1/ The SCOTUS decision in favor of the "religious freedom" to gather in large groups despite the pandemic is part of a larger effort to elevate so called religious liberty above all other freedoms, but not in the way most agree with...

2/ Most everyone would agree that people's right to worship as they see fit should be protected, to believe as they wish, free from persecution, etc. That is not what this is, or what other religious liberty cases are about...

3/ These cases are about elevating the rights of persons claiming to be acting on the basis of religious belief, to engage in activity that injures others, without consequence. So here it means the right to worship in large groups even if it endangers public health...

4/ In other cases it means the right to discriminate against customers if you have a 'religious objection' to their sexual orientation, gender identity, etc. And what's especially disturbing is the real endgame, which few talk about...

5/ This is really about gutting civil rights protections. If you ask virtually any right wing conservative jurist, or commentator or politician, they will admit, if you push, that they don't think civil rights law should ever have applied to private businesses...

Another day of strong early voting in Georgia, with another 154k voters turning out in person yesterday. That's similar to but slightly behind the fourth day of early voting in the general, which was at 164k

Cumulatively, we're still running ahead of the general election on in-person early voting, but I don't think anyone expects that to last--and there's a very long time left for that flip to happen

As I've said, the big takeaway is that the turnout looks like it will be healthy and high, and it's not obvious who it will help v. the general. As I've mentioned, there are crosscutting patterns at play that make it difficult to sort out where we'll end up. Let's look at a few

One is that there are fewer absentee votes--and those are heavily Democratic.
This is expected: far fewer realistic opportunities for voters to request a ballot for this special than the general. And some counties may be behind

Now, of course, if in-person and election day voting drop just as much (or more), then this isn't actually an issue for Democrats at all. That would have been a very reasonable assumption before early voting. Now I'm not totally sure! We'll have to wait and see

Without the electoral college, New York and Los Angeles would set policy for the entire nation. This may come as a surprise to some, but there are lots of people in America who don’t want to be like New Yorkers or Los Angelans.

We believe in marriage for a lifetime, not for convenience. We think sex outside of marriage is destructive to society and leads to evils such as abortion.

We’re willing to tolerate and even laugh at the excesses of the coastal elites so long as they don’t try to force us to live their way. We get to express those views in who we vote for. And you don’t get to tell us we can’t express those views. Because you’re not the boss of us.

People are mad because I refused to give Biden credit for his empty platitudes. I don't care. Obama got elected and got away with everything because he was eloquent and said things that sounded good even though he did the opposite.

I'm tired of the weight given to superficiality

You cannot possibly promote the idea that America is a fundamentally racist country while ignoring the violence and destruction that is happening as a result of that falsehood as well as the extreme radicalism taking over your own party and also believe "we need to come together"

These things are diametrically opposed. It is like beating your wife and everyone knows you beat your wife and then you come out and start talking about how we need to do something about domestic violence. The sentiment is correct. But you, yourself, are a hypocritical liar.

Paying lip service to something that needs to happen while actively working against it happening is why I am not applauding him. He is acting like a snake. Trying to say "the right things" so we don't see what he's actually doing.

So be mad if you want. I award him no points.

OK, so this election results thing is quite nail-biting, isn't it? I see a lot of leftists of all nationalities theorising about why it is so close & Trump could win. These theories fall into a number of categories. Amazingly, only the ones that agree with me are correct.

A misguided friend sent me a document supporting #45Regime allegations that he won reelection in November. Among the allegations is that in #Nevada "in an effort orchestrated by the Biden campaign, Native Americans appear to have traded their votes not for pieces of silver but

rather for Visa gift cards, jewelry, and other 'swag.'"

Here's the link to the Nevada Supreme Court's decision in response to the Biden delegates' request for the Court to expedite a squashing of the Trump delegates' attempts to forbid them from voting

I'm no lawyer, but this sounds to me like Mike Tyson pulverizing a boxer seconds after the bell of the 1st round is rung:
