CAPITOL RIOT QUESTIONS FOR SPEAKER PELOSI: There is no group in America more interested in the safety and security of the Capitol than members of Congress. To that end, members have asked @SpeakerPelosi to answer these basic questions:

1/ What was your role in authorizing or denying National Guard support before and after Jan. 6?

2/ Reps. Rodney Davis, R-Ill., Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and James Comer R-Ky., on Feb. 15 asked you five pointed questions about your role in Jan. 6 and your preservation and compliance with document requests. Will you answer them?

3/ After the 2011 shooting of now-former Rep. Gabby Giffords, D-Ariz., what changed with regard to security?

4/ After the shooting of Republican House Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., were any changes made to security?

5/ What happens when a member of Congress's life is threatened? How are they expected to protect themselves?

6/ In 2018, $25,000 was allocated to each Member’s Reimbursement Allowance (MRA) for security. Did that work?

7/ Do you have enough cameras in the public spaces inside and outside the Capitol?

8/ Why can’t law enforcement secure doors in the Capitol and why isn’t there bulletproof glass?

9/ Why were known COVID-infected members allowed on the grounds of the Capitol? This is especially relevant given the disparate treatment of Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney’s son...

10/ ...A Naval Academy graduate, he was denied floor access (in the plexiglass COVID box you created so COVID-positive members could vote for you for speaker) to see his mother sworn in when every other member was allowed a guest.

11/ You insisted members should be fined $5,000 if they failed to pass through metal detectors. Should you be fined for not passing through the metal detector?

12/ You said the enemy is within. What did you mean and who specifically are you afraid of in Congress?

13/ How do you respond to the Feb. 1 letter from former Capitol Police Chief Sund?

14/ Your own home was vandalized this year. Yet nobody was arrested. The San Francisco Police Department was quoted saying, "Unidentified suspect(s) had painted graffiti on the garage door and left a pig’s head on the sidewalk." How does this happen to the speaker of the House?

1/ Georgia State Senate Hearing Live Tweet Thread:

The current Senate witness, J. Hutton Pulitzer, claims that the state's ballot auditors audited reproduction ballots because the original ballots are missing.

2/ This is concerning because previous witnesses testified that stacks of ballots appeared to be machine-made missing telltale creases and having identical vote markings for Biden and no other candidates.

3/ J. Hutton Pulitzer states his team can review 100% of Georgia's ballots to determine if they are REAL or FAKE within two hours. The State of Georgia has refused to allow any examination of the ballots for authenticity.

4/ J. Hutton Pulitzer claims he can determine the authenticity of the ballots from the State Farm Arena within hours if the state will make them available to his company. He calls the physical ballot the Holy Grail.

5/ The Senate has moved to compel the Georgia Secretary of State to turn over the physical ballots. The fight will likely end up in the courts as the Secretary of State has refused to comply with the Senate's request.

1/ BREAKING GEORGIA SENATE RUNOFF THREAD:

While it is illegal to tally the results of early & absentee ballots before 7PM, but election officials CAN use Dominion Voting machines to scan the ballots allowing each precinct to know the outcome of the election. (cont)

2/ Poll workers have called in their 'unofficial' results and are reporting that the two Democratic Senate candidates are currently winning in a landslide. If by some chance the GOP candidates make up the difference today we're not out of the woods yet (cont.).

3/ Democrats in Fulton County (Atlanta) will have until Friday to 'fix' illegal or improper mail-in-ballots. They will also be able to 'find' as many overseas and military ballots as they need to ensure a Democratic victory.

4/ Since the 'unofficial' Georgia vote count was leaked the #dowjones has lost more than 500 points. The market is pricing in complete Democratic control of the Senate, House, and White House.

5/ BREAKING: According to @GabrielSterling from the Secretary of State's office the Dominion software loaded on security keys was corrupt and new programs were created and are being delivered to polling locations by law enforcement now.

Some issues in Columbia Co. There was a programming error on security keys for some locations scanners & pollworker cards. Voting continues on backup emergency ballots. Newly programmed keys&cards are being taken to locations via law enforcement.

Suppliers will always tell you that they want to be your partners, to build a relationship, to be your friends, to find the win/win in much the same way a second hand car salesperson wants to be your buddy ... but their interests are not yours and never can be.

Me : Occassionaly you can find critical friends. People that we willing to tell you the truth as they see it regardless of the consequences. They are not very common and it normally requires a deep sense of duty that exceeds any loyalty to others.

X : Can the relationship be symbiotic?
Me : Rarely but that depends. If the organisation has a core overiding principle of focusing on the customer need and I don't mean lip service to this but absolutely embedded into its very core then yes i.e. places like Amazon, Alibaba etc.

Return on Equity (#ROE) and Return on Capital Employed (#ROCE) are two important Financial Ratios used in #FundamentalAnalysis of Stocks.

Return on Equity (ROE) is the ratio of Net Income (Net Profit) of a company and it’s Total Equity (Shareholder's Equity).

Here - Shareholders Equity = Share Capital + Reserves & Surplus.

#ROE is a measure of how much net profit a company is making for every rupee invested by its shareholders in the company.

It can be said that higher the ROE, better it is for the equity shareholders. It tells shareholders about how effectively their money is being used.

However, you should not trust high ROE blindly. Biggest drawbacks or weaknesses of ROE is that it completely ignores debt.

Hence for companies having high levels of debt, ROE will give a higher but misleading value & therefore we need to look at #ROCE along with #ROE.

"Sales increase when you honestly evaluate what someone needs and then teach them the value of what you're selling."

To succeed, your product has to offer an outcome that is highly desirable to a large group of customers.

The number of sales your product receives is a multiple of these two variables:

1. How big is the target market?
2. How desirable is the outcome you're offering them?

1) Core attributes of a promising founder worth following:
- Progress/trajectory over time
- How well they lead a team &
- Make the vision happen
- Most impressed when someone is way ahead of where you thought they would be when you check up/see them a few months later.

2) Indie Makers have such a benefit of being small, fast, nimble workers in comparison to big companies.

We can easily pivot and vastly change a project of ours. We can change as we learn more about our users.

Big companies can take months/years for even the smallest of pivots.

3) Before you find a product market you can pivot your project as many times as necessary until you find something that works.

Then you only have one thing to do: scale, scale, scale.

4) Be obsessed with the little details.
- listen to every single person who uses your product
- reply to every single person who emails you about your product
- ask them what they like and do not like
- iterate your product, make changes, pivot if necessary

Published a new essay: The red flags and magic numbers that investors look for in your startup’s metrics – 80 slide deck included!

This was a deck that I created on my (longish) interview process with @a16z. It was a long path, starting with meeting folks at the firm 10 years ago. But the purpose of the deck was to explain how I would use my superpower in an investing context

Here's what I explain in the deck. As investors (whether angel or VC) we're often confronted with an up-and-to-the-right graph. Is it going to go up? Or down?

One solution to forecast these growth curves is the Growth Accounting Framework, where you add up New+Reactivated and subtract churned users. In each time period that gives you the difference in monthly actives.

The problem with this is that it's a lagging metric, not a leading one. We need to go one level deeper and look at the underlying loops that drive these numbers, to understand the quality.
