 Secondly, if you read history, you will find that Dalits would have a broom attached to their backs by UC rulers so that the land would not be polluted. By portraying a Dalit politician holding a broom, you are glorifying the stereotype of casteist jobs which our ancestors fought
Thirdly, using a casteist slur like untouchable is not clever wordplay by any means. It is just dehumanizing and constitutionally banned. We were outcasts who were not allowed to even touch the same places as UCs. If you don't know our history, don't misuse it. Unlearn casteism
Moreover, the director of the movie is Subhash Kapoor, a man accused of sexual assault. It baffles me how all of Bollywood has shown their casteism in targeting Dalits for criticising the misleading portrayal of themselves, but no one has pointed a finger at the sexual molestor!

Speaking of the caste of the cast, the movie has a Chadha, Shukla, Oberoi, Kapoor, Kumar, etc. All UCs. A movie about a Dalit surely needs to have some Dalit representation, if any. There are 0 Dalits in Bollywood. If you are so hell bent on being our saviours, introspect on this
Why do Bahujans who are >70% of the Indian population find no representation in any sector of Bollywood? Or any other field for that matter. Film, cricket, politics, law, academia, sport, music, art, media, etc. Why are all these fields dominated by UCs? Are we any less talented?
On the left are Dalit movies made by Dalit directors. On the right are Dalit movies made by UC directors. Left movies are a symbol of Dalit assertion and overcoming oppression. Right movies are glorifying oppression and showing UCs as our saviours. Do I have to explain this more?
The UC saviour complex in movies about Dalits is widespread. In Article 15, the hero was a Brahmin who doesn't know his caste, while the incompetent policeman was a Dalit. In fact, the Dalit leader in the film was killed at the end for shock value. So was this film for us or you?
Speaking of Article 15, there was not a single Dalit actor in that film either. The cast was Khurranna, Gupta, Talwar, Chakraborty, Panday, Mishra, etc. But there was one Dalit featured in the film. The manual scavenger who was made to clean the gutter for shock value once again
And this is not a new problem. In Lagaan, the character of the disabled and handicapped Dalit was named Kachra. Kachra! Seriously? You couldn't find a better name for him than literal trash? I am a Dalit, no one for the last dozen generations in my family was ever called Kachra
When I was in school, kids would call each other Kachra as an insult because of their skin colour. Because that's the impact cinema has on common people. I'm not asking you to make every movie about social justice, but please stop making us disabled, naked, sweepers, Kachras
And the misrepresentation is not limited to Dalits. Even Muslims are shown with a long beard, skull cap, working in a mechanic shop usually building b0mbs as terr0rists. This is why the country is increasingly becoming Islamophobic. You are all responsible for what is happening
I don't expect a lot from Bollywood but how could you people be so blinded by your privilege that you do not see the problem in any of this? Showing Dalits as beggars, Muslims are terr0rists, etc? You don't need to be "woke" to find this problematic, you just need to have a soul
Here's an idea, make a movie about Martin Luther King, but cast a white actor in his role. In fact, make sure the entire cast is white. Then show MLK working as a cotton picker in the movie poster and use racial slurs like the n-word. Do I need to go on or do you see the problem?
All we Dalits ask for is proper representation. The oppression of our ancestors is not a storyline you can make your profits off. The least you can do is have a discussion with us and correct your mistakes. It's the least you can do after thousands of years of oppressing us n/n

Ever heard of Gollala Mamidada village in Andhra?
Affectionately called "Konaseema Ayodhya", this town has a famous Lord Rama temple. Set in the midst of lush greenery, the towering double Gopurams are a sight for the ages.

The delta area of the Godavari river is called the Konaseema. This island is created as the Godavari splits into its distributaries the Vruddha Godavari, Vasishta Godavari, Gautami and Nilarevu, just below the city of Rajahmundry. Gollala Mamidada is located here


Located around 45 km from Rajamundry (and 20 kms from Kakinada), this little village is famous for the Sri Kodanda Rama Swami Temple. Kodandam is the bow of Lord Rama, and he is worshipped in AP/TG mostly as Kodanda Rama.


This isnt an ancient temple like the others around here, but relatively new.
The construction started in 1889 by two local brothers Dwarampudi Subbi Reddy and Rami Reddy donated land and built a small shrine to Lord Rama. A larger temple was constructed in 1939


The most stunning feature of this temple are the towering double Gopurams. Rising vertically to the heavens, they lord over the neighbouring hinterland, and are said to be visible for over ten kilometres.

Raised in Germany, this force never found its place in the hall of fame like the Indian National Army (INA). The Indian legion became tainted due to its association with the German army. Soon the legion was cornered by allies and French resistance.(1)


The survivors who made it to India never received the recognition which troopers of INA did. When netaji arrived in Berlin on April 3, 1941, the Germans wanted to weaken the British and welcomed him given his status as a pan India leader.(2)


The Germans recognised a provisional "independent India govt" in exile under netaji. They also promised him an army to help liberate India. The British Indian army prisoners of war captured from Rommels north Africa campaign were the nucleus of the this army.(3)


The legion would have acted as a pathfinder force for the planned German campaign into India. This seemed feasible as Rommel’s Afrika Korps was sweeping across north Africa with west Asia as the next target.(4)

The narrative set by left historians about one of their favorite poster boys "Gh0ri" is that he went unchallenged upon entering the Indian subcontinent with one king falling after another.(1)

Gh0ri defeated Prithviraj Chauhan at the 2nd Battle of Tarain in 1192 and laid the foundation of Delhi Sultanate. What is not well known is the fact that 14 years before he won this battle, he was defeated by the queen of Gujarat "Naiki Devi"!(3)

In 1173 Md Gh0ri had conquered the Ghaznavids in Afghanistan. A ruthless, persistent and deceptive Gh0ri was successful in conducting massive raids deep inside Indian territory.(4)

He went on to claim that murder of Rinku Sharma in Delhi’s Mangol Puri area on February 10 had a communal motivation!!!

At his press conference, he said that the BJP was unable to protect Hindus in Delhi. “Hindus are not safe in Delhi under the rule of the BJP,” he asserted!!!

Delhi Police, not known for any sympathy for Muslims, made it clear that the death had its roots in a business rivalry and the people accused of killing Sharma were known to him!

The murder was a result of a fight at the birthday party of Sharma’s

It was expected, in keeping with the reality of politics that BJP would leave no stone unturned to give the murder a communal colour & incite hatred & violence against Muslims.

The murdered young man was said to be a member of the Visha Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal. BJP

The 2018 State of JavaScript survey is out. They got 20,000 responses and have some delicious, delicious data. I'mma thread in some highlights:

First up: JavaScript flavors. There's TypeScript at 47% adoption, a tad higher than npm's own survey results (which said 46%). npm's survey is coming up again soon and will ask about TypeScript in a lot more detail.


I really, *really* like SoJ's "would not use again" question, which lets people who've abandoned a tech self-identify. This is noticeable in the graph above with Flow users -- 41% of people who've used Flow say they wouldn't use it again.

Now JavaScript frameworks. It's been a full year since npm's survey, so these numbers differ from ours in the directions I expected:
React 65% (vs. 60%)
Vue 29% (vs. 24%)
Ember 5% (vs 4%, I was expecting a bigger rise)

But there's a shocker in here: Angular.


npm's survey had Angular at 40% last year and SoJ has it at either:
- 58% (if you include those who don't want to use it again)
- 24% (if you count only those who like it)
Since npm's question didn't ask if they intend to *continue* using it I think that might explain this.

Hey, for people interested in this stuff, here's a thread about a change we made to running our facebook account:

So, about 5 years ago, we got on facebook. Why? Well, facebook has a big audience and they like to consume on facebook. So, we started posting comics there, even though we got paid nothing and facebook made money off the free content.

Why? Because back then, once in a while, you would say "also hey, I sell books" or "hey, I'm going to be signing at this event" and your facebook followers would actually see it.

Effectively, the implicit old arrangement was "facebook lets me reach readers efficiently, and I supply facebook with free content they run ads on."

Over time, like a bad business partner, facebook basically made it impossible to reach your audience without *paying them*. Thus, you supply them free content on which they run ads, and you get nothing in exchange.

Born in Chhatimgram village, Bogra District,Her father's name was Atmaram Choudhury.Bhabani was married off to Raja Ramkanta Moitra,the then zamindar of Rajshahi.After his death, Bhabani became the zamindar, and started being referred to as Rani.She was known as Ardhabangeshwari.

A woman as a zamindar was extremely rare in those days, but Rani Bhabani managed the vast Rajshahi zamindari most efficiently and effectively for over four decades.
Maharani Bhavani was very pious in her personal life. She passed her life in a strict disciplined way.


She conducted the administrative work skillfully. As a Maharani she was an impartial judge. Rani Bhavani had a very hard time during the fag end of her life. The Zamindari (estate) incurred serious loss due to the change of the revenue policy of the company.

In spite of being the owner of a large Zamindari (estate), she had to depend on the stipend of the government in the later part of her life. The amount of this stipend gradually decreased and became Rs. 1000/- only in the end.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's impeccable military genius and matchless courage humbled the Adil Shahi Sultanate.

The beginning of what was to come later for the M0ghuls from one of the most indefatigable defenders of Dharma!

Shivaji’s growing influence in Maval region, made him a threat to the Adil Shahi ruler of Bijapur who sought to restrain him. The man who was given the responsibility of this mission, was their commander, Afzal Khan. Afzal was a formidable warrior known for his ruthlessness.(1)

His strategy was to bring Shivaji out into the plains, where he held an advantage, compared to the rocky Deccan terrain. Afzal attacked the holy town of Pandharpur, and later demolished the temple of Bhavani at Tuljapur to instigate Shivaji in a bid to bring him out.(2)

Shivaji was angry but remained patient. Knowing that he could not defeat Bijapuri Sultanate in an open battle, Shivaji moved to Pratapgarh fort, located on rocky heights, surrounded by thick forests of Jawali.(3)

This set the pattern for future Maratha attacks, using guerrilla warfare against larger invading armies rendering them ineffective in unfavorable terrain.(4)
