Sources : TN CM Edappadi Palanisamy, who claims to run “Amma’s government” has decided to accord the ceremonious farewell parade to disgraced police officer Jaffar Sait, who retires on 31.12.2020. While all DG level officers are eligible 1/n

for this parade on their retirement, no such honour was accorded to the DGPs who had retired in the recent past. A few of them are Ashok Kumar, SR Jangid, S. George, Ashish Bhengra, Asuthosh Shukla, Sri Lakshmi Prasad, RC Kudawla etc. 2/n
Rehearsal for Jaffar Sait’s ceremonious farewell parade is being held from 21.12.2020 at Avadi TSP Battalion grounds till date and the rehearsal would continue till 30.12.2020 say sources.

Edappadi Palanisamy should remember that Jayalalitha, 3/n
in 2011, immediately on assumption of her charge as CM in 2011, transferred Jaffar Sait to a post in the rank of Sub-Inspector of Police – Special Officer Mandapam Special Camp for Sri Lankan Refugees. 4/n
DVAC registered two criminal cases against Jaffar Sait on 23 July 2011 and he was suspended on 1st August 2011 and his headquarters was fixed as Ramanathapuram. Jayalalitha didn’t even allow him to come to Chennai. 5/n
He continued to remain under suspension till Jaya was dead. Only after her death, he was reinstated based on the orders of Madras HC on 13 January 2017. Jayalalitha’s anger against Jaffar Sait was that he even illegally intercepted Jayalalitha’s communications 6/n
and passed it on to the then CM Karunanidhi.

She was so furious on Jaffar Sait that, she turned down his request to change the headquarters during suspension period from Ramanathapuram to Chennai. 7/n
However, EPS’s erstwhile blue-eyed boy former IG Intelligence K N Sathyamurthy, who ruled the roost till he retired, got Jaffar posted to an important post – DGP of CB CID. While Jaffar was DGP, CB.CID, the Enforcement Directorate commenced 8/n
a probe against him and DMK MP Jagatharatchagan. Following the ED letter to TN Chief Secretary, he was transferred out of CB.CID. Now he is Director of Fire & Rescue Services, Chennai.

While Jaffar Sait got the charge sheets against him “alone” 9/n
quashed by Madras HC, his wife Ms.Parveen Jaffar is still an accused and facing trial in the MP/MLA special court along with former DMK Minister I.Periyasamy.

Sources add, after Jaffar Sait retires on 31.12.2020, 10/n
Madras HC will be moved for a direction to revive the charge sheet against him, since he ceases to be a public servant and no sanction is required.

To such a person, why DGP JK Tripathy, who could have missed 11/n
the post of Head of Police Force by a nick due to Jaffar Sait is according such honour to a criminal.

Is Edappadi Palanisamy, forced to accord this honour to Jaffar Sait by former IG Intelligence and his benami KN Sathyamurthy is not clear. 12/n
How KN Sathyamurthy is a benami of Edappadi Palanisamy, will be revealed in due course.

Covid recovery money is going to the oligarchy.

Ottawa and the provinces have put very little on the table to help clean-tech companies directly during Covid 19 while targeting fossil-fuel producers with more than $16 billion in aid.

Coast to coast people have demanded treaties be honored. We demanded climate action, divestment and land back but Canada is not listening. This video shows 10 years of rallies in Waterloo Ontario. City & regional council declared a climate emergency. 🚨

The Bank of China (BOC), SNC-Lavalin and WE Charity were recipients of taxpayer-funded the Covid 19 Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)

I just finished Eric Adler's The Battle of the Classics, and wanted to say something about Joel Christiansen's review linked below. I am not sure what motivates the review (I speculate a bit below), but it gives a very misleading impression of the book. 1/x

The meat of the criticism is that the history Adler gives is insufficiently critical. Adler describes a few figures who had a great influence on how the modern US university was formed. It's certainly critical: it focuses on the social Darwinism of these figures. 2/x

Other insinuations and suggestions in the review seem wildly off the mark, distorted, or inappropriate-- for example, that the book is clickbaity (it is scholarly) or conservative (hardly) or connected to the events at the Capitol (give me a break). 3/x

The core question: in what sense is classics inherently racist? Classics is old. On Adler's account, it begins in ancient Rome and is revived in the Renaissance. Slavery (Christiansen's primary concern) is also very old. Let's say classics is an education for slaveowners. 4/x

It's worth remembering that literacy itself is elite throughout most of this history. Literacy is, then, also the education of slaveowners. We can honor oral and musical traditions without denying that literacy is, generally, good. 5/x
