 I know it’s so hard for folks to understand how important this is, even for me. I don’t have words. My mind is all garbling with how incredible Esther and @tyler_t_moran are.

Both of them are incredibly humble. Both likely annoyed right now at the fuss. “Let’s get to work!”

Esther Olavarria - is more of a stalkerish situation. I had always heard about Esther (no last name was ever needed). In 2009 when I got involved it was a name everyone talked about. “the immigration queen” me I WANT TO KNOW HER - she was born in Cuba, not here, just like me!
For 21 year old me, I didn’t know people could even work in politics if they weren’t born in the USA (Legit). I googled everything about her, her work with Sen Ted Kennedy 🙏🏾, her work as an immigration attorney at a Haitian resource center, 1986 (1986 was always my WOW!) -
I read about her push for immigration reform and her role in it. I finally got the opportunity to meet her at the ELVCC and of course when It came time to, I froze. She smiled and said “Astrid, I’ve heard about you, how’s your father?” Me *dad? My dad?* she smiled and said -
“Let’s talk one of these days” WTF!? The Queen of Immigration told me let’s talk!? I totally fangirled - over a policy lady at the White House 😂 thats me. I would occasionally see her and slowly built up my being able to talk to her, by then she was out of the WH, working on
other projects. Last year, I saw her again, I was so happy. She was on a panel and I texted @BlancaSprkls this picture with emojis and a crown “The Queen” (I know Esther doesn’t like this title but I’m a millennial and I live for it) Esther has a peaceful way of explaining even
the most complex topics. There’s a light around her that even when there is a disagreement you feel there is no malice. I know, in my younger years I wanted to eat the world, burn the policy down, thankfully I had people to look up to who said “burn it down, but have a strategy”
We all have different roles and the more I do this, the more I learn how important each one is and how valuable it is when there is forethought into all of it. I told Esther how scared I was and how 2020 was far too messy and dangerous for me. She told me to follow my instincts.
A few hours after that, I got really bad news about my Dad, I was in Miami - my biggest fear, not being there when he needed me. I had a fairly severe panic attack. Not uncommon in the past four years, but made worse by not being at my home and away from my Dad. We were at an -
Immigration conference for @USImmHub and there I was amongst so many people in the same or worse situations breaking down. Esther took my phone and helped me get into my car to the airport. I cleared up enough to get on a flight and get home. When I landed, I had a text making
sure I had gotten home safely. It was from Esther.

Esther and Tyler as well as so many others in the Biden-Harris administration are people who come from our communities, people who have had to live through what we have. I want to remind you, they are humans, just like you.
I’m not expecting perfection, I want my familias to be heard.

I’ve been in a perpetual depression for 4 years, I never knew this even in my 17-y/o-I-can’t-go-to-college-days. Seeing the sun peaking through the ⛅️ , is something I never thought I’d see.

We’ve been getting calls and outreach from Queens residents all day about this.

The community’s response? Outrage.


Amazon is a billion-dollar company. The idea that it will receive hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks at a time when our subway is crumbling and our communities need MORE investment, not less, is extremely concerning to residents here.

When we talk about bringing jobs to the community, we need to dig deep:
- Has the company promised to hire in the existing community?
- What’s the quality of jobs + how many are promised? Are these jobs low-wage or high wage? Are there benefits? Can people collectively bargain?

Displacement is not community development. Investing in luxury condos is not the same thing as investing in people and families.

Shuffling working class people out of a community does not improve their quality of life.

We need to focus on good healthcare, living wages, affordable rent. Corporations that offer none of those things should be met w/ skepticism.

It’s possible to establish economic partnerships w/ real opportunities for working families, instead of a race-to-the-bottom competition.

(THREAD) The main problem with that @DanDrezner piece in the Post is that it's an international politics prof writing about the field in which I'm a professor—communications. No one in communications would *ever* compare the blogosphere to either Twitter or Substack. Here's why.

1/ Back in the mid-aughts, I was a Koufax Award-nominated political blogger (I don't know what Drezner was doing then; I first heard of him about a year ago). So I was into the blogosphere pretty deep, as I also ran a second high-traffic blog that was focused on the art world.

2/ The "blogosphere" was an outgrowth of MySpace and LiveJournal, inasmuch as in the heady early days of the internet people suddenly realized that they could engage in private diaristic writing—a very specific subgenre of writing—in the public square, and it was suddenly "okay."

3/ So the blogosphere as such had *nothing* to do with journalism, which needless to say was in a different state just 15 years ago (note: unlike Drezner, I also teach writing and journalism at the university level, so this thread is squarely "in my area," unlike his Post piece).

4/ The blogosphere was a manifestation of the transformation of the public-private binary at the dawn of the internet—and *also* connected to the "creative writing" explosion (what I did a PhD on); in the aughts, creative writing was the fastest-growing discipline *in the world*.

5 star RSI Strategy by @VishalMalkan

Unconventional approach of 60-40 RSI and range shift concept.

According to him,
whenever the market is bearish,
it won’t be able to cross 60,
and whenever in a bullish trend,
it won’t be able to cross 40.

Like & Retweet for Maximum Reach.

So, instead of the 70-30 Relative Strength Index,
we will use the 60-40 range for the RSI indicator for this strategy.

When the
Monthly and Weekly RSI>60,
& when the RSI takes support at 40 in the daily chart,
it may bounce back and most probably it will not go below 40.

If a bullish candle is formed at the 40 RSI level,
the prices may bounce back, and one can enter the stock.

The stoploss can be placed at the low of that bullish candlestick,
and the target can be the 60 RSI level.

When the
Monthly and Weekly RSI<40,
& when the RSI takes resistance at 60 in the daily chart,
it may bounce back and most probably it will not go above 60

If a bearish candle is formed at the 60 RSI level,
the prices may bounce back from there, & 1 can enter the stock 4 shorting

The stoploss can be placed at the high of that bearish candlestick, and the target can be the 40 RSI levels.

I don’t know who wrote ep. 52 but ep. 53 was going strong once more on symbols: roses, stones, fire and trees were incorporated and especially the ReyMir dialogues were written very well. I truly loved every ReyMir scene.

I had the most bizarre experience outside of a bar yesterday, which my partner very aptly described as "toxic mask-unlinity." (A Thread.)

I was standing outside, waiting for a lyft to get home, when two cis men came out of the bar to smoke cigarettes. They're discussing the masks that folks are wearing in California at the moment because of the very dangerous air pollution from the fires happening.

I happen to be wearing one of those masks, because I think lungs are important and I like breathing. I dunno. One of the men notices me standing there, and says, "Like this f*cker right here. What is this shit?"

He goes on a homophobic rant about me, the pansy with a mask, and what a Very Manly Man he is because he's not afraid to smoke a pack of cigarettes while California is on fire. He doesn't need a mask, because something-something-heterosexual-something.

And part of me is just... impressed by the fact that this dude thinks he's Owning The Gay Libs by not wearing a mask to protect his lungs from smoke and particles in the air that are literally DANGEROUS... while chain-smoking. Outside of a bar.
