tank at his village. When the tank was searched, people found a box with parts of murti. The different parts were assembled together and since then Sirsi Devi became popular in the region.

The kshetram has extremely striking murals in ‘Kaavi’ art. It is an art form of the Konkan region of coastal Karnataka. This stunning art involves creation of patterns in red colour against a white background.

In the 1659 Adilshah sent Afzalkhan with the army of 75000 soldiers to destroy Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with his empire. He was the main soldier, warrior and minister in Adilshahi Sultanate.

He was the Subhedar of Wai province.

He was very powerful physically. His height was 7.3 ft. due to same he was very popular as a strong man from Adilshahi Sultanate.

Whole India was not daring to fight with Adilshahi due to Afzal Khan.

Badi Begum Sahiba sent him to kill Chhatrapati Shivaji on any cost.

Voluntary he decided to destroy Chhatrapati Shivaji’s empire with him. He started his operation against Chhatrapati Shivaji from "wai". He destroyed many temples like as Tulja Bhavani Temple.

He destroyed so many villages, killed villagers to torture Chhatrapati Shivaji.

DETAILED VIEW- Running commentary

1. Chhatrapati Shivaji chose Pantaji as a lawyer to communicate with Afzal Khan. Pantaji was very sharp minded, who did his job very nicely.

2. He presented Chhatrapati Shivaji is fearing Afzal Khan and he wanted to invite him in his kingdom near Pratapgad.

3. Pantaji succeed in the communication with Afzal Khan and he brought him as per the planning of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

..स्वयं अपनी रानियों कुंती व माद्री के साथ वन चले गए।पांडवों का जन्म भी कुंती को ऋषि दुर्वासा द्वारा दिए गए मंत्र से हुआ था जिसमे किसी भी देव का स्मरण कर उस देव से कुंती,पुत्र प्राप्त कर सकती थी।एक बार माद्री पे मोहित हो जब पांडु ने उसे स्पर्श किया,उसी क्षण पांडु की मृत्यु होगयी।

Raja Abhisheka Pandiyan went ahead to meet Ellam Valla Siddhar on the premises of the temple.On seeing the arrival of Raja, people surrounding Siddhar moved back. Abhisheka Pandiyan introduced himself to Siddhar &asked about his whereabouts.Also his purpose of visit to Madurai.

Raja asked why he performed magical acts, does he expect anything from him or people of Madurai.

Siddhar laughed & replied to Raja that he was from Kasi. He had heard a lot about Madurai in Kashi.Also told that this place is a Mukti Kshetram,so he had come to stay here.

Siddhar asked Raja if he has the capability &power to give anything that he asks for. Siddhar told King that he has power to do things even if he think of it.Siddhar asked King to ask whatever he wants & it would be provided, whatever these people had asked, they were granted.

Abhisheka Pandyan was shocked to receive such a reply from Siddhar,& he decided to test the power of this Siddhar. By that time, Raja saw a person in crowd having Sugarcane.

Raja took Sugarcane from that person.

Kannudaya Nayaki Amman Temple is located in Nattarasankottai, of Tamil Nadu. Devi is Swayambhu here and is worshipped as Kannudaya Nayaki / Kannathal. Amman is famous for curing eye related issues.

Kannathal emerged here for destroying Mahishan,  an asura who is supposed to be killed only by a women.

Story says that, once people who were traveling through the area, could not proceed after a certain place. The people went to the King of that area and informed the same.

But the day before people met King,  Devi came in King's dream and told him about a Vigraham near the forest. King along with the people went to the forest and started digging. While digging, a person got hit in the eye and lost his eye sight

Later they found the Vigraham and as soon as it was taken up, the person got his eyes cured. As Devi cured the eye sight of the person, she is worshipped in the temple as Kannudaya Nayaki Amman.

Let's look back to it's history

Gita Press was established in 1923 by JD Goyanka. Hanuman Prasad Poddar was its founding editor.

Its first journal Kalyan was published in 1927. Unless other publications, Gita Press publishes its books at a very reasonable price. For example, a Bhagavad Gita can be procured at Rs.30. A copy of Hanuman Chalisa cost just Rs. 2 (50 lakh copies printed every year).

But why? Why does Gita Press publish excellent books at such a minimum token price which inevitably equals or exceeds the creation cost? The answer to this question is that Gita Press was not founded to be a profit making enterprise.

Its goals were something very different, Gita Press was founded at a time when Christian Missionaries were making rapid progress in converting Hindus. They were making all out attacks on Hinduism. Missionaries used to distribute copies of Bible to anyone who

shows slightest inclination to accept it.

Bibles were flowing By contrast, except for a few Pandits who were specialists in the field, an ordinary Hindu did not have any printed copy of any of his books. Ordinary Hindu did not have any good knowledge of his own Dharma’s books.

एक बार भगवान कृष्ण की पत्नी महारानी सत्यभामा को अपनी सुन्दरता का अभिमान हो चला।दरबार में सिंहासन पर बैठे महारानी सत्यभामा ने श्री कृष्ण से अनायास ही पूछ लिया,"स्वामी!आपने त्रेता युग में भगवान राम के रूप में अवतार लिया था तथा सीता आपकी पत्नी थीं।क्या वह मुझसे भी ज्यादा सुन्दर थी?"

श्री कृष्ण सत्यभामा के प्रश्न का उत्तर देते कि उससे पहले ही गरुड़ बोल पड़े,"प्रभु!क्या मुझसे भी ज्यादा तीव्र गति से कोई इस सम्पूर्ण जग में उड़ सकता है।"
ये सुन सुदर्शन से भी नहीं रहा गया और वह भी बोल पड़ा,"भगवन!मैनें बड़े-बड़े युद्धों में आपको विजयश्री दिलवाई है।

क्या संसार में मुझसे भी बड़ा कोई शक्तिशाली है।" तीनों की ये बातें सुन श्री कृष्ण मंद-मंद मुस्कुरा रहे थे और जान रहे थे कि इन सबमें अहंकार आ गया है जिसे नष्ट करना अति आवश्यक है।तब श्री कृष्ण ने उन तीनो से कहा,"मेरा एक परम भक्त है, हनुमान।तुम तीनों के प्रश्नों के उत्तर वही...

...भलीभांति दे पाएगा। हे गरुड़! तुम तो बड़ी तीव्र गति से उड़ते हो।तुम जाओ और हनुमान को ये कहकर बुला लाओ कि भगवान राम , माता सीता के साथ उनकी प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं। प्रभु राम और माता सीता का नाम सुनकर वे दौड़े-दौड़े चले आएंगे।" गरुड़ भगवान की आज्ञा लेकर हनुमानजी को बुलाने उड़ चले।

इधर श्री कृष्ण ने सत्यभामा से कहा कि देवी आप सीता के रूप में तैयार हो जाएं और स्वयं द्वारकाधीश ने श्री राम का रूप धारण कर लिया।फिर श्री कृष्ण ने सुदर्शन को आज्ञा देते हुए कहा कि तुम महल के प्रवेशद्वार पर पहरा दो।ज्ञात रहे कि मेरी आज्ञा के बिना कोई भी महल में प्रवेश न करने पाए ।
