 1. The Bible says to visit the house of mourning if you want cogitative wisdom. Ecclesiastes 7:2-4. The house of mourning is not necessarily a funeral parlor. A hospital qualifies as house of mourning. #Illuminare
2. You become sober when you visit a hospital. Itā€™s the opposite of a house of mirth ā€“ a night club or beer parlor. What is alarming is the continual supply of patients. The flow just never stops. #Illuminare
3. There is a political dimension to disease. Disease has an ideological posture. By nature, it is an oppressor. The oppression is so powerful thereā€™s collegiate resignation by the afflicted. They simply bow powerless. Sickness is hell bent on subjugating the human soul.
4. The affliction of a disease like cancer induces unimaginable terror. The Bible acknowledges the political ideology of disease. It also identifies the personage behind the oppression. Weā€™re told Jesus went about doing good and healing all that were OPPRESSED - #Illuminare
5. -OF THE DEVIL. Acts 10:38. In other words, Satan uses disease to oppress people. When Jesus was confronted over the healing of a woman with a symptom of camptocormia or bent spine syndrome (BSS) on the Sabbath, he asked - #Illuminare
6. - ā€œOught not this woman, WHOM SATAN HAS KEPT BOUND for eighteen years BE LOOSED FROM THIS BOND on Sabbath day?ā€ Luke 13:16. He had said to her, ā€œWoman, YOU ARE RELEASED from your infirmity.ā€ Luke 13:12. #Illuminare
7. According to the Bible, that woman ā€œhad an infirmity caused by a demon of sickness.ā€ She was so bent over she couldnā€™t look up. She was forced by a demon to look down all her life, like a slave before her master. The devil uses disease as a means of political oppression.
8. Jesus said the rulers of this world lord it over their subjects. Matthew 20:25. Satan is the god of this world. 2 Corinthians 4:4. He lords it over humans. #Illuminare
9. God is NOT trying to teach you a lesson with any disease. He has your phone number he can talk to you directly. ā€œI will INSTRUCT you and TEACH you in the way you should go; I will COUNSEL you with my eyes on you.ā€ Psalm 32:8. #Illuminare
10. "Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. Receive instruction FROM HIS MOUTH, and lay up his WORDS in your heart". Job 22:21-22. ā€œYou guide me with your COUNSEL, and afterward you will receive me to glory.ā€ Psalm 73:24. #Illuminare
11. God doesnā€™t teach his children by afflicting them with disease. Heā€™s not a wicked dad. He teaches with words. #Illuminare
12. Jesus took care of both our ailments and the political oppression of the devil. Itā€™s why he subjected himself to the beating and torture. His oppression by the political establishment foreshadowed our spiritual oppression. #Illuminare
13. ā€œHE WAS OPPRESSED, yet when he was afflicted he was submissive and opened not his mouth.ā€ Isaiah 53:7. In other words, when Jesus refused to answer Herodā€™s questions, he was enacting the political oppression of the devil. Luke 23:9. #Illuminare
14. Thatā€™s why he scarcely replied his interrogators. WE imagine that the value chain of our healing began with the scourging of Jesus based on Isaiah 53:5, but in actual fact it began before the scourging. It began at his trial. #Illuminare
15. ā€œBy OPPRESSION and judgement he was taken away.ā€ Isaiah 53:8. Jesus not only healed our physical and emotional diseases, he set us free from the bondage of the devil. #Illuminare
16. But hereā€™s the problem: weā€™ve been so subjected to oppression for so long psychological damage has been done. It affects our prayers. Weā€™re so used to being oppressed by the devil, begging and placating him, that we seek to apply the same approach to God. #Illuminare
17. And so instead of boldly claiming what Jesus has done for us as the Bible says, we resort to begging God, pleading with him to save and heal us. As if heā€™s Satan. And when those prayers go unanswered, we take offence. #Illuminare
18. But the reason the prayers are not answered is because theyā€™re not according to his will. ā€œAnd this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we pray according to his will, he hears us... #Illuminare
19. ...And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired.ā€ 1 John 5:14-15. #Illuminare
20. Stop begging God to heal you. He already has. 1 Peter 2:24 says by the wounds of Jesus you WERE healed. Itā€™s in the past tense. You were healed two thousand years ago. Claim your healing, rebuke Satan and thank God for your healing. #Illuminare
21. You need a certain psychological posture to fight off diseases and sicknesses. You need righteous indignation. If you donā€™t hate your illness for the pain and discomfort at least hate the fact youā€™re being oppressed. #Illuminare
22. Hate the fact someone is trying to steal your joy, trying to cheat you out of your inheritance. Jesus is your Lord and master, why accept the lordship of the devil? If you donā€™t get angry youā€™ll be supplicant to the disease. #Illuminare
23. What you accommodate you canā€™t fight. Same principle applies to poverty. In scriptures for some reason prosperity is linked to health. You have to hate poverty. Stop creating justification for poverty. Donā€™t accept it. Prosperity is your right. #Illuminare
24. The four pillars of the atonement are forgiveness of sin, the healing of our bodies, deliverance from evil, redemption from poverty. #Illuminare
25. In much the same way, Jesus became sin for us in order to redeem us from sin (2 Corinthians 5:21); so did he partake of death to free us from the power of death (Hebrews 2:14); - #Illuminare
26. -so did he subject himself to oppression to deliver us from Satanā€™s oppression (Isaiah 53:7-8); so did he become poor that we might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). #Illuminare
27. If you believe God saved you, you have to believe he has prospered you. Theyā€™re both in the same package. All you need do is activate the principles of prosperity to release the blessing. #Illuminare
28. You need to work (2 Thessalonians 3:10); you need to be faithful (Luke 16:10-11); you need to sow (2 Corinthians 9:8); and you mustnā€™t cheat (Psalm 62:10). Follow the word. There is no emergency anointing for prosperity, any more than thereā€™s anointing - #Illuminare
29. - for salvation or forgiveness of sin. All that talismanic stuff is nothing but laziness. ā€œLazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.ā€ Proverbs 13:4 NLT. There are so many religious frivolities ā€“ #Illuminare
30. - seeming shortcuts to prosperity that are ideas of men and not in the Bible. ā€œHe who tills the land shall be satisfied with bread. But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding.ā€ Proverbs 1211. Some people chase foolish fantasies ā€“ #Illuminare
31. - stupid dreams. But the Bible says ā€œa person who chases fantasies has no sense.ā€ Proverbs 12:11b NLT. Thereā€™s no overnight success with God. It is Satan who promises overnight success. And itā€™s soon over overnight. God is particular about the law of faithfulness. #Illuminare
32. You have to prove yourself faithful in little before he can give you much. Thatā€™s how it works. Now, remember that I mentioned the scriptures link prosperity and health? This is the verse of scripture: ā€œBeloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper - #Illuminare
33. - and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.ā€ 3 John 1:2. Believe God's wishes. I wish you health and wealth in the coming year. Happy New year in advance. #Illuminare
34. I want you to give your life to Jesus. Please pray this prayer: ā€œFather I come to you in the name of Jesus. I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in my heart that God raised him from the dead. I am saved. Amen.ā€ #Illuminare

1. Iā€™m always perplexed and even get dumbfounded every time I receive a mail from a reader of Illuminare and the content reveals he or she is unfamiliar with the byproducts of the atonement of Jesus ā€“ what we call New Testament realities. #Illuminare

4. In the Bible the Greek word translated ā€œsalvationā€ is Sozo. Itā€™s a multifaceted word. It incorporates forgiveness of sin, the healing of our body, material prosperity, as well as deliverance form demonic forces. #Illuminare

5. Therefore, salvation from damnation is a quarter gospel not the full gospel. The benefit of salvation is not just at the expiration of life, it has very real and tangible benefits here on earth. Salvation is a highly pragmatic program. #Illuminare

1. For some reason Jesus decided to come to earth and bifurcate human history at a time medical science was rather primitive. Society was technologically backward. #Illuminare

2. There were no cars, donkeys were the primary means of transportation. There was no air travel either. Astronomy was tied to astrology. Why did he choose that point in time? Why not now for example, or the turn of the century? #Illuminare

3. There are two portraits of Jesus revealed in scriptures, and theyā€™re manifestation denominated. Thereā€™s the cerebral, intellectual Jesus Paul wrote about to the Colossians. #Illuminare

4. Weā€™re told all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are domiciled in him - be it quantum physics, chemistry, or genetics. Colossians 2:3. Heā€™s the brain behind creation science, the guy doing all the exciting stuff in the book of Genesis. #Illuminare

5. In this rational capacity he was designated the Logos - ā€œFor by him were all things created in heaven and on earth, things visible and invisibleā€¦ā€ Colossians 1:16. #Illuminare

1. So, hereā€™s how the faith thing works. Itā€™s like a machine. Think of a car engine with three gears or cogs that are all held together by a fan belt. Thatā€™s what the machinery looks like. #Illuminare

2. The first gear is the provisions made by God. The Bible says God has blessed us with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 1:3 KJV. #Illuminare

3. Everything youā€™ll ever need in life - every joy, every piece of peace, every deliverance from evil, every healing, every forgiveness of sin, every promotion, every success, every item of prosperity - #Illuminare

4. ā€“ your car, your house, your kids, everything has been provided through the sacrifice of Jesus. No blessing is left out. But hereā€™s the challenge: the blessings are located in heavenly vaults, not on earth, and for good reason. #Illuminare

1. Itā€™s virtually impossible to appreciate the full ramification of the New Testament without recourse to the legal construct undergirding it. The New Testament is resolutely mounted on a tripod of commercial law, criminal law and constitutional law. #Illuminare

2. There are other legal dimensions but those are the major three. Without those legal authorities the New Testament will not be efficacious in heaven, on earth or under the earth. It will just be history. #Illuminare

3. Thatā€™s not to say only lawyers can appreciate the New Testament. Itā€™s the Holy Spirit that unveils the word. But thereā€™s a way and manner a Paul would read the scriptures that Peter canā€™t. #Illuminare

4. Paul had formal training in Mosaic law. His dean was Gamaliel. Acts 22:3. Peter on the other hand was an ordinary fisherman, and you can see the difference in their writings. #Illuminare

5. Itā€™s like those first few verses in the book of Genesis. A cosmologist or quantum physicist would salivate over them. He has a technical grasp of the issues. #Illuminare

Iā€™m deeply saddened to learn that Dr Joseph Sonnabend, one of the most important figures in the history of AIDS, died yesterday. I spent time with him in 2018 for one of the last interviews he ever gave. Let me tell you about this man and what he did:

Sonnabend was one of the first doctors to raise the alarm. In 1979, while running a sexual health clinic in Greenwich Village, he wrote to the NY Health Dept to warn them of the symptoms he was seeing: low white blood cell counts, enlarged lymph nodes. He didnā€™t get a reply. 2/

So he kept speaking out. When a patient of his developed a very rare cancer ā€“ Kaposiā€™s Sarcoma ā€“ he linked up with a dermatologist at NYU who said that over a dozen gay men had it. Sonnabend knew there was something very wrong. He started working at the lab at NYU ā€” for free. 3/

It was soon after this in 1981 that the New York Times famously reported ā€œRare Cancer Found In 41 Homosexualsā€. The next decade would kill most of Sonnabendā€™s patients and friends ā€” and all of his lovers. What Sonnabend did was to fight for every single of them. 4/

Want to know who was the first to publish advice to wear a condom? That was Sonnabend. In 1983 he co-authored the first safe sex leaflet to fight AIDS: ā€œHow To Have Sex In An Epidemicā€. 5/

breaking my social media fast, which may or may not exist anymore, to share something i found really really helpful from today's therapy sesh. i figured out why i (we?) have so much trouble celebrating our wins

so ive been in therapy for 100 years. still anxious, but im pretty sure i was born that way so i'll stay that way. still depressed too, which i thought id be cured of by now. aa few sessions ago we talked about what i think a return to health 'should' look like

initially i figured itd look like being the person i was before i got depressed. energetic, not needing pep talks to do shit like go outside, cooking everyday, working out at least 30 mins at least 3 days a week, calling my mom everyday, etc.

that session i realized that im a completely different person than i was before i got depressed. also the world has changed a lot & things are just done differently now. not allowing for those things had me reaching for shit that was impossible.

so i make some concessions but say that i *still* want to be able to do some things that i dont want to do. like i cant just sit on the couch and never move in the name of accepting who i am, which is A Bitch Who Don't Like To Move. i still want to be able to eve if i dont want

A mature adult cardiac myocyte is packed with sarcomeres, whose contractile forces are coupled to the extracellular environment. With sarcomeres so close to the plasma membrane, how can we study the nature of this coupling?

Short answer: find a model system where the sarcomeres are not so close to what the cardiac myocyte is attached to. Enter, iPS cell-derived cardiac myocytes. These are ā€œimmatureā€ in culture as they resemble fetal or neonatal cardiac myocytes.

The sarcomeres seemed to be connected to focal adhesions on the bottom of the cell by thin actin bundles that resembled the dorsal stress fibers (DSF) commonly found in non-muscle cells. This movie steps through a Z stack of a myocyte starting at the bottom of the cell.

Let's talk honestly about "informed consent."
Someone with decades of training gives someone with none advice usually packed into 1-3 mins. Huge amount is based on trust. Huge potential for bias built in. But also there is no obligation to provide real alternative options.


I am classified as 'gifted' (obnoxious and ableist term). I mention because of what I am about to say. You all know that I was an ambulatory wheelchair user previously - could stand - but contractures have ended that. When I pleaded for physio, turned down. But did you know...

I recently was chatting with a doctor I know and explaining what happened and the day the physiatrist told me it was too late and nothing could be done. The doctor asked if I'd like one of her friends/colleagues to give second opinion. I said yes please! So...

She said can you send me MRI and other imaging they did to determine it wasn't possible to address your contractures.

Me: What?
Dr.: They did a MRI first before deciding right?
Me: No
Dr: What did they do??!
Me: Examined me for 2 minutes.
Dr: I am very angry rn. Can't talk.

My point is you don't even know if you are making "informed" decisions because the only source of information you have is the person who has already decided what they think you should do. And may I remind you of a word called 'compliance.'

Many pentests start from the outside, wanting to see how the perimeter might be breached.

This pentest started from the inside. My client wanted to assume they had already been breached, and, if breached, how far could an attacker go.

Could they stop me once I was inside?

So they snuck me in. Disguised me as a new employee. Gave me a work computer, an ID badge, an account in their system... hell, I even had a cubicle w/my assumed name on it.

The only person who knew who I really was was their CISO. Everyone else thought I was Jeremy in Marketing.

During most of the first morning, I completed onboarding, made introductions, and completed menial tasks.

But I had to act quick. I only had a week onsite. I had to hack their network while not raising suspicion.

So I set about it.

You have to understand... most "Internal Pentests" are straight forward. The hard part is breaching the network, but once you're inside, it's a target rich environment. End of Life computers, default passwords, everyone a Local Administrator...

1. I was walking in the woods yesterday and I had an epiphany. It wasnā€™t one I wanted to have. I was thinking about todayā€™s class, where we are reading Kimmererā€™s ā€˜Gathering Mossā€™. Iā€™ve taught Braiding Sweetgrass in multiple classes every year since 2016. Itā€™s eminently teachable

2. Both books are beautifully written. Students uniformly enjoy them as assigned reading. They do a great job communicating to non-Indigenous folks the contours of basic Indigenous relationships to more-than-human beings. Theyā€™re wildly popular with white readers.

3. Iā€™ve found Braiding Sweetgrass to be a great entry point for non-Indigenous folks to Indigenous scholarship. But this is where yesterdayā€™s epiphany comes in. Neither Braiding Sweetgrass or Gathering Moss tends to the deep deep lineages of Indigenous scholarship in Canada or US

4. As the popularity of ā€˜Braiding Sweetgrassā€™ has soared, Iā€™ve seen more and more white folks wax on about ā€˜braiding knowledgeā€™. But they often donā€™t know any of the lineages of these concepts beyond what is presented in this one book. They confidently run with this.

5. Kimmerer does a commendable job of weaving in her own experiences, her family stories+nods to some very important knowledge keepers who deserve to be celebrated for their work. But Braiding Sweetgrass does not tend to the citational politics Sara Ahmed & others teach us about

Kani means wetland and Pakam means flow of water into wetland.
Kanipakam Vinayaka is swayambhu (self-manifested). The murti is in a well which is always full of water.


Once, there were three brothers. Each one had a handicap- Dumb, Deaf and Blind. They had a small piece of land for livelihood. For their field, they drew water from a well. One day, they found that the well had dried up so one of them started digging in the well.


His tool hit something and blood oozed out. They found a swayambhu murti of Ganesha here.
Villagers started offering coconut water which overflew into a channel. Hence the name Kanipakam.


The murti is still growing in size. At present, we see the knees and the abdomen only. The Kavacham (Armour) offered to Vinayaka 50 years ago doesnā€™t fit today.
Vinayaka is believed to be the upholder of truth. So people come here and swear before him to prove their innocence.

Makers are looking to reverse-engineer success. I see it everywhere.

I have built dozens of different products over the last couple of years. The vast majority failed. šŸ˜­

Surely if I know the answers to these questions, but still fail over and over again, these answers arenā€™t that useful. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

So whatā€™s a better question to ask? šŸ¤”

99.9% of the questions I receive are about the products that did well. In a way that makes sense, because we quickly forget about those that didnā€™t succeed.

šŸ§  This is known as survivorship bias.

Focusing on what survived, while ignoring what made it survive in the first place.

The real question, what you really want to know, is this:

What makes @WIP, @BetaList, and to some extent @AllStartupJobs succeed where my countless other attempts failed?

What separates a failed product šŸ‘Ž from a successful product šŸ‘?

Honestly, I donā€™t know. I wish I did.

Itā€™s like Steve Jobs said ā€œIā€™ll know it when I see it.ā€ šŸ‘€

Same is true when we make products. We donā€™t know upfront what will work. But once we see an inkling of a product that does have potential, itā€™s not that hard to spot.
