So we had discussed a few pointers in the previous thread about options,its time now we discuss further implications and applicability in this thread which will help you in NEW YEAR.
Let’s go and dive into the world of options trading.

-The amount of decay can be measured by theta. This is why you can be right on stock price direction and still lose money. The time decay portion of the option price overpowers the directional move in the underlying stock price.

-During result days due to the heightened uncertainty, there is opportunity for options sellers because of the expensive premium. When entering into an earnings trade, it is optimal to initiate the trade as close in time to the event as possible.

-Keep some cash on sidelines. This would help in adjustments,margin expansion,face losses and also during new opportunities which suddenly arise. A lot of people do the mistake of going all in and regretting later.

-Everything in trading has a trade off.

Unlimited profit comes at the expense of low probability of profit. Give up some profit potential, and you gain a higher probability of profit.
-By using portfolio beta weighted delta, you can accurately gauge your overall portfolio risk. If your portfolio is leaning too far in..

1. The worst affected sector:
The worst affected of the lot will be travel industry. The incomes produced by movement and the travel industry, which contributes 9.2% of the GDP, will negatively affect the GDP rate. UNWTO assessments portray a fall of 20–30%in global travellers.

2. Positive replacement from China:
A chance to partake in worldwide stockpile chains, multinationals are losing trust in China. In'Make in India', a few changes are required,and if that takes place, manufacturing and API base companies will shift to India giving a growth blast.

3. Construction sector can see loss of revenue :
We saw an appalling mass migration of such coasting populace of travelers by walking,amidst of countrywide lockdown. Wage workers specially working in construction,may not turn back so quickly. Many have preferred farming too!

4. Bankning and Finance sector
For a moment stop comparing ground realities with stock market action. Nonperforming credits relating to retail and MSME sections are on the ascent. In its Financial Stability Report,RBI has also said it fears defaults of many loans in next 2yrs!

The entire thread will have some quick pointers on options trading. These bullet points are based on experience and learning and even if you are completely new,will help you to build some perspective. So,lets go :

-When new,prefer trading monthly options over weekly options to reduce risk
-Set up your trades with greater than 50% Probability Of Profit
- Use implied volatility in your decision making process
-Book some trades at 50% of max profit i.e. locking of profit incase u are buyer

-Don’t adjust losing defined risk strategies. A lot of people get into the bad habit of averaging and run the risk of losing a lot
-Diversify your portfolio across product, direction, and time,this has to be considered while you are planning to put in multiple strikes in folio

-Short Strangles are one of our go-to strategies because of their high probability of profit and increased profit potential.A little effort with understanding of volatility would help
-Allocate no more than 5% of your account to any one trade

-Trade small, trade often to increase your number of occurrences. Some might deny but this works
-In options you might have heard of spreads.Multiple options legs create an options spread. For example, a short strangle consists of selling a call and selling a put simultaneously.

Who started it?
John Bogle, commonly referred to as Jack, is known as The Father of Index Investing and The Father of Index Funds. Bogle was born in Montclair, New Jersey on May 8, 1929.


What was the first index fund?
After graduation, Bogle went to work for Wellington Management from 1951 to 1974, but was fired because of a merger decision he made. In 1974, he found the Vanguard Group Inc., and in 1976 he introduced the first retail index fund the Vanguard 500

Why should we trust Bogle and not telegram rockets?
Although Bogle was initially mocked for his introduction of the index fund, he proved to be a true visionary and was even named as one of the “World’s 100 Most Powerful and Influential People” by Time Magazine in 2004


What is Vanguard's position right now?
Vanguard has grown to become one of the world’s largest investment management companies, with more than five trillion in global assets under management. Although Mr. Bogle died in January of 2019, his philosophy of index investing is ALIVE.

3/ I am going to assume you are in it for the money rather than the tech. Yeah, you might Tweet about the amazing blockchaining of cross-border payments and oracles yadda yadda...really, you are in it to make money.

If you are really in it for the tech, go and build something.

4/ Okay, so if you want to make money, trading is super hard, you are trading against:
- Better traders than you
- People who can move markets
- Unknown information

And if you are trading with leverage you might blow up your account with the volatility.

5/ If you are not trading, you are investing. Okay, so what are you investing in?

For fun I made a Robinhood account. It took me 5 minutes to sign up, get approved and transfer funds for trading...

Here's some details... Read on.

...it took me another 5 minutes to get qualified for options.

If I share a sign up I get "free shares" and I can share as much as I want up to 500$ worth.

The main UI has a prepopulated "list" of stocks/crypto to watch and links to news.


Clicking a stock opens a "trade" button that looks like this.

Notice options is first, buy second.

Options took me to an approval process (which took about a minute) and now away I go trading Baba options.


Buying stock looks like this. It emphasizes fractional shares.

The 1% Rule 🧵

The 1% Rule states that you should risk, at most, 1% of your total account on every individual trade.

This 1% risk is a function of two flexible components:

• Your Position Size: % of your account in the trade
• Your Trade Risk: % between your entry price and your stop loss

Want to take a larger position size? Make your stop tighter.

Trading a volatile stock? Size down on the trade.


The most important aspect of trading is risk management.

It's great to make money, but worthless if you don't have a system to keep it.

Over 50% of my trades are losses, but I'm still profitable because of the 1% Rule.

Keep losses small & let winners run!

"Nick, 1% risk isn't enough, my account is small."

New traders are EXACTLY who benefits the most!

By limiting each trade's potential losses to 1% it will take you:

• 29 straight losses to fall 25%
• 69 straight losses to fall 50%

A 🧵on the basics of block and bulk deals.

Block and bulk deals are large purchases of stocks by investment banks, mutual funds, hedge funds, pension funds, FIIs, and promoters. Tracking block and bulk deals can help give you a sense of what these large players are thinking.

A single transaction where shares more than Rs 10 crores or the number of shares traded are more than 5 lakh is considered a block deal.

Block deals are carried out in separate trading windows. This trading window operates in two shifts of 15 minutes each:

Morning trading window from 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM.
Afternoon trading window from 2:05 PM to 2:20 PM

Block deals happen in different windows to reduce volatility and sudden price movements. Given that they are traded in a separate window, they do not show up on the volume charts.

In 1937, a trucker got frustrated waiting for his cargo to be unloaded. He later sold his company for $1.1 billion.

Here’s the story of how Malcom McLean made a billion dollars and which startup could be following in his footsteps. (Inspired by our episode with @laurabehrenswu)


In the early 1950s, the shipping industry was a dying business.

New York’s docks were handling half as much domestic cargo in the early 1950s as they had been in the depressed 1930s.

In thirty years, no one had invested significant money in coastal shipping.

Why?

As McLean found out, loading ships was difficult and slow.

A truck or train would deliver items to the port. Each item was unloaded separately, recorded, and carried to storage.

When a ship was ready, each item was taken from storage, counted again, and hauled on-board.


The cost of this labor was significant. As one expert at the time explained:

“A four-thousand-mile voyage for a shipment might consume 50 percent of its costs in covering just the two ten-mile movements through two ports.”


Yet, despite the industry’s issues, it felt little pressure to change.

Foreigners were barred from operating domestically. Cartels ran international routes. And gov. subsidies eased the pain of labor costs.

Reshaping the industry needed an outsider.

The murti was installed during Wodeyar rule. An utsava murti made of pancha loha is kept in the sanctum sanctorum.
Another shrine here is dedicated to Siddeshwara / Shiva surrounded by a beautiful wooden Mantapa.

You do not need anybody's permission. We don't have diplomas, nor doctorates. We can barely agree on a single standard of what a Product Manager is supposed to do.

But – there is at least one blindingly obvious industry consensus – a Product Manager makes Products.

And they don't need to be kept at the exact right temperature, given endless resource, or carefully protected in order to do this.

They find their own way.

The Swastik is a geometrical figure and an ancient religious icon. Swastik has been Sanatan Dharma’s symbol of auspiciousness – mangalya since time immemorial.


The name swastika comes from Sanskrit (Devanagari: स्वस्तिक, pronounced: swastik) &denotes “conducive to wellbeing or auspicious”.
The word Swastik has a definite etymological origin in Sanskrit. It is derived from the roots su – meaning “well or auspicious” & as meaning “being”.

Scholars believe word’s origin in Vedas,known as Swasti mantra;

(THREAD) The Whitaker scandal is deepening, as it becomes clear that Sessions' Russia recusal was a coordinated sham and his firing an act of obstruction—and that his replacement is a White House plant inside the Mueller probe. I hope you'll retweet and read on for more details.


1/ From 2014-17 Whitaker worked for World Patent Marketing—which during his tenure defrauded consumers out of $26 million and was successfully prosecuted by the feds. His involvement in the scam confirmed he had loose morals and that the feds would never want to employ him again.

2/ Despite the seeming impossibility of a man with Whitaker's background getting a job at Justice ever again—he'd been found to have used his former title as a US attorney to fraudulently threaten consumers with valid complaints with criminal penalties—Whitaker found an opening.

3/ Within 60 days of parachuting out of World Patent Marketing as it was being fined $26 million by the feds, Whitaker was working for CNN and telling a fellow attorney panelist that his purpose in working for CNN was to get noticed by one man—Donald Trump—and thereby get a job.

4/ Whitaker spent his time at CNN making ludicrous statements about the Mueller probe: there was no obstruction or collusion, he said; Mueller had no authority to look into any aspect of Trump's finances or to subpoena him, he said. All the while, he hoped Trump was watching him.
