Assange: waiting online with other journalists for a ruling from District Judge Vanessa Baraitser. Although the hearing is taking place at the Old Bailey, this is a sitting of Westminster Magistrates’ Court. It is not a trial. The losing side may appeal against the DJ’s ruling.

Reporters covering the Assange hearing remotely can now see and hear the courtroom. Edward Fitzgerald QC is asking for a glass of water. The dock is currently empty.

Of all the stupidest things I read this week, none was more stupid than the Ekiti State Police Command standing behind their dismissal of a pregnant policewoman because according to Mr. Babatunde Mobayo, the command’s commissioner,

“Section 126 of the regulation (states) that married woman police (sic) who is pregnant may be granted maternity leave, while Section 127 (states that) unmarried woman police (sic) who becomes pregnant shall be discharged from the Force" & needs IGP's approval to be enlisted

So if Sis had been married, she would not have been punished. And if the man who got her pregnant had been a police officer one is to assume he wouldn’t have lost his job. It wouldn’t have mattered then whether he was married or not.

It is frustrating that in this 21st century, our women are still being treated like second class citizens with single women at the bottom of the ladder. In some cities, young women can’t rent because foolish landlords refuse to rent to unmarried women.

Some hotels won’t let them in because no man. What’s next? Single women can’t drive? Shop? Eat? Women need to show proof of marriage to teach? Enter cabs? Travel? The ridiculousness knows no end. Na who do us this thing?

Having been placed on a SECOND blood pressure lowering drug a month ago, and reporting to the cardio some lightheadedness when I get up, and rather than discussing a dose or drug change being told to "stand up more slowly" has me working hard on 1/n

lowering BP and getting completely off the drugs.

First things first, I checked my median BP off drugs at two different weights, and sure enough, the more I weigh, the higher the home BP. At 186lbs, median BP is 144/88, max was 165/98. 2/n

Peaks (especially in the doctors office were labeled hypertensive crisis). At 162lbs, median BP is 124/79, max was 138/86. The question remains how high BP goes in the office (or at Red Cross) when I weigh less. 3/n

Weight goal is around 153, and I'm at 168± now, so primary objective is to reach goal weight and see if I can wean off the meds.

Second, sodium. I may be salt sensitive. I've added more sodium to my diet after reading a bunch on that and learning of some twitter peeps' 4/n

experiences. Ate light yesterday, took some extra salt, and gained nearly two pounds and my rings got tight. Next step is to reduce sodium load and see what happens.

Third, NO. I've been using a UVB light, and before the seasons turned getting decent sunlight. 5/n

We know how the Chinese Communist Party treats their own people with cruelty, putting them in labor camps, slave camps, and even killing their people for organ harvesting, such as the Falun Dafa people, the Tibetans, Christians, Uyghurs, and atheists.

I’ve been saying this a lot lately in private conversations with friends, but am realizing I should probably just say it more publicly, since so many people ask me about it: No, you’re not wrong for caring a lot about social justice issues and wanting the church to do the same.

Your frustration with this broken country and your desire to see more being done about it isn’t sinful. Your desire for justice more than peacekeeping isn’t wrong.

Have you read the Prophets? Do you remember Jesus flipped over tables? Do you recall the issues Jesus addresses or the people whose names he knew who would normally be passed over? The poor? The outcast? The women? The oppressed?

He taught us to pray “On Earth as it is in Heaven.” He modeled again and again how to bring that about through his life on Earth.

But, I also would urge you to consider how you are defining the church you are frustrated at. Do you mean the leadership? The staff? The denomination? The institution in general?
